Chapter 288 When Things Go Awry

“Finnegan, what do you want to talk about?”

Upon reaching the backyard of the Zimmerman residence, Bishop began to speak, his tone slightly

aloof.

Even though he had to obey Milicent, it didn’t necessarily mean that he truly accepted Finnegan in his

heart.

It was just that Finnegan was now in a dominant position, so their family had no choice but to bow

down.

Finnegan broke into a slight smile. “Of course it’s about me going to beat you up!”

What?

Bishop’s face changed, wondering if he had heard wrong.

Before he could react, Finnegan flicked his fingers lightly, firing two silver needles into Bishop which

dissolved upon entering the latter’s body.

Finnegan subsequently stepped forward, landing a kick on Bishop’s enormous belly.

Amidst a muffled groan, Bishop’s eyes widened as his over eighty-five-kilogram body was sent flying

before crashing onto the ground. He rolled a distance across the grass before finally coming to a halt NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.

against a tree.

The intense pain caused Bishop to open his mouth wide, only to realize that he couldn’t make a sound,

Suddenly, an overwhelming fear spread throughout his mind.

What’s going on here? Why can’t I make any sound at all?

Before he could figure out the problem, Finnegan had already arrived in front of him.

He bent down, gripping Bishop’s throat and lifting him up. “Stop struggling. I’ve sealed your acupoints.

You won’t be able to make a sound until I release it.”

No sooner had Finnegan spoken than his left fist swung out and landed on Bishop’s stomach.

He then threw more punches, one after another, as if Bishop were a punching bag.

Bishop, who had been born with a silver spoon, had never been treated this way in his entire life.

The pain was so intense that his whole body was convulsing, yet not a single sound escaped his lips..

Finnegan had also controlled his strength well, only causing Bishop to experience excruciating pain,

but not enough to take the latter’s life nor leave any injuries.

Even when Bishop checked afterward, he couldn’t find the slightest trace of injury.

And so, the beating continued for several minutes. After Bishop had famted and woken up several

times. Finnegan finally stopped and tossed him onto the ground.

Bishop curled up, feeling as if all his internal organs had been smashed.

The

pain caused his body to be drenched by sweat.

Finnegan lifted his right leg and stepped on Bishop. “Do you feel as if you’re an innocent victim, not

knowing why I suddenly want to beat you up?

Bishop raised his head resentfully, glaring at Finnegan.

It seemed as he wanted to rip Finnegan to pieces.

Finnegan laughed nonchalantly. “The reason is simple. You conspired with Mike to use A Thousand

Dreams to harm Bernie, plunging her into a deep sleep and getting her to forget all familial affection.

Don’t even think about denying it. I wouldn’t have laid a finger on you unless I had concrete proof. Don’t

even think about running to your father and mother to tattle after this. If you do, I’ll hand over the

evidence of your collusion with Mike to the police department. I believe the police department has

received evidence of you framing Bernie. At the very least, you’re looking at a minimum sentence of

one year, right?”

Bishop was completely dumbfounded, to the point where he couldn’t even feel pain anymore:

Only confusion and fear resided in his heart.

How does this jerk know that I’m in cahoots with Mike?

At first, to avoid too many prying eyes and ears, the matter of his collusion with Mike was kept a secret

within the Zimmerman family. Apart from him and Millicent, he didn’t even tell Timothy and his sister.

Finnegan lifted him from the ground, brushing off the grass clippings from his body while warning. “So

you’d better watch your mouth, or you’ll end up in jail.”

After a pause, Finnegan’s tone suddenly turned cold. “And remember this lesson! If you dare to harm

Bernie in the future, she might let it slide due to familial affection, but I am a petty person, a person who

will surely retaliate for the slightest grievance!”

After saying that, Finnegan gave Bishop’s shoulder a heavy pat, then turned around and walked away.

He was not the least bit worried that Bishop would tell Bruce and others about getting beaten up.

Once Finnegan walked away, Bishop realized that he could speak again.

Clutching his stomach, he watched Finnegan’s retreating figure, full of apprehension. “How could this

b’stard know? Could it be that… someone from the Sable family spilled the beans?”

Little did he know that the Sable family had a new master to answer to-Finnegan.

I

was just about to ask Queenie to call you for dinner. Where’s Bishop?”

As soon as Finnegan stepped into the hall. Milicent immediately greeted him with enthusiasm, which

made Finnegan feel quite uncomfortable.

For the time being. Finnegan wasn’t sure what they were up to, so he didn’t mind playing along. “Mr.

Bishop tripped a little while ago. He asked to come back first, as he needed some time to recover.”

Milicent anxiously asked. “Bishop fell? Is it serious?”

“Mom, I’m okay. It just hurt a little at the time.”

At that moment, Bishop walked in from behind. Just as Finnegan had predicted, Bishop didn’t dare to

admit that he had been beaten up.

Seeing that Bishop was a bit disheveled but otherwise line, Milicent set aside her concerns and said, -

Dinner is ready, Let’s talk while we eat.”

Pulling Finnegan along, they headed toward the dining room, just as they had done with Liam before.

Seeing this, Bernice, who was in a good mood just a while ago, furrowed her brows.

She understood Milicent’s character well. Even if the latter’s opinion of Finnegan were to change, it

certainly wouldn’t happen so quickly because Millicent was someone proud.

But now, Milicent’s unbridled warmth seemed a bit out of the ordinary.

“Bernie, let’s go.”

Before Bernice could figure out what was going on, her thoughts were interrupted by Bruce’s words.

Nodding, she supported Bruce, and together, they made their way to the dining hall.

Just as she was about to sit next to Finnegan, Queenie beat her to it, smoothly pulling out the chair

next to him and sitting down. She did it so naturally that it looked like she had practiced it many times

before.

The sight caused Bernice’s brows to slightly furrow

It was right that she sit in that spot, while Queenie should move aside.

Finnegan also noticed it, causing a thoughtful look to flash across his eyes.

However, it seemed as if the other members of the Zimmerman family hadn’t noticed anything. Milicent

cheerfully invited everyone, “Please, have a seat.”

Bernice had no choice but to step back a bit and sit on Bruce’s other side.

She stealthily kicked Finnegan under the table, not believing that he didn’t notice.

Finnegan smiled wryly, quietly offering her a comforting glance. Only then did Bernice feel a bit more at

case.

Course after course of sumptuous dishes were then served one after the other.

Milicent laughed and said, “Queenie, quickly pour son wine for Finnegan. Then, your family should

toast him together, as an apology for the past

Queenie nodded, picked up the wine bottle, and stood up to pour a glass for Finnegan.

While pouring the wine, her body noticeably brushed against Finnegan’s arm, a gesture that was hard

to

discern if it was intentional.

Even though it only lasted a second or two, it truly happened.

Then, Bishop’s family of four stood up, each holding a wine glass.

At this moment. Timothy spoke up. “In the past, our family had somewhat gone too far, not only

towards Bernic, but also toward Finnegan. Therefore, I believe that apologizing together over a toast is

not sincere enough, we should apologize to Finnegan separately with a toast!”

Milicent nodded, “Tim is right. This is a reflection of our sincerity. Finnegan, you can’t refuse!”

Bruce said with a smile. “It seems you all have recognized your mistakes. What do you think,

Finnegan?”

“Grandpa, Grandma,” Bernice was getting a bit impatient. “I believe Finnegan has already

acknowledged the apology from Uncle Bishop and his family, so let’s just dispense with the formalities.”

Timothy immediately objected, “No, we must drink this wine. Otherwise, it means Finnegan is still not

willing to forgive us!”
