In the darkened corridor outside the ancient manor, Alpha Kilian, his eyes gleaming in the moonlight, surveyed the surroundings with caution. Satisfied that they were alone, he spoke in a grave tone, “Go on!”
Fabian, his voice hushed and respectful, began to reveal what he had discovered. “I have gathered some information about the individual you instructed me to investigate. The Bloodmoon pack and its ruthless members have been bitter enemies with us, the Moonwalk pack, for countless years. We have always clashed over valuable resources. It seems that, by some twisted fate, the Bloodmoon pack’s henchmen are now present in our territory. However, I am clueless as to why they are here. Regardless, the person in question is not among them,” Fabian disclosed.
Alpha Kilian’s obsidian eyes narrowed slightly as he processed this information. A mixture of emotions flickered in his gaze, though their meaning remained enigmatic. Could this all be a mere coincidence?
He found it hard to believe that such a bizarre twist of fate could occur in their world.
“Alpha Morris, what course of action should we take next? Shall I assemble our forces to intercept their goods tomorrow?” Fabian inquired, his voice tinged with eagerness.
But Alpha Kilian swiftly halted his subordinate’s proposal. “No, do not do that!” he commanded. Fabian’s confusion was evident on his face as he questioned, “Then what shall we do instead?”
Alpha Kilian’s authoritative voice filled the corridor. “We shall tip off the Bloodmoon pack’s men about our plans,” he declared.
Perplexed, Fabian ventured to ask, “Alpha Morris, why would you choose to do that? I heard that this shipment of goods is exceedingly valuable, and it will be on our own turf. We stand to gain a substantial profit from intercepting and reselling them. It would also serve as retribution for their past actions. Why let others reap the benefits instead?”
Alpha Kilian’s tone grew harsh as he explained his reasoning, “Because the Bloodmoon pack is our sworn enemy, and there is a possibility they may align with the Midnight Fang pack, our mutual foe. Who knows, in the future they might prove useful to us. Consider this a favor we do for them, for now.”
“But, Alpha Morris, I doubt that people who risk their lives for a living, like them, will appreciate such a gesture,” Fabian cautioned, wariness etching his features.
“Even if that is the case, will we truly suffer any losses?” Alpha Kilian challenged him.
“But, Alpha Morris, it is money we are talking about!” Fabian argued, flabbergasted. “An immense sum of money! Are funds so plentiful that we can afford to disregard them?”NôvelDrama.Org © content.
Alpha Kilian’s voice sounded resolute as he replied, “Am I lacking in funds?” The question hung heavily in the air, leaving Fabian speechless. He quickly realized the absurdity of his argument. Alpha Morris was a man of immense wealth, his financial resources seemingly limitless. His knack for business surpassed even the most cunning entrepreneurs. With a newfound sense of awe, Fabian struggled to find his words.
As the silence lingered, Fabian finally found the courage to speak. “Alpha Morris, I fear that others might grow jealous of your unshakable confidence. They may turn their attention towards you instead of the goods we covet.”
Narrowing his eyes, Alpha Kilian’s voice came out in a dangerous snarl. “And what if they do? Are you now scheming against me?”
Caught off guard by the sudden shift in his Alpha’s tone, Fabian hastily backtracked. “Alpha Morris, I was only joking! You know that, right?” His voice dripped with flattery as he desperately tried to amend his mistake.
“Fabian, it is time you worked on your sense of humor. Otherwise, you may find yourself reduced to a security guard at Morris Corporation,” Alpha Kilian hinted with a touch of humor.
Sheepishly, Fabian responded, “Ah! Alpha Morris, you truly have developed a sense of humor!” His attempt at defusing the tension fell flat as Alpha Kilian chose not to respond.
Just as Fabian wondered how badly he had erred this time, a flicker of doubt crossed his mind. “By the way, Alpha Morris, are you doing all of this for the sake of the former Mrs. Morris?”
“It should be Mrs. Morris!” Alpha Kilian emphasized.
Dismayed, Fabian cursed himself silently. Had he misspoken yet again? Was his intellect diminishing before his very eyes?
“Alpha Morris, it appears that the Bloodmoon pack’s men are on the move once more. I must be going now. Inform me immediately if anything else comes up,” Fabian tactfully announced. He abruptly ended the call, leaving Alpha Kilian with no opportunity to respond.
With the phone still in his hand, Fabian’s heart pounded in his chest. My God! I actually hung up on Alpha Morris! Have I gone completely mad? But no matter, even if things take a turn for the worst, I can still make a living alongside Ms. Jackson! A surge of determination washed over him as he considered his alternatives.
Meanwhile, Alpha Kilian allowed a rare smile to grace his lips as he observed his phone.
After pocketing his phone and preparing to depart, he caught sight of a figure in the distance. Raising an eyebrow, he called out, “Tony?”
Tony, meeting his gaze with a smile, caused Alpha Kilian to momentarily lose himself. The young man bore an uncanny resemblance to his own visage.
Quickly regaining his composure, Alpha Kilian questioned, “When did you arrive?”
“A little while ago. Thalia has already reached the main entrance. I am here waiting for her,” Tony explained. Alpha Kilian, without much thought, nodded and began walking towards Tony. “Tony,” he called out.
Tony remained fixed on him with unwavering eyes. “Have you forgiven me?” Alpha Kilian, after some thought, abandoned any pretense of formality and spoke to Tony as a friend rather than a stern father figure.
Taken aback, Tony asked, “Why are you asking me this?” He couldn’t help but smile, sensing the intentions behind Alpha Kilian’s question.
Alpha Kilian nodded in confirmation.
Without hesitation, Tony admitted, “To be honest, I’m no longer angry with you.”
