Chapter 55: Fleur, Be Good
Chapter 55: Fleur, Be Good
"My face."
"So..." There was no emotion in Olivier's voice. "What shameful thing did you do that made she hit
you?"
Virginie was so close to screaming at him, asking if he had truly fallen in love with Fleur and whether
they were living together.
She had almost asked out, but stopped at the second thought. After all, she was raised as a pampered
heiress. She screwed up all her courage coming here at the risk of being humiliated by Fleur, but he...
Olivier humiliated her instead.
In an instant, tears gathered in her eyes, reflecting the night.
"Olivier." Virginie sounded like she was crying, but she wasn't. Her vision was blurred with tears but she
knew she couldn't cry. Fleur was still watching them in the car.
So she could never cry.
"So I deserve to be hit." Virginie tried hard to hold back her tears. "Fine, Take care of her! I'll stay away
from now on!"
Turning around, Virginie went into her car with a slam of the door. Olivier heard the engine roar from
where he stood as the car flew past him, only centimetres away from his feet.
Fleur could not hear anything what was going on due to the car's soundproof system. But given
Virginie's big reaction, she could guess what had happened.
Fleur smiled mockingly.
Virginie really was something, getting upset that easily with Olivier. This was the second time she had
lost her temper with him. Even Fleur did not dare to take that risk.
......
The weather was getting colder. The roadside scenery grew gloomy and blue. The silence in the car
made outside seem lonelier than ever.
Half an hour later, the Maybach stopped in the Night Villa's garage. It was very dark. Fleur had no idea
where the light switch was. She noticed Olivier had yet to exit the car some time.
She slowly retreated her steps while feeling for the car. Just when her hand touched the driver's side of
the door, it opened quickly, hitting her head.
Stars flashed in her vision. Olivier hurriedly grabbed her and steadied her against the door. "Are you
dumb?"
"...Insult me again." Fleur grumbled, reaching out to hold onto his shirt, but her hand was instantly flung
off. Olivier immediately turned to leave but Fleur caught up with him swiftly.
"Do you have no garage lights?"
"Stand properly!" Olivier bellowed.
Fleur stood up straight and said, "I'm not letting you make a fool of me by stumbling my way into the
house in the dark. You're leading me back in."
Olivier lowered his gaze.
Only his pupils shone cold and deep. There was an undecipherable, complicated emotion in there that
even Fleur did not understand. It was only much later that Olivier told her it was resignation.
He did not know what to do with her. She was bold, very good at pestering, triggering others, and
always spouting all that lovey-dovey nonsense. Whether or not he was in the mood for it, she insisted
to be heard.
Women were naturally weaker than men. No righteous man would impose on a woman.
......
She held onto his arm all the way to the living room. With the lights still off, Olivier shrugged her away
and went upstairs to the study.
Dark nights like these were easy for restrained emotions to be vented out. He lit a cigarette, tasting
smoke in his mouth. His face grew colder by the second in this dark space.
An hour later he exited the study and went to his room.
Fleur was packing her clothes while wearing her seductive sleepwear. She tucked all her clothes into
Olivier's wardrobe while her fat cat sat on the quilt, watching her walk to and fro.
The muscles in Olivier's neck throbbed violently. He walked over and grabbed Fleur's shoulder. "Are
you planning to turn my bedroom into yours?"
"I'm not. Everything in here is yours, including me."
"...Fleur Leroy."
Olivier's jaw clenched as he closed his eyes. When he opened them they seemed red with anger. He
gripped her hand and clenched tight.
...
Her hand was still bandaged. The grip hurt.
Fleur's breathing turned erratic.
"Does that hurt?"
"Mm."
Even her forehead was still red from earlier.
"I'm going to take a shower. When I get out, make sure the cat has left and so have Virginie from my
wardrobe. Otherwise this pain won't be the only one you suffer from."
"No."
"What did you say?" Olivier's sounded a little surprised.
"I slept well while you held me last night, but then I almost froze to death in the middle of the night
when you just left my by the side of the bed. I know you did it on purpose. If you don't want me to get
close to you, I might as well hold Lulu to sleep. At least it's warm. If you want it to leave the room, you
have to hold me to sleep."
Her eyes rippled. "How can I willingly give you the club if you're so unwilling to let me try? We agreed
for me to try and seduce you but you won't even let me touch you, I..."
"Shut up." Olivier's face was twisted up. "It's only been five days, how are you getting more and more
relentless? Is it because I tolerate you?"
"It's because you're a good man."
Olivier raised his eyebrows as he gazed at Fleur. Her forehead was still red because of the car door.
Her unbandaged hand turning a warm red after the shower had a stark contrast with her pale, delicate
skin.
There was not an ounce of pretentiousness on her, just beautiful and graceful.
"I know you can't bear to be fierce to me, that you've been tolerating my small tempers." Fleur smiled.
Her cheeks were blushing red as if she just came out of the shower.
With such a smile it was as if a flower had suddenly bloomed in Olivier's heart, brushing bold colourful
strokes.
"It's only because of you that I can be so bold, so I'll tolerate your...bad temper."
"..."
Olivier stared at her unblinkingly for a long time. Under the room lights, his eyes were warm and mellow
as amber. "You'll tolerate me?"
"Mhm." Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
"What kind of bad temper do I have?"
"Mercurial. Cold. Always wanting to push me away."
"What were you going to do if you couldn't tolerate me?" Perhaps it was because of this sense of
newness in his life, or he should say, these past five days had been brought exciting newness for him
every single day, that Olivier realised the anger brought on by his quick temper was gone.
He gazed at Fleur, a woman whom even he could not figure out.
"Nothing. I can only keep my anger to myself. I won't die from it anyways." Her eyes were full of
complaint.
Olivier's lips moved slightly as if wanting to say something, but in the end he gently stroked the back of
her head. "Get the cat and Virginie out of her, otherwise I'll get mad at you."
...it seemed as if he was coaxing a child.
"Be good."
Just those two words had such gentleness and doting. It softened up the atmosphere instantly.
