Chapter 59 It's a Girl
Chapter 59 It's a Girl
After breakfast, Jenson went to work with his briefcase.
Carolina had no appetite. After Jenson left, she prepared to go to the hospital.
Candy was still in the hospital. There had been no news from Maverick lately. Yesterday, she tried to
contact him but he was unconnected. She knew that Maverick had been fooling around with the
secretary recently. He told her he was on a business trip, but who knew what he was doing.
She had someone follow him to Weirdale but didn't hear anything from him afterward.
Since Carolina had been together with Maverick for so many years, she knew it might be true that
Maverick wasn't in the country as he often went to Italy and out of contact.
Thinking of this, Carolina was somewhat disappointed.
After so many years, she thought she had known Maverick the best. But she was wrong.
She was taking good care of Candy, but what was the use of that?
When she saw him being gentle to Candy, it made her believe that she would be able to seize his heart
as long as she had Candy with her. But when he cut off contact with everyone in the country, she knew
that he was a cruel man who would be willing to lose anyone even Candy.
Who would believe that such a cold-blooded man suddenly had a female secretary?
Just the mere thought of that made Carolina feel hatred instead of sorrow.
It was Everly!
"Seriously, don't you feel aggrieved? Let me make myself clear first. I won't marry the dude from the
Rice family! If you can't handle Maverick, leave him to me."
Miley raised her eyebrows and walked over. She might probably have guessed what Carolina was
thinking about, so she provoked her intentionally. "Everyone thinks you're Maverick's fiancée, but you
know it very well. You don't even know what your fiancé is thinking. You don't even dare to mess with
his secretary."
Carolina became angrier as what Miley had said was right.
However, unlike Miley, she could stay calm.
She could stay expressionless even if her heart was churning with rage.
"You're so capable, and you're even using Candy. If anything happens, I won't help you to carry it."
"You're so anxious for something to happen to me. I won't count on you to carry anything for me." Miley
shrugged her shoulders in disapproval. "But it's fine. I'm generous and don't fuss about it with you.
What our father said makes sense. Are you going to have something to do with Candy? Don't forget
that our father is a man who will go to any lengths."
Carolina glanced at Miley.
The truth was that Miley and Jenson were more alike. Speaking of being unscrupulous, Miley was more
than Carolina.
However, Carolina was a deep person who hid all her evil thoughts in her heart. Miley was different
who would show all her emotions.
She was extremely arrogant and reckless.
Carolina asked Miley as she suddenly thought of something, "Did you do something to Candy?"
Miley raised her eyebrows. There must be something she needed Carolina's cooperation. Otherwise,
she wouldn't be so thorough. "Just watch a good show. Also, don't talk too much when the time comes.
If you don't want anything to happen to our family, then follow my instructions."
Carolina snorted, but she partly agreed with what Miley had said.
She knew Miley was right. She hadn't received any response from Maverick although she had done
everything she could. She was kind to Candy, but Candy always talked about Ms. Everly. She knew it
was Everly Farley.
She had been taking care of Candy for many years, but she didn't expect that Candy could be so
ungrateful.
'Forget it. Why do I take it seriously?' she thought.
People needed to be taught to grow up. She had to go through something to know who could win her
trust.
...
Everly got off the plane with a haggard expression on her face.
She didn't have a good rest. She wasn't sure if things happened in Weirdale had an end. She could
only hand some work over to Jayden as she couldn't contact Maverick.
Jayden didn't tell her where Maverick was. But Jayden knew that Everly had a son.
Everly told Jayden that she had to go back to City C for something had happened to her son. Jayden
agreed with that.
When she walked out of the airport, she felt it was colder in City C. so she pulled up the collar.
It was raining, and the air smelt damp.
Everly stopped a taxi and went straight to the hospital with pain in her temples.
Along the way, what was echoing in her head was what Hendrix had told her.
"Something had happened to Edmond."
"What's the matter?"
"It's said that he accidentally ate rat poison at school. It's not very serious, and he also had his stomach
washed. More importantly, it involved another child. You need to come back, and I'll explain it to you in
detail."
...
Everly turned her head to look at the scenery flying past outside the window. She was anxious.
Back in the days when she was in America, she reflected on herself when Edmond occasionally felt
uncomfortable. She often wished she could quit her job and devote herself to her son.
But how would she be the breadwinner if she didn't have a job?
More often than not, she also wondered if she should find the biological father of Edmond, or marry
another man to support her family.
Edmond was considerate, but deep in his heart, he was also eager to have a father to love him.

Thinking of this, Everly's heart beat faster. She became more uneasy.
After half an hour, she finally arrived at the hospital. After confirming the ward number with Hendrix,
she immediately ran to the ward.
Hendrix was in the ward, two black-clothed bodyguards standing at the door.
This was the first time Everly had truly experienced that Hendrix was different from before. He was now
also a ruler standing at the top of the pyramid.
When Hendrix saw Everly running over, he stood up and apologized to her, "It's my fault. I've been
busy lately, and you're not at home. Mom has been worried since Dad underwent heart bypass surgery,
so no one could pay close attention to Edmond. But don't worry, he's fine now."
Everly's heart was still beating fast. She glanced at her sleeping son on the bed, and her eyes couldn't
help but turn red.
With her brother around, she didn't have to restrain her emotions.
She lumped in her throat. "Hendrix, it's not your fault. It's mine. I'm not a qualified mother."
"Don't blame yourself. No one wants this. You've already done a good job."
Everly sniffed. "Tell me everything."
"Edmond didn't get along with his classmates. I have sent someone to get the security footage. I felt
that he was set up. They told me that Edmond gave the water with rat poison to a kid and caused the
kid to ill. The school kept it under control. Later Edmond was excluded by other kids. To prove he was
innocent, he drank the water he gave the kid the other day. Only then did I know it."
Everly's heart skipped a beat as she heard what Hendrix said.
'They're only five years old, and they already have groups?' she wondered.
Edmond was a transfer student, so it would be understandable that he didn't get along with his
classmates. But she would never believe that Edmond had poisoned other kids.
"Who is the kid? Is there any other problem? Is he or she also in this hospital?"
The kids in the Crane Kindergarten either came from powerful or rich families.
Everly always felt that this matter shouldn't be as simple as it looked.
"I don't know which hospital it is, but it's a girl," Hendrix said.
