Chapter 54 Settlement
Chapter 54 Settlement
The three of us held our breath and walked forward, bending over. Suddenly I heard a rustling sound
not far away. Gavin immediately protected me behind him.
As the sound gradually approached, we also heard violent breathing. Just before everyone knew what
was going on, a behemoth rushed over, followed by a violent dog barking.
When we made the noise, the light in the room went on, and voices came out. Then I saw Gavin, which
was in front of me just now, thrown to the ground by a fierce dog, which was still tearing at him.
I screamed in fear. The people inside the house quickly found us with flashlights. Fortunately, the dog
was even dumber than I was. As soon as it saw his owner come out, it immediately left from Gavin.
I rushed to Gavin and asked him if he was okay. He said, "It's okay. I just bit my clothes. Fortunately, I
wore long sleeves today." Although he said it was okay, he was obviously frightened.
The person on the other side saw us say viciously: "Who were you? What were you doing here?"
Edward didn't dare to provoke them, he said, "Sorry We went to the wrong place, and we are leaving
right now."
Although those people were rather stupid, they were not as stupid as we thought. The leader of the
brawny men shouted, "Stop!"
Our bodies froze in place, and we didn't dare to move for a while, so we didn't have to anger the gang
again. Even if they didn't have weapons, the dog alone was enough to make us scared.
At this critical moment, a sirens suddenly sounded outside. Hearing this voice, my heart immediately let
go, and the kidnappers panicked with obvious guilty conscience.
Several kidnappers who looked like villagers rushed over the wall to escape, but the policemen came in
and caught them under control. I thought if I had known that these people were so cowardly, we
wouldn't have been afraid just before. It was really shameful.
Then Goran came with Matt, he didn't have time to comfort us and rushed straight into the house to
see if anything had happened to his family. Fortunately, this group of gangsters just wanted to frighten
us. Except for limiting the freedom of his wife and kids, the rest was not hurt.
Goran asked, "What happened to Mr. Stone?"
Gavin waved his hand with a dark face, "I'm fine. Let's see what those people say first."
We all went to the police station. In the car, I wanted to check if Gavin was hurt, but he seemed not to
have come out of the shock. Thinking of the shock he had just now because of me, I felt terrible in my
heart.
I silently stroked his back. He leaned on my shoulder for a while, then sat up and restored to the usual
lively Gavin.
After arriving at the police station, Matt and his family were taken to take a statement. The strange man
with Edward took us to see the criminals who were arrested.
According to the criminals, they were all locals and were instructed by a man with a foreign accent to
kidnap Matt's family so that they got paied one million dollars.
Hearing this, Gavin sneered. "You dare to do anything for money. Aren't you afraid of being discovered
and causing trouble?"
The criminal head said in a panic, "We haven't done anything to them. That person only said that we
could frighten them. I won't commit any crime."
"Who are those people? Where is the money they promised to you? Shall they transfer it to you or pay
you in cash?"
"No, no! God, we just started. The other side said that they will not give us money until three or five
days later!"
Now that things had come to this point, the clue on the surface was cut off. No one knew who the
mastermind of this kidnapping case was. It would be difficult to investigate further.
After that, Edward and the four of us boarded the same flight back to Denver. In order to hide the news,
I took a seat next to Edward. Although I was very reluctant, the seats were decided and no one
changed with me, so I had to give up.
Gavin and Goran seemed to be discussing something. Then Gavin looked back at me ,quite a
meaningful feeling.
When I was about to nap, the stewardess came to me and said, "Miss, this is the pillow you just
wanted."
"I don't need a pillow." I said in confusion.
The flight attendant was still good-tempered, "The gentleman next to you asked for it for you."
I was stunned, and my brain was a little short. However, Edward, who was beside me, had already
fallen asleep. As if to avoid the embarrassment at the moment.
I didn't make any further inquiries. I took the pillow and leaned to the other side and fell asleep.
It was already evening when we returned to Denver. We said goodbye at the airport. After Goran and
Candice took a taxi and left, Gavin's car came to pick us up. Edward had his own arrangements and
did not have to report it to us.
Gavin was somewhat abnormal and said nothing all the way. There was no need to hide anything in the
driver, but he seemed to be very tired. He leaned his head against the window and did not say a word.
I couldn't help asking him, "What's wrong with you? Are you still uncomfortable?"
Gavin didn't look at me and just said, "No, it's all right now. It didn't bite me. I won't be so timid." Then I
stopped talking, I guessed that he was thinking about work again.
It was not until we got home that Gavin let out a heavy sigh of relief and lay it on me. I helped him up
and we took the elevator upstairs together.
The problem this time had been solved successfully. No casualties were lost, and the property lost was
also under control. Gavin was happy about it and said:" Let's go out and relax for some day."
"What are we going to do? With whom?"
"Just the two of us. Let's go somewhere far away and relax. We need some rest."
I saw that he was so interested that I couldn't refuse. So I nodded and agreed, and we went together
happily.
This time, Gavin took me to a place far away from Denver. It should not be Andrew's industry, but just
an incomplete ancient town. There were tourists, but not many. The place where they lived was also a
very distinctive inn. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
After putting down the luggage, Gavin suddenly felt a little tired. I asked him what happened. He put his
arms around my shoulder and said, "It's okay. I just feel a little tired. We've been working for such a
long time. Let's take a break."
I rolled my eyes at him and said, "What are you tired of? I'm making plans all the way, but I was the one
on the way. I should be more tired."
Gavin said obsequiously, "I feel sorry for you are tired, so I let you rest!"
