Capture Her Heart After Marriage

Chapter 24 Nathaniel’s Plan

Chapter 24 Nathaniel’s Plan

Alexia twisted her head toward the man next to the stage, her heart racing in both nervousness and apprehensiveness.

Chaim quickly glanced at Alexia before turning his gaze to Assistant Chiao.

A chill ran up Assistant Chiao’s back as Chaim stared at him, but Assistant Chiao still asked stiffly, “Mr. Lancaster, Secretary White drew your name…”

“Did Nathaniel tell you do this?” Chaim questioned in an icily cold voice. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

He was quite clear with his instructions not to add his name to the box. So, it was apparent someone meddled.

Apart from Chaim, Nathaniel was the only one with the authority to give Wood orders.

Assistant Chiao lowered his head and could only admit, “It was indeed Dr. Hardy. He planned this.”

“He really has nothing better to do!”.

Assistant Chiao touched his nose as he surreptitiously glanced at Alexia’s direction, “Then, Mr. Lancaster, would you dance with Ms. White? She’s still waiting.”

“Why didn’t you think twice before you did this?” Chaim asked as his face darkened.

“I’m sorry Mr. Lancaster, I know it was wrong. There’s nothing I can do now.”

“You’ll have a month’s bonus deducted. I hope there isn’t a next time, or you’ll be looking for another job!”

“Yes, I understand…” Assistant Chiao accepted the punishment with a serious expression, angrily cursing Nathaniel in his mind.

“Alright, now continue with your hosting duties,” Chaim snapped, his face cold as he stepped on stage.

He walked toward Alexia at a steady pace.

She held her breath and called him. “Mr. Lancaster—”

“Let’s go,” he said, cutting her off.

“Where?” Alexia looked at the hand that he reached out.

“Do you not want to dance?”

“I do.” Alexia’s eyes lit up as she hurriedly placed her hand in his awaiting palm.

Her hand was icy and damp.

“You’re sweating?” Chaim frowned.

Alexia nodded awkwardly. “If it bothers you, I can go to wash my hands.”

Her palms sweated every time she was nervous.

“No need.” Chaim took her hand and led her toward the middle of the room. The crowd parted like the sea to make way for them as they reached the center.

Chaim embraced Alexia stiffly as the music started.

They danced as the crowd closed in around them.

Alexia was extremely nervous as everyone watched. She stepped on Chaim’s feet several times.

Chaim coldly asked her in a low voice, “Didn’t your etiquette teacher teach you to dance?”

“Taught…” Her face flushed again. “Like this?”

Alexia’s voice was so low that Chaim almost couldn’t hear, “The teacher had little time with me.”

“Never mind.” Chaim took her on a spin. “Have you practiced yourself?”

“I…” Alexia was speechless.

“It seems that the answer is NO. Fortunately, the public doesn’t know that you’re the young lady of the Lancaster family.”

Any happiness Alexia felt dancing with Chaim evaporated. So that was what he thought of her. Perhaps Lynn was right. Alexia’s nose twitched as she danced stiffly. It didn’t help that Chaim gave up on pulling her back on rhythm after several attempts either.

As soon as the dance was over, he immediately released her. “All right, I’ll have the driver take you back.”

“Thank you,” Alexia said, forcing out a smile.

Chaim turned around toward the lounge without looking at her.

In the lounge, Nathaniel was playing a game on his phone. “Finished dancing so soon?”

Chaim headed straight for the bathroom with a sullen face, not replying.

Nathaniel shrugged, turning his attention back to his game. “Quick, find cover, find cover! There’s a sniper!”

Then, after washing Alexia’s sweat off his hands, Chaim snatched Nathaniel’s phone out of his hands. “Why did you do that?”

“You know it was me?” Nathaniel raised an eyebrow slightly.

Chaim sat across from him with piercing eyes.

“Well, I’m doing it all for you.” Nathaniel said, casually folding his legs.

“For me?”

“Of course. Would you be able to handle the idea of your wife dancing with another man?”

Chaim thought for a while and surprisingly found that the answer was no.

“I’m right, aren’t I?” Nathaniel snatched his phone back. “So, you should thank me.”

“Alright, why aren’t you back at the hospital yet?”

“I’m waiting for you.” Nathaniel’s expression became serious. “Did you tell her about the thing?”

“Yes.”

“So what does that mean? Did she agree to it?”

“No, she said to think about it.”

“How long is that going to take? Evelyn’s condition can’t wait for long.”

“When is the best time for the first surgery?”

Nathaniel held up a hand, “No more than five days, the sooner she does the first surgery, the better her condition, and the success rate of the second surgery will be higher.”

“Okay; I will talk to Alexia again after the party.”

With that, Nathaniel brushed off his clothes as he stood up, “Okay, then I’ll leave first.”

“Okay.”

At 11 p.m., Chaim returned to the villa.

He found Aunt Song watching TV as he walked into the living room.

“You’re back, sir?” Aunt Song looked at him in surprise.

“Aunt Song, why haven’t you rested yet?”

“I can’t sleep.” Aunt Song replied with a smile.

Chaim looked around, “Where’s Alexia?”
