Chapter 45 Honey, You’re Home
Blanca ground her teeth. These people really did know how to dig up old histories. They hadn’t just come blurting out her past relationship with Todd, they’d even found that she used to be best friends with Kylie. Only, the text clearly wrote that because Blanca managed to bag the large fish in the form of Matthew, she’d broken up with Todd, whom she’d been dating for years. Todd begged Blanca repeatedly to change her mind, but Blanca chased him off.
Kylie stayed by Matthew’s side, and the two finally ended up together.
But then, as Mrs. Chairman, Blanca started bullying the two…
“Heh, random nonsense like this gets the publishing clear?”
Seeing the sudden cold emanating from Blanca, Curtis tucked his glasses up the bridge of his nose, frowning slightly. “Reporters always just make assumptions. The video below is being cited as proof.”
Someone had leaked footage of Blanca’s argument with Kylie!
At night, Blanca was in a strapped onesie as she sat on the sofa, hugging her knees to her as she watched a show and stuffed honey flavored potato chips into her mouth.
With a click, the door opened.
“You’re back?”
Blanca showed a smile, got sweetly and obediently off the sofa, set everything on the tea table and ran over in her slippers. She took his briefcase from his arms dutifully and inclined her head at him. “There’s dinner being kept warm in the dining room. The bath is ready. Do you want to have dinner first or your bath first?”
Seeing Blanca’s pleasing smile, she definitely had ulterior motives.
Matthew just up and let Blanca deal with his briefcase and put on slippers of his own. He shot an emotionless look at her. “If you need something, just say it.”
Blanca staggered, but still maintained her smile. “So, uh, h-honey, we’re husband and wife now, so we share the hits taken to our reputation, right?”
“Okay?”
Hearing her call him honey, Matthew jolted imperceptibly.
He’d caught wind of what happened in the afternoon. As the chairman of the Empire Group, no little detail escaped his gaze. The moment Kylie’s business came up, Lisa had told him without hiding anything back.
He wasn’t asking about it because he wanted to see how Blanca would deal with it.This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
As his wife, Blanca couldn’t be totally defenseless.
“There was tabloid news out about us in the afternoon, did you know that?” Blanca probed. Seeing that Matthew wasn’t responding, she continued loudly, “Really, those tabloids. When they have free time, they go around sneaking shots. We were just going over to get the old man’s calligraphy framed, and they made a dog’s ear out of it and said we were in bed together…”
Blanca studied Matthew’s expression carefully as she spoke.
When she’d come back in the afternoon, Curtis had told her in no uncertain terms that her actions in the afternoon at the company could have consequences.
If people used it with ulterior motives, it could affect the reputation and image of the whole company!
She couldn’t handle something that big!
“I heard about what happened this afternoon, Blanca. Don’t bother with random rumors.” Matthew took out a bottle of water from the fridge and drank it all in one go. The glug-glug-glug sound rooted Blanca to the spot.
So he knew…
