Chapter 92
Chapter 92
“Cut the ties with the Chadwick family? Howard, you…” Roselind gaped at him, her eyes wide with shock.
“The main branch orchestrated the car accident, and Waldo was their hitman sent for me. Warren was in on it. He agreed to disown me because he feared I would spill the beans. and tarnish the family’s good name.”
Howard’s voice was as cold as ice. “Waldo was never Enoch’s apprentice.”
Roselind felt as if she had plunged into an icy abyss.
Jameson stood agape, dazed, like a walking corpse.
“I’m going to confront Jarvis! I’ll make them pay!” Roselind’s eyes blazed with madness, but Gwendolyn held her back.
The dignified lady clung to Gwendolyn, sobbing so hard that she could hardly catch her breath.
“So, Waldo was a fraud!” Her eyes were swollen red. “Can’t they be punished?”
Howard shook his head. “Warren has covered their tracks. There’s no way to bring them
to justice.”
Roselind slumped, defeated. “Howard, what about your legs?”
Howard gripped her hand, looking deep into her eyes. “Mom, there’s still a way. You won’t lose me. You’ll see a better me.”
Roselind’s gaze lingered on him, a mix of understanding and uncertainty.
“Really?” Her voice was feather–light.
“Yes.
“Then I believe you.” She was willing to believe in her son unconditionally.
Wiping away her tears, Roselind managed a watery smile. “If cutting ties is what it takes, so be it. We never benefited from the main house anyway. What w thanks to your hard work.”
She was a woman of reason, but Jameson seemed more shaken.
“Gwendolyn, you’re a doctor. Please, take good care of Howard.”
“I’ll take excellent care of him,-Gwendolyn promised.
have now is all
Roselind ruffled her hair affectionately. “I knew you were a good kid. The main branch of the Chadwick family has wronged my son. I can’t take them down, but I can surely give them a headache.”
She grabbed Jameson’s hand. “Let’s go!”
“Where to go?”
“To give them a headache!” Roselind declared, always decisive in her actions.
After they left, Gwendolyn was a bit worried. “You don’t think she’ll get into trouble, do you?”
“She won’t let herself be at a disadvantage,” Howard spoke calmly, “Let’s head back to the NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.
room.”
“Okay.”
Back in the room, Gwendolyn helped Howard out of his shirt. His body was a map of bruises and swollen marks.
“Just superficial wounds,” he remarked.
Gwendolyn fetched some ointment to reduce the bruising and applied it gently in circles. “Thank goodness, it’s not your legs, or I’d be worried.”
“It looks worse than it is,” he replied, his gaze drifting to the red marks on her arms. “Go lock the door.”
.” She obediently closed and locked the door.
“Gwendolyn, take off your clothes.” She had just turned around when his deep voice filled the room.
Gwendolyn froze, staring at him.
“There’s a wound on your back. Let me help you with the ointment,” Howard added.
“No, I can… I’ll do it later,” she said hastily.
His eyes softened and his voice lowered. “You can’t quite reach it, can you? Let me check out that wound.”
“But…” she hesitated shyly.
“If this was a battle we fought together, then I want to see the scars of your bravery,” he said earnestly, his eyes free of any desire.
