The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel)

MISTAKE 230

Chapter 230: ATTACKED ON THE ROAD.

The next second, something slammed into their car. Anya went dizzy, and Oon lost

consciousness.

After a while, Light hit her eyes, making her squint.

"Where am I?" she asked, and Daniel jumped to her side quickly.

"Baby, you are awake," he called her, till her eyes focused on him.

"Daniel?" she asked.

Daniel eagerly pressed the button, asking for a nurse. Soon, Anya's room was flooded with doctors. They checked to see how well she had recovered before leaving.

Daniel had stepped out to give them the room to work, but he was getting impatient. When the door opened, he approached the doctors in worry.

"How is she?" he asked.

"The baby and mother are fine. She just needs more rest," the doctor said. He went ahead to advise Daniel on what she should eat and how she should be taken care of before leaving with

his team.

Daniel entered Anya's hospital room, his face etched with concern. She looked so small and fragile lying in the bed, various tubes and wires snaking out from under the thin hospital

gown. But she was alive, and for that he was grateful.

"How are you feeling?" he murmured, taking a seat beside her bed and gently taking her hand

in his.

Anya mustered a weak smile. "I've been better," she admitted. "But I'll be okay."

Looking at her, his hands were itchy. Daniel brushed a stray lock of hair from her face before cupping her face.

"It is not okay; you almost died," he confessed, his voice thick with emotion. "What if something happened? You are more fragile while pregnant," he trailed off.

Anya had never seen him so vulnerable.

"I'm just glad you were there," Anya replied, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. "You saved my life, Daniel."

He held her gaze

for a long moment. "Baby, I am severely obsessive," he said.

"You sure look like you are," she answered.

"Mock me as you like, but I can't get the image of you covered in blood out of my head," he said. Anya realized that the situation may have been worse than she thought.

"Are you hinting that you would confine me if necessary?" She asked in a slightly amused

tone.

"I can't let anyone touch you, baby. Never again..." He said, leaning in and pressing a light kiss to her forehead. She knew he meant every word. As he pulled back, Anya finally noticed the darkness under his eyes,

"When was the last time you slept?" She asked worriedly.

"I'll will sleep when I can put my hands around you," he promised. "Until then, I will stay here where I can see you."

"You sure are picky, aren't you?" She asked, "Why don't you go back and close your eyes for a bit?" I won't be going anywhere," she said.

"My soul is here; why should I go anywhere else?" he asked defiantly.

Anya felt her heart flutter at his words.

The next moment, the door opened and Stella burst in.

“Anya? Anya baby..." She said, rushing to Anya's side, and began fusing, looking at every inch

of her.

"Mom, I'm fine," Anya said.

"What do you mean by fine? They said you were unconscious. Do you feel hurt anywhere? Do you need a pillow? I brought you some porridge; are you hungry?" Stella buzzed around dropping questions like a seasoned rapper.

"Mom, you are making me dizzy," Anya said, and Stella finally stilled.

"How do you feel?" a voice asked, and Anya finally noticed that there was someone else in the room. She looked at the man at the door. He only looked a bit older than Daniel, but his head was covered in long gray hair.

He had very worried eyes as he stared at her. He looked as though he wanted to come close, but was not sure if he could. Chapter 230 ATTACKED ON THE ROAD.Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

Anya looked to her mother for an explanation, even though she already guessed who he was. After all, she still had some vague memories of this

mane

"Baby, this is James. James, this is Anya. Anya, he is your father," Stella introduced the two.

Anya was not sure how to react. She had always imagined the kind of person her father was, since she was so young when he disappeared. Every time she was bullied, she would imagine what it would be like to tell him what happened. Her mother had said he was dead and barely spoke of him. But the little she did made Anya feel that he was an outstanding man.

Looking at him standing by the door, his presence filled the room.

"Where have you been all this time?" Anya asked

"I was asleep. I was trapped in a machine for a while. It took a while to return," he said.

Stella beckoned to James to walk closer to Anya, and he slowly walked to her side. James was overwhelmed at this moment. His last memories of her, she asked, still a little girl of only six years. She was already grown. His hands had a mind of their own and found their way to her head, and Anya broke into tears.

"Do you know how much they bullied me?" she started to complain. Anya was not sure why, but the words just kept coming out.

Her cries hurt everyone in the room.

Over at the airport, the Shaw family was preparing for their move back home for holiday. Wendy received a massage from Daniel and looked to her husband.

"He and Anya will be arriving with her father," she said.

“James, James Grey?" he asked.

"What about Anya? Moving a coma patient is not to be done carelessly. We should stay and help," Amanda asked.

"Anya has woken up. They say she is fine and will be able to fly in a while." Wendy answered.

“That's good then. We need to go back and prepare. We do not know what the other great families would do once there." Old Master Rhodes said.

His orders were absolute, and they all agreed with his sentiment.

When everything was set, they boarded the plane and left.

Anya slept while a lot of the reparations were being made. Daniel soon found that his father in law, James, had considered a lot of things, which made it easier for them.

The drive to the airport and takeoff did not register for Anya. When they landed on a private

strip and drove into a private estate.

This gate stood alone on private land. It was a well-secured place.

They had no hindrance driving through the gates, as both the Rhodes and Grey families were already inside.

When Anya woke up, she found herself

"Where are we going?" she asked after a long stretch of comfortable silence. "This isn't the way to our place.

Daniel's grip tightened almost imperceptibly on the steering wheel as he negotiated a sharp turn in the winding road. "We're going to my home for now," he replied, keeping his tone light and casual. "Just until... well, until this whole mess gef

sorted out."

"What mess?" Anya asked, "And what is this place?"

She had never seen anything like it. Mountains on one side, streams on the other. The white streets were lined with trees shedding red leaves onto the sidewalk.

"This is Stone Bridge, dear," James said.

"Stone Bridge?" Anya asked.

"Most large families have property here. It is a lot of landed property and well-secured space. Richard will be bringing your sister over for your safety," Daniel answered.

“Safety? Are we in danger?” she asked, and Daniel caressed her hand.

"We are safe in here," he said.

He could sense Anya's curiosity piquing at his vague explanation, but to her credit, she didn't press him further. At least, not for the time being. He did not want her to worry.
