Chapter 567 I Am Just Tired
Chapter 567 I Am Just Tired
"Dear me, dear me, Avery. It looks like you are still nowhere near as important to Adolf as Albert, even
though you've been working together for so long. After all, Albert is his brother whereas you, you're just
a tool for him to earn some money," Zed suddenly said to Avery in a sarcastic tone.
"Zed, stop it." Avery's face had turned pale and she was really horrified to hear Zed say these things
right in front of Adolf. "Adolf has always been nice to me. Though he might lose his temper sometimes,
we are still good friends," she explained in a hurry.
"That's enough. You both stop it." Adolf interrupted her with a serious expression on his face before she
could even finish her sentence. Then he turned towards Zed and remarked in a displeased tone, "Mr.
Qi, no matter how I treat the celebrity that I'm in charge of, it's none of your business."
"Right. Adolf, are you enraged now?" Zed lifted the corner of his lips and sarcastically asked, "And
what's that you said? Celebrity? To you, Avery is still just a celebrity while she herself is calling you a
friend. Adolf, it isn't very fair, is it?"
"What do you want?" Adolf angrily roared as he looked at Zed with a flame of rage burning in his eyes.
"What are you here for? Are you really here to pick up Avery to see your wife? Are you really here to Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
see if I'm mistreating her?"
As he became more and more furious, his voice got louder and louder.
"Shh..." Zed reminded him to be quiet and put on a smile, an even calmer one this time. "Are you going
to let Avery leave with us since you already know what we are here for?"
"Of course not!" Adolf sneered at once. He stared into Zed's eyes and added in a cold tone, "Even if I
need to break the contract, I won't allow Avery to get in touch with you guys any more. I am doing it for
her own good so that she doesn't listen to you guys and get angry with Albert and me."
"Adolf, I'm not displeased with you," Avery hurriedly tried to control the situation as she explained in an
anxious voice. "I'm just tired. I'm really, really tired. It's been three years since I became a celebrity and
I've been working so hard from that time. What's more, my schedule has always been so tight. I kept
going on and shooting for movies, and TV series and what not. I haven't even rested for one day in
those three years.
Adolf, please, let me have a rest, alright? I was too tired and I didn't have a good rest. That's why I'm
sick now and end up in the hospital this time. I promise that I'll just rest for three days. Three days later,
I'll do whatever you ask me to."
Avery pledged a promise to him as she stared at Adolf's serious face. She really did look poor and sick
right now.
The air seemed to have solidified. The atmosphere was unsettlingly quiet and embarrassing.
Zed and Moore turned towards Avery as they were stunned to hear that she hadn't had a single day of
rest in three years.
How terrible!
She was not a robot. She was a human!
Even a robot needed to be well maintained and given some moments to recover from wear and tear.
"Adolf." Moore broke the silence suddenly as he felt sorry for Avery and angry with Adolf. "I'm Avery's
classmate. We didn't have much friendly interaction at that time but I used to teach her Chinese. We
lost touch with each other ever since we graduated and this is the first time we have met in four years.
But when hearing Avery plead you so hard just for three days of vacation, I feel so sad. She's not a
robot. She can be tired. When she is busy, you will definitely be busy as well. Don't you feel tired? Don't
you feel sorry for her on hearing her words?
I'm really grieved to hear that and I pity her. She used to be such an optimistic girl. And look what
tiredness and a busy schedule has done to her now! She is an exquisite celebrity in public. But no one
knows how much pain she is bearing in private. If you really want to do what's good for her, please take
good care of her and let her have enough rest."
"Moore." Avery hadn't expected that he would speak out for her and she stopped just at his name. Her
throat was sour and tears were lingering in her eyes.
Seeing her pale face, Moore reached out his hand and tapped her shoulder. "Don't worry. It doesn't
matter whether Adolf agrees with us or not, you're coming with us tonight. We'll help you get some rest,
food, and sleep."
"I believe you." Upon hearing Moore's soothing words, Avery nodded her head firmly.
Albert had been watching them from the side and now, his eyes were filled with flames of rage.
"Adolf, I told you that Avery is an ingrate. She described herself as so poor and so to make you look
like a jerk. Now do you believe me, huh? She doesn't deserve your sacrifice. If it weren't for her, you
would have..."
Albert's eyes were flashing red in rage but his dialogue was interrupted in between.
"Shut up!" Adolf roared in a freezing voice.
Zed put on a serious look at once when he saw Adolf's angry face and Albert's evil and forbearing look.
He believed that things were not that simple now.
Sacrifice for Avery?
What more could a manager sacrifice for a celebrity than his time and efforts? All he had to do was
manage her social life.
But judging from Albert's words, there was something else going on which couldn't be seen from the
surface.
Had Adolf done anything else for Avery?
Something that even Avery didn't know?
Zed glanced at Adolf and then turned towards Avery.
However, she hadn't felt that there was something hidden in Albert's words, and she merely furrowed
her eyebrows into a frown as she looked at Adolf and lightly asked, "Adolf, please. I only need three
days. Three days' later, I'll be back. I can promise you that I won't piss you off any more."
Adolf's blue eyes glimmered with a complicated look. He focused his eyes on Avery's pale tender face
and thought for quite a while before he said, "Avery, it's not that I don't want to give you three days. It's
that you are sick now."
"I'm all right," Avery added in haste.
Adolf was obviously displeased, judging from the frown that came on his face.
"Don't worry about it. We'll take good care of Avery these days and bring her back to the hospital for a
check every day. We'll return her to you safe and sound in three days." Zed assured him.
Suddenly, Adolf sneered as he looked up to Zed and asked, "Mr. Qi, why are you being so
warmhearted and trying to help Avery? As far as I know, you are not such a warmhearted person. Are
you really doing that just for your wife?"
"Yes," Zed replied with a bitter smile. Then he added, "It's known in H City that I don't fear anything
except my wife's unhappiness. I want her to be happy no matter what. Now if she wants to get close to
Avery, there is no way I am going to prevent her from doing that. I don't have any reason to stop that
unless Avery is a man, do I?"
Upon hearing Zed's words, Adolf turned less serious. He sighed, looking at Zed, "It seems that both of
us have our own situations to think about. Fine. Take care of her please. And do remember to bring her
back safe and sound after three days."
"Adolf." Hearing that Adolf had agreed, Albert was astonished. He got anxious and tried to stop them.
"How can you agree to such a preposterous idea? Avery has such a tightly fixed schedule. How can
you allow her to leave now for three days?"
