Chasing Back My Ex-wife

Chapter 59

Chapter 59

"You said it all so smoothly!" Lucy stared at her and smiled sarcastically. "So smoothly that we'd think you did it!"

She made someone take the blame, but she didn't even tell him what to say.

Was Lizbeth stupid, or did she think she could easily fool everyone?

"Lucy, what does that mean? I'm so kind as to help you. It's fine if you don't appreciate it, but how could you slander me like this! Someone like you deserves it even if you were r*ped!" After being mocked repeatedly, Lizbeth couldn't take it any longer and her expression was fierce!

As soon as she finished talking—

Bang!

The door of the ward opened, and Arthur, who had changed into a clean suit, walked in. His gaze was as cold as ice.

Lizbeth's fierce expression immediately changed into a pitiful one. "Arthur, I helped Lucy out of kindness, but she slandered me. I was angry, so I...said some mean things."

Arthur would definitely believe her, just like many times before!

"Nonsense! It was clearly you who..." Kylah, who was furious, only managed to talk halfway before Lucy cut her off plainly. "Kylah, you don't have to say anything more. Arthur would believe it even if Lizbeth said the sun rises in the west."

Whether or not she explained herself, Arthur would still believe Lizbeth anyway.

Arthur clenched his hands and loosened them, clenched them again and loosened them. His heart felt like it was being poked with needles.

She was right. Just ten hours ago, he still didn't believe that Lizbeth had done such a thing.

How many mistakes had he done to disappoint Lucy so terribly?

Kylah glared at Arthur. He was so blind that it was a miracle he had survived till this day!

"Lucy, you sound so salty. Are you jealous that Arthur treats me well?" Lizbeth didn't notice Arthur's changes at all, and she was being very arrogant. "But my relationship with Arthur was built since childhood. It's not something you can have..."

"Get out!" Arthur turned to look at her, his gaze icy.

Lizbeth was stunned at first, then she looked at Jenson, who was behind her. She secretly felt happy. "Jenson, you hired people to kidnap Lucy, so Arthur is very displeased with you. Please leave us."

Fortunately, she had asked Jenson in advance to take the blame for her, or Arthur would definitely hate her!

"You, get out!" Arthur turned around fully and stared at Lizbeth sharply.

Lucy felt astonished. Arthur had never treated Lizbeth that way!

"... me?" Lizbeth pointed at herself, feeling scared and in disbelief. "Arthur, Jenson hired people to kidnap Lucy. It wasn't me. Is there some sort of misunderstand or..."

"Throw her out!" Arthur didn't want to hear another word from her, and he commanded coldly.

Max stepped forward and said, "This way please, Miss Byrd."

"I won't leave. I must explain everything to Arthur! Arthur, Jenson was behind all this, and I have nothing to do with it! I pity Lucy very much too, but you can't drag me into the incident!"

Lizbeth was panicking. Arthur always believed in whatever she said, but why was he acting different that day?

What had gone wrong?

"I told you to throw her out. Can't you hear me?" Arthur's expression was stony, and he raised his voice.

Max wasn't that polite this time. He stepped forward and escorted Lizbeth out.

"That's enough, we can see ourselves out." Jenson blocked Max's way and pulled Lizbeth outside.

Lizbeth shook his hand off and ran to Arthur, still carrying a sliver of hope. "Arthur, I already said that I have nothing to do with the kidnapping..."

"Lizbeth, do you take everyone for fools?" Chad couldn't stand it anymore. "Arthur is well-aware of who was behind this kidnapping. If you don't want to get yourself embarrassed, then get the hell out of here!"

How dare someone as stupid as Lizbeth try to harm someone else? How audacious of her!

For the first time, Kylah got a good impression of Chad, and she gave him a thumbs-up. "You finally did something right!"

"Bravo, handsome man." Caden, who had been absorbed in watching the drama, praised Chad without hesitation. Anyone who helped his mother was a good person! © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

"You flatter me!" Chad smiled and winked at Caden. He was liking that little boy more and more!

"Arthur," Lizbeth still didn't give up. She bit her lip and asked pitifully, "I said that I didn't do this. Why won't you believe me?"

Why did Arthur believe that little b*tch instead of her?

She had known Arthur longer than that b*tch had. He should believe her!

"Your fever has subsided." Arthur ignored Lizbeth and reached out to touch Lucy's forehead. A hint of gentleness appeared on his handsome face.

The sight of them pricked Lizbeth's eyes. She stomped her feet and ran out the door crying.

Jenson frowned while looking at everyone in the ward. Then, he immediately ran after Lizbeth saying, "Lizbeth, wait for me!"

With two people gone, the ward instantly felt much more spacious.

Looking towards the open door, Lucy was stunned for a moment. Arthur had actually scolded Lizbeth.

"Do you still feel unwell?" Arthur's gaze fell on her leg, where spots of blood were showing. He felt very sorry for her.

If he had suspected Lizbeth earlier, Lucy would not have suffered so much!

"I'm fine." Lucy wasn't used to this version of Arthur. He had never spoken to her to warmly.

Only then did Arthur relax a little. "Okay. Tell me if you feel unwell. After you recover, we'll go back to Lindbarry Chateau."

Hearing that, Lucy immediately frowned.

He had risked his life to save her this time, and she was very touched. Nonetheless, she still hated how he had treated her last time. It was a different story altogether.

Arthur thought that she agreed, and he smiled slightly. "Are you hungry? I brought you something to eat."

Right then, Max walked over with two lunchboxes. When he opened them, there was pasta and sandwiches inside.

Those were Lucy's favorites last time.

"Arthur, I..." After all, he had saved her life, so she picked her words carefully. "People change. I may not like what I used to like five years ago anymore."

That was because she had loved him so passionately in the past, but all she had gotten in return for her passion was his cold shoulder. She was afraid, and she didn't want to love anymore!

"Here, eat." Arthur's hand, which was holding a sandwich, paused for awhile, then he handed it to her. However, he felt hurt.

Lucy put the sandwich on the table, wanting to say something more.

"I still have some business to deal with. I'll come visit you tomorrow." Arthur spoke up before her and left.

He didn't want to hear what she was trying to tell him!

"Lucy." Chad didn't notice the tension between them and waved with a smile. "See you tomorrow!"

Then, he ran after Arthur.
