A One Night Stand With My Boss

Chapter 396

Camila peered through the car window, trying to make out the face of the figure dressed in black. The night was too dark, and the rain blurred everything.

The figure pulled out a cellphone and made a call. Just then, Craig's phone rang unexpectedly. He glanced at the screen; it was an unfamiliar number. He hesitated, but then answered. "Hello, is this Mr. Craig? I'm delivering a meal from Mr. Connor," said a somewhat gruff voice on the other end.

Craig paused, and the figure in black turned the phone toward him, showing he was the caller.

Craig said, "Stay in the car, don't open the door."

He got out of the car alone. The figure handed him two insulated food containers. "I'm Joe, the village head from Oakville. The town council asked me to bring you hot meals." "Thank you," Craig said, taking the containers. "Did Connor contact the town council?"

Joe nodded. "Yeah, he reached out to them, and they gave me your license plate and phone number, told me to get you some food ASAP."

Craig sighed in relief, "Thanks a lot, I appreciate it."

Joe smiled, "No problem. I got here in 20 minutes on my bike; our village is closest to this highway. We just finished cooking dinner. It's just simple home cooking, hope you don't mind." "Not at all, thank you so much," Craig said, shaking Joe's hand.

Joe added, "You should get back in the car; it's still raining. Don't want you catching a cold. I've got to get back for dinner too."

With that, Joe disappeared into the rainy night.

Craig returned to the car and

Just then, Camila received a message from Connor.

"I asked someone nearby to bring you food. Eat up, don't go hungry."

Camila read the message, her lips curving into a smile, eyes glistening with tears. She quickly replied, "So touched- so touched- I'm so moved-"

Connor replied, "Couldn't air-drop, so road-dropped instead. When you get back, I'll take you out for a big meal."

Claire smiled too, "Connor's so thoughtful."

Camila opened the containers to reveal steaming home-cooked dishes, the aroma filling the car. She excitedly called everyone to share the meat and even sent Connora photo with the message, "So delicious, can't wait to dig in! Thanks~ mua~mua~muaTM Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Connor replied, "I want those kisses in person, sigh. Eat up and call me when you get home."

Camila felt a sweet warmth in her heart. "Roger that-"

The family gathered together, enjoying the hot food, and the gloomy mood from being stuck in traffic lifted.

Finally, after a long wait, the cars started moving. At eleven o'clock they slowly entered the village. The night outside was deep and quiet, broken only by the occasional barking of a distant dog.

As the sound of the car wheels became clearer, the silhouette of the Cole family home emerged in the night. Craig parked at the entrance.

Cole pushed open the wooden gate, and warm light spilled from the windows onto the dark courtyard. Camila and Claire followed, curiously looking around.

As the door opened, pairs of eyes turned to look at them.
