Chapter 65 Perfume
After a few more words, Blanche ended the call with Erin. As she hung up, she felt a strange sensation and looked toward the door. The proud man was there in the doorway.
Blanche's limpid eyes swiveled as she wondered when he had returned.
Thinking back to the photo she had sent him, the call she had made, and the overly dramatic way she had described her miserable experience, she felt a sudden chill.
It was so embarrassing that she wanted to hide.
"You're back," she said.
"Yeah," Louis responded in a low voice.
He had been standing at the door for a while. His eyes were gloomy, and his hands clenched on his sides.
Blanche smiled awkwardly. Her cheek, neck, and knees had been bandaged, and she was dressed in a white nightgown, which made her look like a polar bear.
He had never owed a woman anything in his life, but today was an exception.
Even at the time, he had no intention of letting Blanche put on his clothes to save him. He had been against it.
But from the moment Blanche entered their house, she did as she pleased. Who could control her?
Strangely, the infamous woman didn't ask him for credit.
And now he even saw in her innocence and purity, a stark contrast to her usual fierce demeanor.
Seeing the gloom in Louis' eyes growing, Blanche didn't know what he was thinking. She just looked away.
Seeing the card on the table, she felt a pang in her heart. The money she had wasted at the restaurant... It was infuriating.
The corner of her mouth twitched. If only she were a lawyer, she could have gotten the money back through legal means.
Or if she were a police officer, she could shut down the restaurant for its unreasonable charges.
Noticing Blanche mumbling to herself, Louis couldn't hear clearly and felt restless. He turned and went downstairs to his study.
After finishing his work, Louis lay back in his chair, feeling stifled. He wasn't used to owing people, and this time he owed a lot.
Thinking of how Daniel appeased his girlfriends with appropriate gifts, he narrowed his eyes, picked up his phone, and called a high-end perfume store.
"I'd like to order a perfume."
Late at night, Louis went upstairs. As usual, Blanche was already asleep, wrapped in her blanket.
The light was still on, and he was about to turn it off when he found the woman wasn't sleeping peacefully.
She was humming something in her sleep. Louis walked over curiously and saw moisture around her eyes.
"Grandma, don't go," she murmured. "You can't take my grandma away. I'll save her."
Blanche was having a nightmare, dreaming that her grandmother was seriously ill and dying.
Her hand waved in the air, her frail body struggling against the demon who was trying to take her grandmother away.

Louis' eyes darkened. The sight of Blanche in this state stirred a strong protective instinct in him.
...
The next morning, Blanche found a bottle of bright red perfume on her desk, from an international brand.
Louis, with his straightforward masculinity, deemed the perfume to be pleasantly scented.
Blanche was stunned. She picked up the delicate bottle and studied it. How did a bottle of perfume suddenly appear on her desk? The liquid was bright and looked romantic.
She had never bought this perfume before. Out of curiosity, she sprayed a little on her wrist and sniffed it. It was a gentle and light scent.
"It smells so good," she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling. Why hadn't she bought this perfume before?
Just as Blanche was enjoying the scent, Louis suddenly came upstairs to collect his clothes.
Hearing his footsteps, Blanche tensed up and quickly put the perfume bottle back on the desk.
She was at a loss as to whose perfume it was. If it turned out to be Louis's, she felt like a greedy woman caught chasing the scent, red-handed. The embarrassment was simply overwhelming.
Louis was startled by Blanche's frantic movements. At first, he didn't pay attention to what she was doing. It was only when she hurriedly put down the perfume bottle that he realized she had used the perfume he had given her.
It felt good to have a gift for a girl opened and used for the first time.
Blanche felt an intense wave of guilt wash over her as she noticed Louis gazing at her with an inscrutable expression.
She pinched her throat and said, "Ahem, haven't you gone to work yet?"
Blanche looked at the perfume, now back in its place, but the air was still filled with its elegant scent. She slapped her forehead in frustration, feeling as though she was trying to hide a theft that had already been committed.
But what was done was done. The perfume was probably Louis', and she didn't think it was bought for her, so she decided to admit that she had used his perfume.
But Louis spoke first.
"I'll head off after packing some clothes."
He walked straight to the wardrobe, took out two sets of clothes, and quickly left the bedroom.
Only then did Blanche raise her eyebrows slowly. What was he packing clothes for? Was he going on a business trip?
