Chapter 27 Classmate Reunion
Chapter 27 Classmate Reunion
Having said this, he took Jane's hand and went out, ignoring Susie's angry face. Susie still wanted to
say something, but when she looked Jeffery in the eye, she could not help but tremble and did not dare
stop him anymore.
Under the gaze of all, Jane was pulled away by Jeffery. She was taken to the hospital to see the doctor
and have an x-ray check. Jeffery only felt relieved when he found there were no major problems.
The hospital prescribed Jane some medicine for external application. She was going to dip it herself,
but after Jeffery got in the car, he just asked her to sit still. Then he took out a cotton swab and started
dipping the medicine.
He didn't let her do it. So Jane could only look around, but she didn't dare to look at Jeffery.
"Did I tell you that if someone makes things difficult for you again in the future, remember to fight back."
Jeffery applied the medicine to Jane and pinched her chin, whose eyes full of concern.
"My eyes were injured by the documents suddenly smashed over, and there was no time for me to
react."
She muttered in a low voice and subconsciously wanted to reach out to touch her injured eye, but her
hands were stopped by Jeffery. "Don't touch it."
"Do not touch it with your hands, or it may cause wound infection. If it hurts that much, I will blow it for
you." He placated her and actually came over.
"Don't..." She came to herself and refused immediately, "No, thanks. It doesn't hurt that much after
applying the medicine. ."
"Mrs. Jones, we have been sleeping in the same bed for so long. You will not be shy for such stuff, will
you?" Jeffery held his head with one hand and looked at her with a smile. His black eyes were full of
mockery.
Jane looked up speechlessly.
By the way, she never admitted that she was his fiancee, so of course she would feel uncomfortable
when he showed his intimacy with her.
Unconsciously she drew back a little, and felt that her eyes were not so uncomfortable as before. To
relieve the embarrassment, she smiled and changed the subject. "Susie said you went to a meeting.
Why did you suddenly come back?"
"When I thought of my cousin coming to see you on the way back, I was worried about seeing her
again." Jeffery started the car and stared straight ahead, holding Jane's hand with one hand.
Hearing that, Jane felt warm in her heart.
She had to admit that this man cared for her in every possible way.
She could not help but turn to look at Jeffery. Did he come back for her? Wouldn't that delay his work?
Thinking of this, she felt a little guilty. She turned to look at him, and her expression flickered. "What
about the clients? Aren't you attending a meeting?"
"I said I forgot some documents and was going for it now. You'll go with me."Jeffery smiled and turned
to look at her. His eyes were full of love.
Jane suddenly didn’t know what to say. In addition to gratitude, she still felt a little bit unexplainable in
her heart.
Jeffery saw that she was about to say something, but paused. He drew her hand to his lips and kissed
it before driving off.
The temperature from the back of her hand made Jane's heart skip a beat. She stared at her hand in
the man's hand, and lost in thought all the way.
They came to the cooperative company. Jane followed Jeffery and entered the company. Jane was
arranged to be sitting next to Jeffery, but the partner's eyes have been focusing on Jane.
"Who is this lady? I've never seen her before." The boss was a middle-aged man. He stared at Jane for
a long time, and the smile on his face seemed a bit strange.
Jeffery glanced at Jane and said lightly. "This is my new secretary, Jane Carter."
"It turns out to be Miss. Carter. You’re really young and capable. You can be appreciated by Mr. Jones,
and I think there must be something extraordinary about you." The boss stared at Jane from top to
bottom, and Jane felt uncomfortable when looking at his small eyes.
Jane felt goosebumps all over his body and could not help but shrink behind Jeffery.
It was not that she had not been looked at by such eyes. She also knew that some bosses would take
pretty secretaries with them when they talked business. If necessary, the secretaries had to sleep with
other bosses.
Perhaps he had noticed that something was wrong with her, Jeffery looked at the person opposite him
and said slowly, "Mr. Cotton, Jane is also my fiancee."
"What, a fiancé?" Mr. Cotton was evidently taken aback. Then there was no longer that uneasy look in
Jane's eyes, but something curious.
Then Jane was finally relieved. During the whole conversation of cooperation, Mr. Cotton didn’t do
anything excessive to her, and he almost rarely looked at her.
After the discussion, Mr. Cotton said he was going to ask them for dinner. Jeffery looked at Jane,
asking for her opinion. Jane said nothing, but she did not want to go there for dinner, so they went back
to the company together.
On the way, Jane's phone rang, and the caller ID revealed that it was a classmate who had not called
in a while. Jane thought for a while and picked up the phone. A sharp voice came from the other side of
the phone. "Jane, are you available for the class reunion tomorrow? Do not forget to come."
" I had to work tomorrow." Jane did not want to go. She looked at Jeffery beside her and wanted to
decline with the excuse of work. After all, she really rarely had contact with her old classmates after
graduation.
The person on the phone paused. She seemed very unhappy with Jane's answer and even spat out in
disgust. "It's just a job. If it's lost, there's no pity. I'll ask my husband to arrange a new one for you later.
It's the first class party after graduation. Anyway, you must come. That's all. I'll text you the address. Do
not be late tomorrow night at 6:00."
Her classmate hung up, leaving no chance for her to refuse.
Jane stared at the phone screen without saying a word.
University gathering... Larry and I were classmates when they were in the university. If she really went
to it, wouldn't she see Larry and Susie again??
Speaking of which, she had been in a relationship with Larry for more than two years at school. Back
then, there was always one girl who had been jealous of her and said behind her back that she was not
good enough for Larry. And that behind her back she got all the nasty comments and cursed that
sooner or later they would break up.
Now, as expected, what they said was true, Larry had abandoned her and married Susie, and they Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
were now in such a state. If she attened, there would probably be quite a few people waiting to see her
make a fool of herself.
Jane was really not interested in that banquet, but her classmate didn’t give her the chance to refuse.
If she didn’t go, her classmate will slander her behind her back.
Jeffery found there was something wrong with Jane. He reached out and took Jane's hand, with some
worry in his black eyes. "What's wrong? Who's calling?"
"A college classmate. It means that there will be a class reunion tomorrow night and I must go." Jane
answered truthfully.
