Chapter 695 With You By My Side, I Don’t Want To Die
All of a sudden, Bellamy looked at the door. He frowned in suspicion.
Stella noticed that something was amiss and she asked, “What’s wrong? What happened?”
“There are two groups of people fighting outside. It’s a fierce and chaotic battle,” Bellamy guessed from the sound.
“Are they your men?” Stella asked.
Bellamy shook his head and said, “There are only four of us here. I’m afraid that we don’t have such a powerful force. I don’t know who they belong to.”
Stella held Bellamy’s hand and smiled gently. “In any case, we will live and die together. As long as we are together, there is nothing to be afraid of.”
Bellamy held her hand tightly. Returning her smile, he said, “With you by my side, I don’t want to die.”
Stella felt a little regretful. After all, their lives were not in their hands.
Time slowly trickled past; one second at a time.
The two of them did not speak. They just waited in silence.
The loud noise outside quietened down about twenty minutes later, like the calm after the storm.
Stella glanced at Bellamy. “Is it over?”
Bellamy hesitated for a while, then he nodded. However, he did not know whether the ones who came were friend or foe.
Someone soon knocked on the door.
They took a step back instinctively.
“Is anyone in there? It’s me, Larry James.”
“Larry?” Stella did not know that person at all.
However, Bellamy knew him, and he opened the door.
A thin and tall man stood outside the door. His eyes were small, and he had great facial features. He looked a little feminine.
“Bellamy?” He was very surprised to see him.
Bellamy was even more surprised. “Why are you here?”
“I have been in B Country all this while. My men reported to me that Sean’s men have arrived. I followed them here and found that they were all holding guns and engaged in a gunfight. I thought that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, but I did not expect it to be you. Why did you provoke Sean?” Larry asked curiously.
“Did you just say that those people are Sean’s men?” Bellamy was even more shocked.
He nodded. “I recognized one of the men. He was the reason I knew that they are Sean’s man. Why does he want to kill you?”
Bellamy was furious. “I want to know why he wants me dead too. Are my men alright?”
“When I arrived, all of your people have been killed,” Larry said apologetically.
Stella looked at Larry sharply. “Are you sure that the man you saw is one of Sean’s men?”
“I am certain. I fought him before and I sent someone to keep an eye out on him. That’s why I knew immediately as soon as he entered B Country,” Larry said without hesitation.
“What is his name?” Stella immediately asked.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
“Darren Wheeler.”
Stella remained silent as she knew who he was. He was Sean’s trusted sergeant when Eli went to the Invisibles.
In order to protect Eli’s safety, Stella had investigated every sergeant in the Invisibles.
Bellamy knew who Darren was too. He had always been by Sean’s side.
Clenching his fists, he walked out quickly into the villa.
Marks of gunshots were littered everywhere inside the villa. His men had died on the stairs, on the ground, in the kitchen, and even on the sofa.
Bellamy’s eyes grew red, and a faint layer of mist shrouded them. At that moment, he radiated a murderous aura.
Stella felt uneasy looking at the bodies of the dead soldiers. She stood beside Bellamy silently.
“Do you still think that Sean will let us go? He is crueler than his father. His father does not know how to pretend, but he does,” Bellamy said sadly, his chest heaving up and down heavily.
Stella knew that he was very upset.
She was upset too as they have died because of her.
However, she was more rational than him. She held his hand and said, “Let’s not be impulsive. Let us wait until all the investigations are complete. We may not be seeing the whole picture.”
Bellamy shook Stella’s hand off and asked unhappily, “What else do we need to do to know what is real? He took control of Quinn as soon as he left for F Country. Although the bomb on the plane was planted by Quinn, I don’t believe that Sean knew nothing about it.”
“That is because he doesn’t know that you’re Jasper,” Stella explained.
“Alright, I’ll give him the benefit of doubt for that. What about this time? Darren is his most trusted subordinate. He is such a smart man, would he allow an enemy to be his side?” Bellamy was terribly upset.
“Think about it, Sean is an intelligent man. If he were to sent people over to kill you, he would have hired mercenaries from X Country. He would hire someone we’ve never seen before.”
“You are speaking up for him,” Bellamy grew increasingly agitated.
“I just don’t want you to become a chess piece that others control. We should control our temper. Even if this is Sean’s doings, you mustn’t show that you are aware of it. Otherwise, we will still be the ones who will die,” Stella reminded.
Bellamy’s heart skipped a beat. He felt as though he had been hit.
He lowered his eyes.
Stella was right. Even if Sean was behind it, he could not possibly reveal it for the time being.
The more anxious he was, the quicker he would perish.
He had to be more rational.
Stella watched as he calmed down gradually, then she heaved a sigh of relief, “Let’s investigate this together, starting from Darren. I believe that we would find out the truth soon. Whether this is Samuel’s doings or Sean’s, we mustn’t rush, for it would only bring us more harm than good.”
Bellamy stretched his arms out and hugged Stella.
They embraced each other for a long time.
He did not say a word.
Because they were pressed against each other, she could feel the rapid beating of his heart. His chest was heaving up and down heavily too.
She knew that he was upset and angry. She understood that he was forcing himself to suppress his emotions.
When Lynette was disfigured because of her, Stella wanted nothing more than for Quinn’s reputation to be ruined. The current situation was worse. Jasper’s soldiers had all died right in front of him.
She closed her eyes and suddenly burst into tears.
Bellamy felt the dampness on his neck and looked at Stella with his reddened eyes. He sighed helplessly as he looked into her watery eyes.
“You must be worried about me. I’m sorry,” said Bellamy. He had finally calmed down.
“I would be lying if I said that I was not worried. I really want to do something for you. Should we bury your men first or send them back to their families?” Stella asked.
“They are all orphans,” Bellamy choked on his words.
Stella’s eyes were wet once again and tears rolled down her face.
Life was truly so fragile. It could end just like that.
As a person grew older, the more sorrow, sufferings, and deaths they would have to experience. The more one thought about it, the sadder they would be. They could only be happy if they did not think about it.
“Jasper, we must live well in the future. We mustn’t let ourselves get hurt and we must cherish our lives every day,” Stella cried and said.
“Even if I die, you will have to live for me. You have to live a wonderful life on my behalf,” Bellamy said sincerely.
She kept quiet, not willing to comment on this topic.
After all, she was a stubborn person too.
For her to live well, he had to be alive and well too. Otherwise, she would rather die than to live in pain.
