Chapter 71: Who is this informant?

Chapter 71: Who is this informant?

"James, you need to calm down." Elena uttered, placing her hand on his shoulder.

"Calm down?!" He smacked her hand off him and sprang to his feet. "What the f**k are you talking about?! How can I calm down when my wife and child are missing? Can you listen to yourself at all?!" He yelled at her.

Elena flinched in fear and moved away from him. They sat in the living room and watched the policemen work on tracking her phone and car. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

"You don't have to be so hard on me! I saw how you were shivering and sweating profusely, and I got worried about your health. That's all."

"Stop acting like a saint! First, it was Alice, now it is Amelia's. What exactly are you planning?!"

"Stop it, James! The police have already investigated me. When will you ever believe that I would never do such to my sister?"

"When the truth is finally out. When I find my wife and child."

Penelope and Helen walked into the living room, looking super exhausted. They had gone to town to paste the missing posters of Amelia and her baby.

They kept asking people that passed by them if they had seen her, but they all kept saying the same thing. "No."

"Mother." Elena called as soon as she saw Penelope. She opened her arms and embraced her. "You look so stressed out." She added.

"Don't worry about me. We need to find Amelia and Alice first. We have been to almost everywhere in town, she is nowhere to be found" Penelope responded.

They both turned to look at Helen and they saw her sitting next to James. She placed his head on her shoulder and tried to calm him down.

"How is it going?" Helen asked the policemen.

"We are still on it. Don't worry, Ma'am. We'll find them."

Helen heaved a sigh and bounced her head. "You heard them, right? Can you please shower now? You are sweaty and stinky.

"I don't care about that..."

"But I do, okay? Take a shower. I'll be here with the police."

James reluctantly agreed to take a shower and he stood to his feet. He walked past Elena to the stairs and shot her a deadly glare.

'I had always known something was off about her.

She must be the one behind all this.'

When he was gone, Elena approached Helen and sat next to her. "Ma'am Helen, when will James believe that I have nothing to do about this? I honestly love Alice and Amelia. I'd never do such to her."

"You can't blame him, Elena. You haven't been so good to him since he knew you, but now you are so nice. It is truly suspicious."

"But I just wanted to be good to everyone." She mumbled and lowered her head in tears. Penelope clenched her jaws and looked at Helen.

"You don't have to make her feel bad. She has already been investigated and nothing has been found against her. Please talk to your son, Helen. I don't want him to complicate her. You are my friend, right? You can help me talk to him."

Helen exhaled and bounced her head.

"We've found a lead!" One of the policemen uttered, and they sprang to their feet.

"Where are they?" Penelope asked with her eyes popped wide open.

Fred stormed into the room where Amelia was with a large bag. He looked like he was under great pressure and this made Amelia curious.

"What is going on?"

"I'm packing the baby's things. We are moving."

"What?! Moving to where? I just got here. I haven't spent so much time with my baby. Are you going to kill us?..."

"Shut up!"

Amelia flinched and hurriedly lifted sleeping Alice from the bed into her arms.

"You are going to keep your mouth shut and let me concentrate. We are leaving here right now. I can't afford to get caught."

"Fred." Amelia called and approached him as he filled the bag with the clothes and shoes he had gotten for Alice.

"What? I asked..." The words of his mouth disappeared immediately he felt Amelia touch his bare arm from behind. He was wearing a singlet, which was beginning to get soaked.

His eyes fell shut automatically, and he inhaled and exhaled deeply. "What are you doing, Amelia?"

His words approached Amelia in a whisper.

"Look at me." She whispered softly, and he clenched his fist very tight.

He slowly turned to look at her, and as soon as his eyes met with hers, his heart melted even more. The look on her face was so soft and seductive to him.

"Fred." She called again and this time, she moved her hand to his face, after making sure she held Alice firmly to herself with her other hand. She placed her palm on his cheek and his eyes went shut again.

"Amelia." He whispered, held her hand to his face and began to rub his cheek against her palm softly.

"Why are you doing this to me, Fred? Please let me go." She muttered, rubbing his face with her palm. "I can't." He muttered.

"Why? Is there something I don't know? Is there someone telling you to do all this? Fred, I know you love me, but I'm not happy at all. If you truly love me, you'll let me go so that I can be happy again."

"Amelia..." He called softly, but was cut short when his phone vibrated in his pocket. He opened his eyes and let go of her hand suddenly.

Amelia gulped hard and watched him pull out his phone from his pants. Fred unlocked his phone and read the message that popped in from a familiar phone number.

"Have you left the house?! The police are on their way there. Don't say I didn't warn you. I won't be a part of this if things go south."

"Fred." Amelia called and wanted to touch him, but he backed away from her.

"Enough! Come with me!" He grabbed her arm and pulled her with him out of the room. He was opportuned to pack almost all the things he got for her child in the bag.

"Where are you taking us? Please, don't do this Fred. You are a nice person."

"You know nothing about me! Shut up, Amelia. I'm trying not to do something irrational to you right now. Please don't make that difficult."

He grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the house, while she held onto Alice firmly.

"Please slow down! Alice is sleeping."

A car pulled up in front of the house, creating a loud screeching sound.

"Get in!" He ordered her.

"Where is my car? What did you do to my car?"

"Get in, Amelia! I may be nice to you, but the driver isn't. He doesn't have so much time to waste. Now get in."

Amelia swallowed hard and bounced her head. Fred opened the back door for her, and she entered the car. She looked at the driver and saw he wore a very scary mask. Her eyes widened and she embraced her baby tighter.

"Go. Go." Fred said, and the car took off at great speed, almost yanking Amelia and her baby forward.

"Can you at least slow down?! She is sleeping, okay?!" Amelia yelled in terror and tears, but they paid no attention to her.

Two police cars and a private car pulled up in front of the house that the tracker directed them to. They stepped out of the car and the cops surrounded the house, fully prepared to attack.

James looked around and wondered how Amelia's phone got to be found somewhere that creepy. "How the hell did her phone get here?" He asked aloud.

"I'm as shocked as you are. This is almost a seven hours drive from the house. How did she get here? All these make no sense!" Helen added.

James looked around again and then sighted Elena meters away from them. She was on the phone.

"I'll be back, mom." He uttered and began to approach Elena quietly.

Penelope noticed what was going on and she walked up to Helen. "Why is he going after her?"

"Let them be, Penelope. You said she knew nothing about all this, right? Let him find that out himself." Helen responded. Penelope reluctantly nodded and folded her arms as they both watched them.

"I told you not to call me, what is wrong with you? I don't want to talk to you, okay? I'm in the middle of something, and you can't keep calling me!" Elena uttered in rage.

James suddenly snatched her phone and looked at the phone number.

"What is the meaning of this, James? Are you out of your mind?!" She smacked.

He moved away from her and placed the phone on his ear.

"I love you, Elena. Give me your heart. That man doesn't deserve your feelings." A man from the other end of the phone said.

James creased his brows and moved the phone away from his ear.

"Are you satisfied now? When will you ever believe that I would never hurt my sister and her baby?? What is wrong with you?!" Elena yelled and broke into tears.

She snatched her phone from him and ran out of his sight. James clenched his jaws and turned to look at her as she ran.

He saw their mothers staring at him and he lowered his head. 'What is wrong with you, James?' He thought to himself.

He walked back to where the cops were and waited for them to give him good news. They approached him and pulled him aside from everyone else.

"I'm sorry, Mr. James, but they had left here before we arrived. Looks like he has an informant from amongst us here."

He shut his eyes tight and bounced his head. "I suspected the same thing." He answered.

'Who is this informant?'
