Chapter 397 Comrades Had Been Killed
Chapter 397 Comrades Had Been Killed
"Yes, My Lord," answered the man.
Then, he left the house quietly.
Brian went straight to the Xia clan's house after he had talked to Sarah.
Now that Linda had moved back to her father's house, Charles would meet her there as well. Brian
knew that he could find them there.
"Linda, do you know where they have taken Bun to?"
Charles heard Brian's voice before he went into the house.
Linda shook her head and answered, "I don't know. They said that they were from the ZY Detective
Group, but they wouldn't tell me where they were going to take her."
Linda knew that even if she had asked them, they wouldn't tell her a thing. ZY Detective Group was a
famous investigative agency which had a certain authority in the society.
Whoever was taken by them could hardly walk out easily. If Charles couldn't find new evidence to prove
Bun's innocence, there was a strong possibility that she would be locked up. Brian frowned, worried to
death. He had never felt this anxious in his life, even when he was forced to marry Sarah. Even though
he couldn't be with Bun now because his family opposed their relationship, he believed that he could
work it out with Bun together as long as they loved each other.
However, the current situation was different.
Bun was taken in by ZY Detective Group. They were investigating Bun's identity. If they had found out
that Bun was Benson's daughter, they could accuse her of leaking state secrets.
If there was no new evidence, Bun probably would end up...
"Don't worry, Brian. Paul is helping us find the witnesses of Bun's treason case. If nothing goes wrong,
he will be able to bring back the witnesses tonight. Then, we can prove Bun's innocence, as well as her
father's."
The minutes ticked with excruciating slowness. They had waited for Paul the whole afternoon. They
could do nothing but wait with anxiety.
Linda was thinking about postponing her wedding with Charles.
If they couldn't get Bun released, she wouldn't hold their wedding tomorrow. Bun was still in danger,
and Brian was so worried about her.
Their wedding should be held together because they had all promised to do that. Linda always treated
Bun as her own sister, so she would never let anything bad happen to Bun.
"Charles, I'm worried. Paul has not come back, yet. What if he cannot find any witnesses?"
"Don't worry. He will. Back then, Benson had several comrades who were very close to him. They
would know something about what had happened to Benson. I believe we can find out the truth after
we talk to them."
Charles comforted Brian in a low voice. He could feel Brian's anxiety from the expression on his face.
Brian was worried that he might not be able to see Bun again.
At around 10 PM, Paul was back, but he didn't have anyone with him.
Looking at Paul's serious face, Linda had a bad hunch.
"Paul, what happened? Weren't you supposed to be bringing the witnesses to us?" Linda asked
anxiously.
Paul's face went grim as he told them what had happened, "Yes, but there was an accident on our way
back. I did find two witnesses. They were both Benson's close comrades. As they were responsible for
Benson's safety, they followed Benson everywhere. They could prove that Benson didn't leak any state
secrets to anyone. Besides, I've met a comrade of Sarah's father, Shawn Shen. He said he saw Shawn
sneak out at that very night, but he didn't have the chance to tell anyone about what he saw."
"And? Where are they now?"
Lowering his head, Paul sighed and said, "I'm sorry, My Lady. I didn't do my job well. I failed to bring
them here. On our way back, when we passed through the boundary of JS City and SH City, they were
shot by an assassin before I had realized what was going on."
As expected, this thing was bound to happen. Patting Paul on the shoulder, Charles spoke softly, "Don't
feel bad. You've tried your best."
Now, they had lost all the witnesses. If these three people could show up and reveal what they knew,
they could have proven Bun's innocence. Linda shook her head with a sigh.
Brian doubled up his fists and said, "I never thought that Sarah would be so vicious. It seems that her
father is the one who had leaked the state secrets. What's worse, he had framed Bun with treason. I
can't believe that Sarah would turn Bun in for a crime she didn't even commit. Bun has been made a
scapegoat. How could they do something so evil?"
Brian was furious about Bun being framed, but he could do nothing about it.
"What should we do now, Young Master Mu? We have lost our last hope," asked Paul worriedly.
"Did they say anything before they died?"
"Shawn's comrade had mentioned something before he died. His last words were 'JSZJ City', but he
failed to finish his sentence..."
"JSZJ City? What did he mean by that?" Brian asked anxiously.
Linda thought about it carefully as well, and then she asked, "Do you know how many comrades were Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
close to Shawn back then?"
Charles answered, "There should be two. Both Benson and Shawn should have gotten two comrades
each to protect them."
"One of Shawn's comrades was shot. How about the other one? Also, why would he mention JSZJ
city? Could it be that the other comrade is in JSZJ city now?" Linda suspected.
Charles glanced at Paul. Paul understood what he meant at once, so he said, "Yes, Young Master. I'll
have WSS carry out an investigation right away."
"Please hurry," ordered Charles.
WSS had conducted the investigation at once, and they gave their findings to Paul twenty minutes
later. It turned out that the other comrade of Shawn had been living in JSZJ City, but he died right after
the accident.
Linda felt that something was off.
These two comrades must have known each other. If the comrade living in JSZJ City had already died,
the one with Paul wouldn't have mentioned it. There was a strong possibility that the comrade in JSZJ
City was still alive. But why? Why would he fake his death? What was he trying to hide from?
He might know about Shawn's secrets. Was that why he faked his death? Was he afraid that he would
get killed by Shawn?
Linda thought of all kinds of possibilities in a very short time. WSS might have missed something.
Charles found it strange as well.
"Go deep into it," Charles ordered briefly.
Another twenty minutes later, Paul came back and reported, "Young Master, WSS has dug out some
more information. The comrade's name was Michael Xie, but it seems that he is now living under the
name of Mike Xie. He is currently living in JSZJ city. Even though he has tried hard to hide his tracks
for a dozen years, we found a trail of clues showing that he is still alive."
"Let's take action immediately. Do you have his address? We can go to JSZJ City right now," Linda
decided.
"Yes, we have," Paul nodded.
"Babe, you shouldn't go there. You are pregnant, and it's already 11 o'clock. I will go with Brian and
Paul, and I will bring Mike Xie back by myself."
