Chapter 1626: Do you want to learn horse riding?

As Selena looked around, she noticed that the other wealthy young ladies were also looking at her.

Despite being Miss Turner, Selena had never attended any of the grand events held by the elite in the

city. She didn't even associate with any of them except for the Riddle family's daughter. This was her

first time sitting with so many young ladies from high society.

As Lab 717's leader and owner of Sacred Pearl, Selena's reputation preceded her. Even those who

were used to being haughty and arrogant were surprisingly quiet when they saw her.

After a moment of silence, Winnie bit her lip and was about to approach Selena when a young woman

stepped forward from among the crowd.

"Welcome, Miss Turner," she smiled as she introduced herself. "I'm Alisha and James is my brother."

Selena nodded politely in response. "Thank you."

With that introduction out of the way, it felt like there was no distance between them anymore.

"Mr. Turner should come inside soon," another woman spoke up with a smile on her face. "Come see

these flowers here compared to what Lauren has at Lan Ting Villa."

Selena walked over to take a look at all of the flowers before turning back to admire all of their beautiful

faces with a slight smile on hers.

Perhaps there was nothing more beautiful than these lovely girls' smiles? She picked up an orchid

flower and placed it into a vase prepared beforehand for it.

Under the sunshine, she stood in the center of a group of beautiful and wealthy young ladies, smiling

slightly, truly standing out among them.

Lillian stood at the door, watching this scene with her cool peach blossom eyes. It was hard to tell what

she was thinking.

A young woman with delicate features standing behind her saw Selena being surrounded by stars like

the moon in the center and jealousy flashed in her eyes. She opened her mouth to speak.

But Lillian spoke first with a hint of realization in her tone. "This is my first time seeing Selena come

down from above and stand together with so many people. Indeed..."

The woman was surprised. "Miss Riddle, what did you say?"

She glanced at Selena and disgust flashed across her face. "She's just a girl from one of the capital's

noble families who can't compare to you."

Lillian looked at Selena and smirked. "I don't want to hear similar words again."

Selena was not only her rival but also someone she had once served loyally as a subject; no matter

what happened, it wasn't up to these ants to humiliate her.

The woman's face suddenly turned pale as she said,"I understand."

Lillian smiled faintly as she picked up a rose beside her and walked elegantly towards Selena on silver

high heels.

As soon as Lillian appeared on stage, the atmosphere froze instantly.

All women were stunned by this sudden appearance of such an extraordinary lady even though they

were already gathered among the capital's top socialites; Lillian's aura was unique and powerful

beyond comparison.

She wore a thin silver long dress that made Her cold white face look flawless while Her cold peach

blossom eyes shimmered slightly with pupils shining bright like diamonds.

Her whole person seemed untainted by dust or dirt while exuding an air of nobility that could

overwhelm others around Her effortlessly.

Everyone was staring at Lillian, except for Selena who was busy arranging flowers.

Lillian walked up to Selena and handed her the bouquet with a smile. "Here you go."

Selena carefully arranged the flowers in a vase and examined them closely. She felt that something

was missing.

As she pondered, she noticed a red rose in front of her.

Selena looked at the other flowers in the vase and then back at the red rose. Calmly, she reached out

to take it and added it to her arrangement.

The colors were beautiful together, making Selena smile with satisfaction.

Lillian admired Selena's work and handed her a clean towel. "Your eye for detail is as sharp as ever."

Selena took the towel from Lillian's hand and wiped off any dirt on her fingers. "And you always add

that final touch of elegance."

Lillian shook her head while looking at the bouquet. "I'm not very good at this; Lady X is truly Empire's

best florist."

"I just thought it needed that extra pop of color," replied Selena simply.

"Imperfection always leaves us feeling incomplete," said Lillian thoughtfully.

"To avoid regrets, we must strive for perfection," added Selena as she passed Leia (who had been

standing there stunned) the towel without any inflection in her voice."So we trim away anything

unnecessary until only what we want remains?"

Lilian fell silent before finally saying: "Selina, I've told you many times before." This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

Selena's eyes glazed over as she suddenly remembered something from their childhood. When she

was young, her health was poor and she spent most of her time confined to the palace. After the

kidnapping incident, everyone in the palace became nervous at even the slightest disturbance, all

afraid that something might happen to their only legitimate heir.

This made Selena feel suffocated at times. Stanley indulged her but never joined in on any of her

antics. Only Lillian would secretly play with her.

Selena still remembered when she first met Lillian. She was seven years old and Selena's aunt had

come to visit the palace with Lillian by her side. Lillian wore a light brown riding outfit with neatly

combed hair tucked under a round equestrian hat and black boots that made her legs look long for

someone so young.

Compared to Selena who sat on the throne looking frail and weak, they were complete opposites.

At that time, Selena's health had deteriorated so much that even a slight breeze could make it difficult

for her to breathe let alone ride horses like Lillian did so effortlessly.

Seeing such a lively and healthy girl caused an obvious change in Selena's expression which didn't go

unnoticed by Lillian who took advantage of their father's distraction by walking up to Selena asking

"Your Highness, do you want to learn how to ride?"

Selena couldn't remember if she said yes or no at that moment but it didn't matter because from then

on they became inseparable friends who played together whenever possible despite all odds against

them.

Finally, Lillian secretly took her to the stable and pointed to a small brown foal, saying, "This is my little

foal. In the future, I will ride it and conquer the world, spreading the Empire's bird flag throughout the

seas and lands!"

That night, Selena developed a high fever because of their secret outing and Lillian was punished.

A few days later, Lillian came back to see Selena at court still dressed in her riding gear. She said to

Selena with her young voice still ringing in her ears: "Your Majesty doesn't need to learn how to ride

horses. You only need to be a decisive ruler who protects our Empire. I will be your sword and make all

of our allies bow down before you!"

The two people speaking had already changed beyond recognition.

Finally turning around, Selena looked at Lillian standing beside her.
