Chapter 89
Chapter 89
89 Unraveling the Past
In the stillness of his office, Alex leaned back in his chair, his mind swirling with Nathan’s words and his
own turbulent thoughts. The room felt unusually quiet, a stark contrast to the chaos within him.
“Why can’t it be connected to Emma?” Alex murmured, staring out the window. He grappled with the
possibility, however remote, that Emma could have played a pivotal role in his past, unbeknownst to
him.
Nathan, pacing back and forth, struggled to process Alex’s suggestion. “You’re not making sense, Alex.
Think about it logically. You met Emma much later. This… this idea of her saving you is just….. it’s just
implausible!”
Alex turned, his gaze intense. “But what if? What if there are parts of my past, parts of her, that I never Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
really understood?”
Nathan shook his head, frustration evident in his voice. “It’s like you’re grasping at straws, trying to
paint her as some sort of heroine. She’s not, Alex. She never was.
Alex sighed, a mixture of frustration and confusion clouding his expression. “You’re so certain, Nathan.
But why? Why are you so sure it wasn’t her?”
Nathan hesitated, searching for words. “Because I know Emma. She’s not the type to hide such a
thing. She would have used it to her advantage, especially during your marriage.”
Alex pondered Nathan’s words, his mind racing. “But isn’t it possible that she changed? That the Emma
I knew back then isn’t the Emma she is now?”
Nathan stopped pacing and faced Alex. “Even if she changed, it doesn’t rewrite the past. She didn’t
save you, Alex. It’s a fact.”
Alex’s gaze drifted back to the window. “But facts can be misleading, Nathan. Sometimes, we only see
what we want to see.”
Nathan, feeling a sense of defeat, sighed heavily. “You’re not going to let this go, are you?”
Alex shook his head slowly. “No, I can’t. Not until I find the truth.”
Nathan, realizing the futility of his arguments, nodded reluctantly. “Fine, Alex. Do what you must. But
don’t get your hopes up. The past is a tricky thing.”
As Nathan left, Alex remained in his office, lost in thought. The conversation had opened a door to
possibilities he hadn’t considered before. The idea that Emma might have been more than what he
believed her to be was both unsettling and intriguing.
He stood up, pacing the room, each step echoing in the silence. Alex knew that delving into the past
would be a journey fraught with uncertainty and revelation. But it was a journey he needed to take, to
understand not just Emma, but himself as well.
As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow into the room, Alex made a decision. He would start

unraveling the mysteries of the past, piece by piece. And the first step would be to confront the
memories he had long buried, to face the truths he had been too blind to see.
