Chapter 196
Chapter 196
Salina feigned annoyance, “You even kept it a secret that Howie’s the CEO of Summit Corp
Quentin replied with a hint of regret “Honestly, I was out of the loop too Mr. Chadwick and the executives kept it under wraps. Only the key players knew. I’m just an aide”
He did as he was instructed, without rising any questions.
Tm not blaming you just pulling your log”
Selina croned her neck, Is Howie in his office?” Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
“Yeah.”
Leading the way, Quentin said, “Lately, our company’s swamped with business, and Mr. Chadwick’s been up to his neck in it.”
As Selina looked around at the office decorations and displays, she felt the weight of Howard’s influence. If only she hadn’t…
But dwelling on the past was pointless.
She couldn’t let him go again.
“Mr. Chadwick’s office is just up ahead.”
*Thanks, I can take it from here. You go ahead with your work.”
Selina politely dismissed Quentin and turned to the break room. After a moment of hesitation, she stepped inside.
Ten minutes later.
She walked towards the CEO’s office, holding a steaming cup of coffee.
“Come in,” Howard mumbled, remaining hunched over his paperwork without even glancing up.
Selina approached slowly, the scent of her perfume wafting through the air,
“Mr. Chadwick, your coffee. Summer Rose without sugar or cream.” Selina spoke with a playful lilt, “I remember it used to be your favorite.”
Howard slowly lifted his gaze, frowning at her.
“Coffee is bad for the health. I’ve lost my taste for it”
Selina felt a pang of sadness, “Howie, I know you’ve been holding a grudge. Im not asking for us to be as close as we used to be, but can’t you be a little nicer to me? It really hurts.”
“This isn’t where you belong.”
Howard pressed the intercom with a stern voice, “Quentin, do you not want your job anymore?”
“Howie, it’s my fault! I begged Quentin to let me in.
Selina quickly grabbed his hand, pressing down the phone. ‘Don’t be mad at him, I just wanted to see you.”
Howard pulled his hand away and wiped it with a tissue, “Are you done?”
Tears filled Selina’s eyes, “Do you really hate seeing me that much?”
“Conflict of interest.” Howard said coldly. “Tm married.”
“You were unconscious at the time. What kind of marriage
e is that? Did you even have a ceremony?” Selina stood before Howard, vulnerable and breaking down.
She cried pitifully, her grief profound.
“We have a marriage license, legally recognized.
Selina cleaned her tears to appear strong. “‘know you still blame me. But I didn’t leave by choice, my family forced me to go abroad.”
Howard closed the project proposal, looking at her, “What does that have to do with me?”
His eyes were cold and indifferent, looking at Selina as if she were a complete stranger.
Standing up, he said, “You should leave.”
Selina choked back sobs, “Wasn’t that message you flaunted on the big screen during Summit Corp’s grand opening just to stick it to me?”
Howard scoffed and turned to leave.
Selina clutched at his sleeve, pleading. “Howie, where are yo
are you going?”
To pick up my wife from work ”
Howard spoke with detachment, “nd ask that you keep your distance.
