Chapter 46
Chapter 46
The partnership needed a few last details to be hashed out before it was finalized. Yoel got out of the car when it came to a stop in front of the Norah Group’s building.
Sage had ordered the upper management to gather for a meeting so that she might tell them that the piece of land near the outskirts of Salem will no longer be tumed into a golf course, but instead, will be transformed into a horse racing track.
She then stayed back to speed through some documents. After going through several documents, she received a call from home.
Miss Zamora, her house butler, had called to report that Yeva could not hold on any longer.
Sage’s eyes flickered She had almost forgotten about Yeva.
Yeva felt like she was going to die soon.
She could feel her soul leaving her body. She had never thought that she would die from starvation.
She had never expected that she would die from starvation
Yeva had never been this hungry all her life. The first day was not too bad as Yeva had told herself that she had been fasting or that she had been on a diet, but on the morning of the second day, Yeva’s hunger had awoken her.
She could no longer bear her hunger. She wanted to escape, but the door was locked, and when she tried the windows, she found that they too were locked. Even if she had managed to open the windows, Yeva did not have the courage to make the jump.
Sage had taken away her phone, and even the landline had been removed. Yeva had no way of contacting anyone for help. The only thing she had was the intercom that allowed her to contact the staff.
Yeva had finally lost her temper and had begun lashing out at Miss Zamora. “How dare you lowly servants lock me up? Let me remind you that you are all merely working for me! How audacious of you to think that you are much better than me! Let me out of this room right now, if not I’ll make sure that you’ll be sorry!”
Unfazed, Miss Zamora waited for Yeva to finish her cursing and replied, “Miss Yeva, Miss Sage had informed you that you have two options: you can either pick up the bread on the floor and admit that you are wrong, or you can continue starving.”
“You want me to apologize to her? Tell Sage that she can go f*ck herself!” Yeva cursed furiously and got off the intercom.
Miss Zamora did not pay any attention to her after that.
As soon as Sage returned home, she checked the CCTV to see how Yeva had been behaving for the past two days.
Yeva looked lifeless. Leaning against the side of the bed, she seemed to be mumbling something. She looked at the piece of bread o n the floor, gnawed her lips, and finally reached for it.
Just as she began devouring the bread like a starved animal, Sage stepped into the room.
Like someone who was caught red-handed, Yeva trembled in fear, and she started choking on the piece of cold bread.
She was coughing loudly when Sage walked up to her and hit her back, hard. Yeva spat out the piece of bread that was lodged in her throat. She felt as if Sage had broken her spine when she had smacked her back.
Perhaps it was the pain, or it might have been the coughing, tears were streaming down Yeva’s cheeks.
Yeva suddenly noticed a delicious smell, and she started sniffing around like a little dog.
Following the smell, she noticed the servants had a tray filled with different kinds of pastries.
Yeva immediately tried to pounce on the tray, but the servant had quickly handed the tray over to Sage.
Sage took the tray and calmly placed it on the coffee table. Sitting on the sofa, she glanced at Yeva who was kneeling on the floor.” So, do you know now what it really feels like to be starved?”
With tears in her eyes, Yeva nodded. She knew it all too well. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Sage asked again, “Do you admit that you’re wrong now?”
Yeva gritted her teeth, but she was too hungry to argue with Sage. Holding back the humiliation that she felt, Yeva nodded slowly while her eyes were fixed on the tray of food.
Sage then said, “Go on, you can have those.”
Yeva immediately rushed to the coffee table and started shoving food into her mouth. Looking at Yeva, Sage smirked to herself. She was proud that she had managed to tame Yeva in the end.
