Chapter 125
I was furing, my anger simmering just below the surface. It had been three days since I’d gotten rid of those fools who’d dared to step foot in my home. I’d thought that would be the end of it, that I could finally have some peace and quiet. And for a while, it was.
Things were peaceful between Kira and me. We were coexisting without any problems, and I had to admit, I was enjoying it. I was starting to get used to having her around, to having someone to share my space with. We’d even started having conversations, real conversations, not just small talk. I was learning things about her, things I never knew. Like the fact that she had a really small bladder and a scar behind her ear.
But just as I was starting to relax, my phone rang. Again. For the tenth time that day. I groaned, not recognizing the number. I shouldn’t have picked up, but I did and f****g hell did I regret it.
“Aston, where are you?” Mara’s shrill voice pierced my eardrum “You should be home from your trip already,”
1 rolled my eyes, regretting answering the phone. “Mara, I told you I’d be back when I’m back. Stop calling me.”
“But Aston, I need to know when you’re coming home. I have plans for us.”
I sighed, trying to remain patient. “Mara, I don’t know how many times I have to tell you. I’m busy. I’ll be home when I’m home.”
But
J-cut her off, my patience wearing thin. “Mara, stop. Just stop. I’ll talk to you later.”
I hung up the phone, blocking the number. Again. I couldn’t believe she’d gotten a new number already. I was starting to think she had a collection of them
I looked over at Kira, who was watching me with a concerned expression. “Everything okay?” she asked.
I nodded, trying to brush it off. I didn’t know what mentioning Mara would do to the mood and I didn’t want to ruin it.
I was at my wit’s end, feeling like I was being pulled in a million different directions. Mara was still leaving countless messages for me, each one more venomous than the last. I couldn’t believe she was still going on about this. I had told her time and time again that I would return when I was ready, but she just wouldn’t let up.
And it wasn’t just Mara. Brak seemed to be getting restless too. They were both starting to question my leadership. wondering why I was spending so much time away from the pack. It never used to be a problem how long I was gone, but now that I had gone with Kira, they wouldn’t stop bothering me.
“Aston, when are you coming back?” Brax asked, his voice laced with frustration.
“I’ll be back when I’m ready,” I replied, trying to keep my cool.
“But Aston, the pack needs you,” another member chimed in. “We can’t keep going on like this without you.” Said the man that would take over-the pack in an instant if he ever got the chance.
“Aston, I know you’re with that human,” she spat in one of her messages. “I know you’re choosing her over me. You’re a traitor, Aston.” As if that was supposed to make me feel sad?
I rolled my eyes, deleting the message. I couldn’t believe she was still going on about this. Didn’t she understand that 1 needed some time to myself? Didn’t she understand that I was trying to figure some things out? If only the b***h could see for herself that I was doing her a favour.
But no, she just wouldn’t let up. And neither would the Brax but didn’t give two shits.
I was frustrated, feeling like I was getting nowhere. I had come to get Kira out of my head, but she was still stuck there, lingering in my thoughts like a ghost. I couldn’t shake her off, no matter how hard I tried. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her face, her smile, her eyes. Every time I breathed, I smelled her scent, her perfume, her skin.
And then, like a punch to the gut, it hit me. I wasn’t ready to go liack yet.” I was being this way because I was not ready to go home yet. For the first time in my life. I enjoyed a girl for more than the sex she had to offer for her company, for the way she moved everything I realized how f***d up that was I needed to get my brain out of the gutters. Kira was my slave and most importantly she was the former mate of a guy that I would never be able to get along with even if the world was coming to an end and to crown it all, my brother seemed to have feelings for her.
I was out running errands, and I asked Kira to come along with me. It had become a habit now, taking her everywhere I went. I couldn’t risk her getting killed before I got back from wherever I went.
First, we went grocery shopping. We walked through the aisles, picking out what we needed. I got some meat, vegetables, and fruits. Kira grabbed some things too, and I told her to just ring it up and hand them my card.
“Hey, do you need any help finding anything?” I asked her as we walked through the store,
“No, I’m good,” she replied, smiling. “I think I’ve got everything need
As we checked out, I couldn’t help but notice the way the cashier looked at us. She seemed curious, wondering who we were and what our story was. I just smiled and paid, taking our bags and heading out the door.
Next, we went to the hardware store. I needed to pick up some supplies for a project I was, working on. Kira wandered off, looking at the different tools and gadgets. I found what I needed and headed over to her.
Find anything interesting?” I asked, nodding towards the drill she was holding.
“Yeah, I was just looking at this,” she said. “I’ve never seen one like it before.”
I took it from her and showed her how it worked. She listened intently, asking questions and making comments. I liked that, about her, she was curious and eager to learn.
As we left the store, I asked her if she wanted to grab some lunch She agreed, and we headed to a nearby café. We sat down at a table, looking over the menu.
“What do you want?” I asked her.
“I’ll just have a sandwich,” she replied. “And a coffee.”
I nodded, ordering for us. As we waited for our food.Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
When our food arrived, we dug in, savouring the flavours. It was a nice moment, just the two of us, enjoying each other’s
company.
As we sat at the café, enjoying our lunch, I couldn’t help but notice the way the waiter was looking at Kira. He was eyeing her, smiling at her, and flirting with her in a way that made my blood boil. I felt a surge of anger and possessiveness, and I had to fight the urge to lash out at him
I glanced over at Kira, who seemed oblivious to the waiter’s advances. She was chatting with me, laughing and smiling, and I felt a pang of jealousy. Why was this guy looking at her like that? Didn’t he know she was with me?
The waiter came over to refill our drinks, and I could feel my anger simmering just below the surface. I wanted to poke holes
in his body and watch him bleed to death. I knew it was irrational, but I couldn’t help how I felt.
Hey, can I get you guys anything else?” the waiter asked, his eyes locked on Kira.
“No, we’re good I replied, my voice tight with anger.
Kira looked at me, concern etched on her face. “Hey, are you okay?” she asked.
I nodded, trying to shake off the feeling of possessiveness. “Yeah I’m fine.”
But as we finished our lunch and prepared to leave, I knew I wasn’t fine. I was still seething with anger, and I knew I needed to get out of there before I did something I regretted.
“You know, maybe we should head back to the house,” I said to Kira.
She nodded, looking at me with concern. “Yeali, okay. Is everything alright?”
I nodded, trying to reassure her. “Yeah, everything’s fine. I just need to get out of here.”
Staying in the same room with her was not going to work. I was just trying to puncture an innocent boy because of how he looked at a girl whose mate I even wasn’t. I was loosing my f***g mind. It turns out being stuck in the same house was not going to help you stop that reoccurring thought in your head telling
