Chapter 1341 Visiting Your Lover
Dexter spent ten minutes familiarizing himself with the document's content. Seeing the chairman himself arrive, everyone from the venture capital side was on tenterhooks. Russell Group was somewhat far from Bijou International, but in terms of proximity to the hospital, it was quite close.
Dexter thought half an hour should be enough time for him to meet with the owner of Eccentric Corporation before he could leave to have dinner with Josie. He was confident about his time management.
"Rumors say that the boss of Eccentric Corporation has some health issues, so he might be late as traveling is inconvenient for him," Preston softly stated from the back seat of the car. "Indeed, it was quite abrupt to notify them at the last minute."
Dexter remained noncommittal, engrossed in his documents. Suddenly, he glanced up at Preston and asked, "Are you nervous?"
The latter was still wearing his suit from the meeting, which was appropriate for very formal occasions.
Preston lowered his eyes. "After sending you off, I have other official matters to attend to."
Dexter refrained from saying anything more.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
The chosen location was a Western restaurant on the third floor of Bijou International, and their table was by the window. The setting was both romantic and atmospheric.
Dexter paused slightly, his tone deceptively mild as he said, "To my knowledge, the owner of Eccentric Corporation is a man. You're asking me to have a Western dinner with a man." Preston lowered his head again. "It was my oversight, but it's Friday today, and many places have been fully booked. Plus, you specifically requested for a restaurant in this area..."
Dexter glanced at his wristwatch again; it was already ten past seven. Undoubtedly, there wouldn't be enough time to find a new place.
Seeing Dexter's compliance, Preston quietly breathed a sigh of relief. "I'll be off then. The two bodyguards will be nearby. Make sure to call me if anything happens."
Dexter gave a light hum of acknowledgment.
Over the past couple of years, he had rarely made public appearances. This was the first time he had voluntarily stepped into the limelight. A significant reason for this was to advance Russell Group's venture into the medical field. Additionally, he wanted to assist Preston in establishing his credibility. He saw the latter as a promising talent worthy of nurturing.
Hence, Dexter didn't delve too much into why the boss of Eccentric Corporation was late.
However, he waited until half past seven, yet there was still no sign of the other party.
He called Preston, who anxiously said, "They said they'll be there soon, within twenty minutes at most."
Dexter frowned and tried to suppress his impatience. He could only continue to wait.
When Josie received his message,
she happened to be trying on
clothes in a store. The woman in the mirror was dressed in a long dress, her usually plain face exceptionally made up, making her look stunningly beautiful. She was quite tall, and whenever she wore a long dress, she always exuded a graceful and elegant air.
The tailor noticed her smiling at her phone and teasingly remarked, "You must be meeting your lover. You seem so eager and nervous."
Josie snapped back to reality. "My lover?"
"Yes. You were in such a rush to pick out your clothes, and now you're putting so much effort into your appearance. You must be going to see your lover, aren't you?"
Josie had been pressed for time, and the ready-to-wear clothes from this store were hard to get ahold of Thus, it was only after she reached out to Mallory that she received something that fit her
measurements.
Seeing her embarrassment, the tailor reassured her, "Don't worry. This dress suits you well, and you look beautiful. Your lover won't be disappointed."
"Who cares about his opinion?" Josie muttered.
"Really? But you were smiling so widely just now."
In an instant, Josie's face turned completely red.
Earlier, Dexter had messaged her, mentioning that something unexpected had come up on his end, so he might need her to wait a little longer.
Without giving it much thought, Josie bid farewell to the tailor and left the shop, heading straight for Bijou International.
In truth, she had wanted to pick a
spot near Russell Group, where the restaurants boasted better
ambiance and food. However, she was worried that something might suddenly happen to Mark. Being near the hospital was more convenient, so that was that.
