Chapter 794
It was not the first time Alicia was at Soaver International, so she was familiar with the place and went straight up to the top floor. She had forgotten to call him in advance as she was in a hurry.
She rushed into the office, giggling. "Honey, I'm here to pick you up after work!"
When Alicia looked inside, the office was empty, and she was stunned for a while. The door was open, but why was there no one around? Even the secretary was nowhere in sight.
At this time, the secretary, who had heard the noise, came out from the bathroom. "Madam, why are you here?"
After wiping her wet hands with a napkin, the secretary asked, "What's the matter, Madam? Mr. Frederick got off work early. He just left not long ago!" She had come in to deliver some documents when she accidentally knocked over other documents on the desk. She didn't realize that the ink of a pen was leaking and she had smeared her hand.
"I see! It's all right. I was just passing by and thought of having a meal with him!" Alicia said.
Alicia rubbed her head, feeling slightly puzzled. She had planned to go shopping with him, and visit her grandmother after that. However, she had overslept and forgot to inform him in advance. So, she got up and came in a hurry.
She had been so busy recently that she had become mindless!
Everything was a mess!
Fortunately, she didn't tell Grandma that they would visit her that day in advance. Otherwise, she would be at a complete loss on what to do.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Alicia shook her head and said, "It's all right now. You go ahead, I'll take my leave first!"
Just as she was about to turn around, she caught a glimpse of an exquisite white box beside the table. There was a white bowknot on it, which made it look like a gift box. Alicia looked at it, perplexed.
"What's this? Is it for me?" She thought to herself.
Why was it placed on the ground? Did he forget it or did he deliberately hide it in fear that others would see it?
She bent down and picked it up. The secretary was stunned as she shook her head. Had she accidentally knocked that off the table too when she toppled the documents over?
For a moment, she didn't dare to say anything, but her heart was beating nervously in her chest. She hoped it was not something valuable! Alicia dusted, then opened the box. She saw a bunch of jasmine flowers, which was startling to see for both women. The secretary was confused while Alicia was baffled. She carefully took the flowers out.
A bouquet of jasmine flowers? And they were cut straight off of fresh flowers?
She took another look at the box and a thought came to her. "Jasmine? Could this be related to Danica?"
She flipped the box over and saw that there was only a small bouquet of jasmine flowers in it. Seeing that it was placed in such an exquisite box, this was obviously specially prepared!
Was he going to give it to Danica? Or did she send it to him?
Why was there such a box of jasmine flowers? There must be something special about it, but Alicia could only think of these two possibilities. Subconsciously, she believed Frederick more, so she felt that it was more likely to be the latter.
She still couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable about this. Unconsciously, she put the flowers back. When she accidentally touched the box, she suddenly realized that the bottom of the box was uneven. After staring at it for a while, she found that it was a sculpture of words and writings.
It wrote: Oregon North Hills, the Ultimate Promise.
What did that mean?
She picked up the cover of the box, held it under the light, and a row of faint handwriting appeared on it: Forever, seven days, seven o'clock! How creative!
In an instant, this bunch of characters flashed across Alicia's mind. In a simple coherent way, she could roughly guess what this meant.
These words were so obscure that she must know that he would understand what they meant straight away.
But she might have been worried that he had forgotten, so she had them written in such an ambiguous way as a way to jog his memory. Why did he place the box on the ground though?
Did he discard it or did he hide it to keep others from seeing it?
Alicia's mind was a mess and she could feel the dark clouds above her head brewing. She closed the box slowly.
Gregon North Hills? Seven days, seven o'clock?
This might be the time and the venue. It should be related to the Gregon North Hills that overlooked the whole Casterwich City. Could it be the famous North Hill Hotel there or the small hill near the south?
Did he leave early to meet her?
What was the ultimate promise?
All kinds of thoughts flashed through her mind, and her mind, which had been calmed for a long time, suddenly wavered.
"Madam, Madam, are you alright? Would you like me to call Mr. Frederick?" The secretary asked.
Alicia suddenly came to her senses.
She shot the secretary a quick smile. "That's alright! I'll call him myself! By the way, was there anyone special here looking for him today? Did he leave early because he has a meeting?"
"No, Mr. Frederick was not busy today, and he didn't leave the office at all! All he said was that he was feeling a little tired in the evening, so he rejected his dinner tonight with Mr. Lonel. He probably went home to rest!" The secretary said.
"Yes, perhaps! How unfortunate! I'd better call him now!"
Alicia pretended to take out her cell phone and walked out while talking with the secretary. "I sent him a parcel to surprise him. I wonder if he has received it. It is something this big, it's not too big nor too small."
"There was one today, but it was from an unknown sender. But ah, I see, it was Madam who sent it! The guard worried that it might be something hazardous, so he checked it several times before sending it up," the secretary explained.
After confirming the information that she wanted, Alicia smiled and said nothing more. She watched the secretary locking the door and chatted with her for a little while longer before she said her goodbye and left.
After leaving Soaver International, instead of calling Frederick, she called home and asked if he had returned.
"No!" The servant replied.
Hearing this answer, Alicia was obviously disappointed. "It's okay. I was just curious. Since Frederick isn't home, I won't be back for dinner either. No need to prepare dinner for us!"
Alicia ended a call and sighed heavily.
She knew she should trust him, but why did she feel so frustrated and upset?
She picked up her cellphone and clicked on his number several times. However, she just couldn't bring herself to call him. Should she really ask him about this?
She knew that this would be for the
best, but when it came to Danica, Alicia's confidence wavered! She wanted to ask, but she was afraid to. After hesitating for a long time she started the car and decided to drive in that direction.
Seven days, seven o'clock!
Did this mean seven days later or within seven days? But she was almost certain that it meant seven o'clock in the evening.
If it was in the morning, he might not have wasted his time to meet her. Even on the weekend, seven o'clock was too early!
She believed that Frederick would
not go to see her, so this should just be an interlude, and there was no
need to ask him about this. However since he left so early that she missed him, everything seemed suspicious to her and she could not shake this feeling of unease no matter how hard she tried. Eventually, she gave in to her urges
and went to find out what was going on...
