Chapter 107
As the first light of dawn creeps through the curtains, I rise from the bed, determined to face whatever comes my way. I will find the answers about my mother, and I will endure. For my pack, for my family, and for the sliver of hope that refuses to die within me, my father will change his mind about me having to marry Boyd, or hopefully, Dane 1s still adamant about not going ahead
I dress quickly into jeans, a cami, and a hoodie before slipping my feet into my slippers. In the mirror, I could see the dark circles under my eyes, evidence of another restless night spent worrying about my future. But I pushed those thoughts aside, determined to focus on the task at hand
No one is in the kitchen when I have breakfast; the place is pretty quiet, making me wonder if Lydia and Linda are even there. After breakfast, I found my father in his study, surrounded by the familiar scents of coffee and old leather. He looked up from his paperwork as I entered and gave me a small smile
"Morning," he says when I step into his office. I'm curious about the rogues and the commune we found, and I also want to see if my father will lie about sending them to attack Zayn's pack
"Morning," I tell him while sitting down with a coffee. He watches me, closing his laptop
"T wanted to ask you about the rogue commune," I begin, trepidation knotting my stomach. "I spoke to one, and he said you banished them?"
My father's expression turns serious as he leans back in his chair, steepling his fingers in front of him. "Yes, I did," he confirms
"Why?" I press on, trying to keep my tone calm and neutral
"They refused to accept Linda as Luna," he says
"Thad to cast them out. They never joined another pack; I thought they would have, or at least joined Greyson's," He says
"We couldn't risk our pack's safety for a group of werewolves who refuse to follow our laws and submit," my father replies firmly. "It's unfortunate, but it had to be done."
"Why would they join Greyson's?" I ask, playing dumb. My father sighs and rubs a hand down his face before sitting back. "Because your mother and he found they were mates just
before she passed, they planned on joining the packs, as I said last night, but they were convinced I had something to do with her death."
"What would have become of you?" I ask him, and he shrugs
"T explained this last night already, Cleo. I know what you're doing. You're looking for holes in my story, but you won't find any. But as I said last night, your mother said I keep the house, nothing would have changed, but legally Greyson and your mother would own it, I could still remain as Alpha." he tells me. Well, if that was the deal, I couldn't see my father or Linda conspiring against them if nothing was going to change except on paper. I'm relieved and yet skeptical at the same time. My father has always been ruthless when it comes to protecting our pack and their territory especially after

witnessing that firsthand at the alpha meeting that day but I also know my father did love my mother. They were together for years and I couldn't see him hurting her
"Did you send them to attack Zayn's pack?" The question tastes like poison on my tongue
He sighs heavily, nodding once. "I just wanted you home, Cleo. When I ran into one of them hunting at the back of the lands, I offered them a deal, but then they never showed back up here." I don't bother correcting him and telling him they are at Alpha Greyson's pack now and that he has taken them in
Anger and betrayal war within me, but before I can voice them, he speaks again. "Have you considered Boyd's proposal?"
I shake my head, the mere thought suffocating
But before I can question him further, there is a knock at the door
"Come in," my father calls out
Lydia enters, carrying a pile of paperwork for my father to sign
"Mom needs you to go over these," she drops them on the desk. She greets me with a cold glare before walking out and leaving us alone again
"I know this is difficult for you, sweetheart," my father says gently after Lydia leaves
"I'm not sure what Zayn or the rogues told you, but you'll see my intentions have always been for the best of our family and the pack. Linda may be my mate, but that doesn't mean my love for your mother died the day I met Linda." "So, about apologizing to Dane and the marriage agreement?"
"But what about love? Shouldn't that matter?" I ask bitterly, hating that I have no say in anything anymoreOriginal from NôvelDrama.Org.
He sighs and reaches out to pat my hand reassuringly. "Love doesn't always come first in these matters. Your happiness 1s important, but the good of our pack must come first."
"Just think about it; I won't force your hand, but please think about it." my father presses. "Alpha Dane has invited us for dinner." I nod my head in agreement, knowing that my father is right. I must put the needs of the pack before my own. I pause to consider his words. I take a deep breath and nod in agreement. "T'll think about it," I say
