Alpha Kilian responded with a smirk, “That’s a great plan you’ve got there. I’ll come out of hiding, take over Darknetz, and then retire again. I’ll do all the hard work while you sit back and enjoy everything on a silver platter. Do you really think I’m that foolish?”
Dave shot back, “Let’s not put it like that. DX is also your creation. You can’t just abandon it after giving birth to it. Sometimes, you have to take responsibility like a parent.”
Alpha Kilian glared at Dave. “I won’t take that credit. You’re the one who raised and nurtured DX to what it is today, so you’re the one responsible for it. I won’t interfere in its affairs so it doesn’t drift away from you.”
Dave didn’t know how to respond to that.
After a short pause, Dave regained his serious tone. “I’m just concerned about your safety. Holden will find you sooner or later, even if you’re retired. What will you do then?”
“That’s none of your business.”
“Fine, I won’t worry about you, but have you thought about your girlfriend and future kids? What if Holden goes after them for revenge?”
A dangerous look gleamed in Alpha Kilian’s eyes. “He wouldn’t dare!”
“I don’t know if he’ll dare or not, but he might. Be careful,” Dave warned.
It’s fine if he doesn’t come out of retirement. I hope this serves as a warning to him, though.
The ferocity in Alpha Kilian’s gaze softened slightly, but anger still simmered beneath the surface. His expression remained stern.
After a moment, he said, “I won’t give him that chance.”
“He’s been searching for you all these years. Despite my best efforts, I can’t stop him forever,” Dave added. “Just watch your back.”
“Is Holden still causing trouble for DX?” Alpha Kilian asked.
“Not as much after you retired, but there’s still tension between us,” Dave explained.
“Darknetz has been growing fast and has people all over the world. Be careful. Call me if you have any problems,” Alpha Kilian said.
Dave narrowed his eyes. “You mean…”
“Even though I’ve washed my hands of DX, I’m still the founder. I won’t let anyone bully it,” Alpha Kilian said.
“That’s good to hear.”
“But I won’t interfere in everything,” Alpha Kilian added.
“Don’t worry. I’m just glad you won’t neglect DX completely. I won’t bother you with minor issues,” Dave promised.
I just wanted his assurance in the end. I can handle DX on my own, but I miss the time when I founded DX with Alpha Kilian. It felt complete and vibrant with him around. Even though he ignored everything that happened to DX over the years, I knew his heart was still with us, and that’s enough for me.
Dave felt better when he thought about that.
He turned to Miguel. “Check again. See if you can find that group of hackers from Midnight fang pack.” Miguel nodded.
“And how is Boss doing?” Dave asked. “He’s still at the Midnight fang pack headquarters.”
“What about the person I asked you to find?” Dave questioned.
Miguel shook his head. “It’s strange, you know. I couldn’t trace the location of that phone call, no matter how hard I tried. I even asked my friends for help, but no one could find it. It’s like a pro is behind it. But there aren’t many hackers more skilled than us on this planet.” “Do you have any suspects?”
“Besides Shadow Seeker and Anonymous, there are a few people with better skills than me, so I can’t say for sure,” Miguel shrugged.
Dave glanced at Alpha Kilian with concern. “J, one thing’s certain. That woman has a professional helping her. After we failed to catch her last time, we turned our focus to Boss, but it would be easier if we knew who was helping her. Any idea?”Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
Alpha Kilian lowered his gaze.
Who else could it be? It’s a joke if they think they can find her with their methods. Alpha Kilian didn’t give a straight answer. “Use the most basic method to find her.”
“The most basic… Are you sure?” Dave asked.
“Since technology won’t work, let’s go old school. It never gets old,” Alpha Kilian said.
Dave raised an eyebrow, not objecting to the suggestion. “Alright, but it might take a while.”
“It’s better than waiting helplessly,” Alpha Kilian said.
Dave nodded and motioned for Miguel to carry out the orders. Just as Miguel was about to leave, Alpha Kilian stopped him.
Miguel looked back.
After thinking for a moment, Alpha Kilian warned, “She may not use personal information, so be cautious. Focus on the person, not the data.”
“Got it.” Miguel nodded and went on his way.
Dave started, “Your woman knows a lot about evading detection.” He paused briefly before looking at Alpha Kilian. “What kind of person is she?”
