And The Daddy Is… The Infertile Guy?!

Chapter 236

Chapter 236

“Will you really fix my face?” Candy asked, smiling through her teary–eyed gaze.

“Hey, a promise is a promise. I can spare an hour after work daily, or you could swing by Bayridge Hospital and catch me during my clinic hours,” Gwendolyn replied.

Candy eagerly responded, “Il register at the hospital. You’re actually kinda awesome.”

She had thought the Walker family was done for but Gwendolyn had shown them mercy. She was nothing like the brash and unreasonable person Selina had described.

Mrs. Walker said with a relieved smile, “Ms. Chadwick, you’ve been so kind. We won’t forget this favor. If there’s anything we can do for you, just name it.”

Valor snorted, “As if they’d need help from the Walkers when the my family is around.”

The position of top lackey was his, and he wasn’t going to let anyone else have it.

Mrs. Walker offered an awkward smile in return..

“We’ll iron out the contract details tomorrow” Howard said nonchalantly. “Gwendolyn has her job to return to, so we won’t keep you any longer.

“Sorry to bother you, and we’ll head out now,” Mrs. Walker said, her words dipped in politeness as she ushered Candy out the door.

Valor followed suit, but not without throwing in a waming, “Candy, don’t you dare pull any more stunts. Gwen might forgive you, but I sure won’t let it slide next time.”

Flushing with indignation, Candy shot back, “You’re a playboy. What gives you the right to lecture me?”

“I might not be Mr. Perfect, but I play fair and square,” he declared with a flourish and strode off, feeling quite pleased with himself.

Candy’s eyes welled up with tears, “I know I messed up, but he didn’t have to say it like that.”

Mrs. Walker watched Valor’s retreating figure and said softly, “Why don’t you marry Valor?”

Candy’s eyes widened in disbelief, “Are you out of your mind?”

Both families are in real estate. A partnership would be formidable. The Petersons are an upright bunch, and Valor’s a good man.”

“He’s a heartbreaker” Candy protested. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

“The Petersons are known for their strong wives. Hell settle down once married.”

“I won’t marry him.”

Mrs. Walker sighed, “Given your current situation, you really aren’t his match”

Candy felt as if she’d been dealt a crushing blow. She’d never imagined a day when she wouldn’t be good enough for the Peterson’s black sheep.

She got into the car dazed, and began deleting the online comments on her phone.

After a long hesitation, Candy sent several voice messages to Selina

At that moment, Selina was at the Lopez mansion.

The fifth–floor bedroom was swarming with doctors in white coats.

Claude had suffered a cardiac arrest, and chaos ensued as they tried to resuscitate him. Selina stepped out of the room and played Candy’s voice messages.

“Selina, I think Gwendolyn’s a good person, not some country bumpkin. She’s beautiful, a brilliant doctor, and she’s got class.” “Howard looks like he’s crazy about Gwendolyn. If she saves my life, I could love her, too. Selina, maybe you should let Howard go.”

“Mom always says fate is written in the stars. You and Howard just weren’t meant to be.”

“With your credentials, you could have anyone. Ryan’s not a bad choice either.”

Inside, Selina seethed with rage. As if she’d settle for Ryan, that lapdog.

She wanted Howard, and he was supposed to be hers.

What spell had Gwendolyn cast to eventum Candy against her?

Selina’s face twisted with frustration as she looked at the comatose figure who had been bedridden for decades. Remembering a secret she had inadvertently overheard, a new plot began to take shape in her mind.
