Chapter 10: I Love Him
Chapter 10: I Love Him
She smiled. "There are many good men, but he is the best."
Thomas struck her across the face again as soon as she finished her words.
...
Alvera raised her head and wiped the blood off the corner of her mouth. She smiled, but her voice was
cold.
"Are you done?"
"Alvera, what are you trying to do?" Thomas looked at her with his teeth clenched.
"You slapped me, and you're asking me what I'm trying to do?" she retorted. "I'm a little confused, Mr.
Earhart. Why don't you tell me the answer?"
"I want you to leave Roland immediately."
"Never." Alvera slightly raised her eyebrows. "I love him."
"Are you not ashamed of taking your sister's man?"
"This question might be better suited for your daughter," she said. "If anything, she's the one who is the
other woman in this situation. I have nothing to lose."
"You..." Thomas raised his hand again.
Alvera stood up and grabbed Thomas's wrist.
"Mr. Earhart, you slapped me twice just now," she said coldly. "The first is in return for our blood
relation, and the second for the reluctant and cruel upbringing. One more slap, and I'll leave Calgary
right away. Andrina Earhart can die for all I care. Think carefully."
"How dare you threaten me?"
"Yes, I dare." Alvera smiled brightly.
"Fine, Alvera, since you don't want to listen to my advice, you just continue on. Roland and Andrina
have a great relationship, he would never leave her for the likes of you. I can't wait to see how happy
you end up!" Thomas turned and slammed the door as he left.
...
Alvera bit her lips, walked towards the windows, and sat down. She took out a piece of candy from her
pocket and ate it, gazing out of the window morosely.
She didn't need to feel happy. She just wanted them hurt badly.
Alvera was almost half asleep on the windowsill when the door to her ward was pushed open again.
She turned her head towards the sound. It was Roland.
The sunlight streamed in from the window and cast a light on her.
With her back to the sunlight, she smiled brightly at him.
Roland was transfixed for a moment.
The woman in front of him looked more like an elf that had lost her way in the human world than a
human.
...
"Well, if it isn't Mr. Francois. What are you doing here instead of waiting by your beloved woman?"
Alvera said.
"The surgeons have set a time for the surgery," he said.
"I know. They told me."
She got off the window sill and poured herself a glass of water.
Roland's brows furrowed when he saw the palm-shaped marks on her face. "What's wrong with your
face?"
...
"My face?" She was confused for a moment before covering her left cheek. "Oh, this? I walked into the
door and hit myself earlier."
Roland's eyes were cold. He knew Alvera was lying, but if she did not want to tell him, he didn't care
anyway.
...
He turned to leave, but stopped and turned back, "When did you know you could save Andrina?"
Alvera turned to look at him, her expression was cold.
The scumbag who sent her to prison was asking her this?
He really did not care about her at all.
If he really wanted to know, he could have just looked it up. There was no need to ask her.
She smiled dryly. "I don't remember."
Roland's eyes were cold. He could tell that she was lying to him again.
He took a last glance at her and turned to leave.
He knew that this woman was resenting him. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Fine by him. He didn't like her anyway.
When he returned to Andrina's ward, she was crying hysterically.
"Roland," she called him sorrowfully.
...
Roland frowned when he saw the mess in the ward. "What's going on?"
"Roland, I don't want to do the surgery. Alvera is the donor, I can't let her suffer for me!! I would rather
die!" she cried.
"You didn't know?"
"I don't know!" Andrina continued. "I wouldn't have agreed to let my parents do such a ridiculous thing if
I had known. Alvera is a living person."
Luna was also crying. "Andrina, I didn't want to do this either, Alvera volunteered! She asked for ten
million dollars from your father yesterday, that's the reward she asked for donating her liver to you."
"She asked ten million dollars from you?" Roland asked coldly.
