Chapter 80
Chapter 80
Valor was no fool and figured it all out soon, taking a deep breath.
With his explosive investment schemes, Howard had played the big guys for fools, and with a miracle doctor like Gwendolyn at his side, he was playing coy, a wolf in sheep’s clothing indeed.
His eyes bulged as he stared at Howard and Gwendolyn. “You… you two…”
“What about us?” Howard’s tone was menacing.
“You’re… a match made in heaven,” Valor stuttered, shaking like a leaf. “Mum’s the word, I swear. Not a peep.”
It was a pity that he’d recently sworn off women himself. His mother was trying for a sibling to secure the family lineage.
“I won’t tell a soul!” Valor raised his hand as if taking an oath. “Or may I be cursed with no heir to carry on my name, my entire lineage wiped out!”
On the spot, Howard drafted a non–disclosure agreement.
It demanded Valor abstain from sexual intercourse for three months and keep Gwendolyn’s medical talents a secret, or he would give out all the Peterson family’s properties to Howard.
With tears in his eyes, Valor signed the dreaded agreement, consoling himself that it was only for three months.
Gwendolyn handed him a clean towel. “Mr. Peterson, you might want to clean that lipstick mark on your face.”
“Thanks,” he murmured, erasing the “marks of valor” from his cheeks.
For three months, he’d be living like a monk. He felt like a man sitting on a goldmine he couldn’t exploit, a bizarre mix of joy and frustration.
“You can leave now,” Howard said coldly.
“Off I go,” Valor sighed heavily, shuffling out of the living room.
Gwendolyn felt a weight lift from her shoulders, finally able to relax.
Then Howard suddenly asked, “On your first day here, you kissed me like crazy. How did you feel about that?”
Gwendolyn went stiff. Slowly, she turned to face him.
“Were you just as eager then?” His words seemed to hover on the tip of his tongue before finally being spoken.
… She struggled to explain but didn’t know where to start. NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
While watching her stammer, a forbidden thought rose in Howard’s mind.
“In time,” his voice husky and alluring, “you’ll continue to live a nun’s life, but if you can’t help it, I’m here to… satisfy any cravings.”
They were, after all, legally husband and wife.
Gwendolyn’s face blushed as she hurried to clarify. “I’m not that… horny!”
The words only made her predicament worse.
Howard raised an eyebrow. “Modern medicine says treating an ailment is like managing a flood. Better to channel than to block.”
He stated earnestly, “I understand dopamine doesn’t ask for permission. I can be your relief.”
He had always been a model of restraint. But the more he held back, the more potent his desires became after being provoked, ready to burst forth like a storm surge.
Gwendolyn stood there, biting her lip, feeling utterly wronged.
Yet she knew no amount of explaining would clear her name at this time.
She was clueless that the Howard she pegged as a “good guy” was actually quite a trickster.
Gwendolyn had been subtly toyed with and didn’t even notice the adult thoughts whirling in his mind. She clumsily changed the subject. “Where’s Marina?”
“She’s out for a walk.”
“Oh.” She replied, then she asked, “Are you hungry, Mr. Chadwick?” She hadn’t had dinner
yet.
“Not really. I’m heading to my room. You should get some rest, too.” Seizing the moment of calm, Howard left with the non–disclosure agreement in his hand.
Gwendolyn stood for a long while, patting her flushed cheeks lightly.
She didn’t need any relief.
Meanwhile, in a luxurious hotel, two bodies were entwined in the throes of passion.
