Chapter 71
Chapter 71
Dorian averted his gaze. Although his tone was still gentle, it was void of emotions. “Go home and rest. Call me if there’s any problem.”
Sierra was a utile disappointed. After she had shown so much Initiative, Dorian still seemed unattracted
to her.
Feigning a brave front, she walked toward her apartment and wanted to find out if he would wait on the same spot until she was in her house. She turned around just a few seconds later, but his car was already nowhere to be seen.
Frozen on the spot, she clenched her fists, realizing that Dorian had changed.
In the Maybach, Dorian said with closed eyes, “Back to Jefferson Manor.”
Jon paused for a second. Then, he hit the pedal, turned around and headed toward Jefferson Manor.
As expected, there was no one else in Jefferson Manor besides Jessie, who was cleaning the house. The house was empty and lacked the warmth of life, giving off an eerie atmosphere instead.
Dorian lay on the couch, and Jessie approached him after the house chores were done. While rubbing her. hands nervously, she asked, “Mr. Jefferson, what would you like for dinner? I’ll prepare it for
away.
“It’s alright. You can rest after cleaning up.” Dorian refused in a solemn voice.

His answer caught Jessie by surprise. Just a minute ago, she was worried that Dorian would ask her to give Gisele a call, but he dismissed her for the day instead. Although she couldn’t read Dorian’s mind, she nodded without hesitation. “Okay, Mr. Jefferson. See you tomorrow.”
Deftly, Jessie packed up and left. Soon, the already quiet house immediately lost its last remnant of liveliness and turned as dead as an abandoned city.
Lying on the couch, Dorian suddenly remembered Gisele sitting-

What was she thinking at that time? Soon, without even realizing, he drifted off to sleep.
Just like that, he slept until 2:00 am. Staring into the dark living room, he waited a while for his eyes to adjust to the darkness before turning on the lights. When the lights flickered on, the loneliness around him dissipated, but his stomach started rumbling.
So, he strolled into the kitchen and scanned around, only to find nothing in the clean and tidy kitchen. With his phone in his hand, he returned to the living room and called Jon. “I’m hungry.”
After saying those words, he hung up and left Jon, who was on call round–the–clock, in total confusion. A few minutes later, he finally understood what Dorian meant and punched in a string of numbers.
The phone rang for a long while before someone picked it up. “Hello? Gisele’s sleepy voice echoed from
the other end of the line.

“Ms. Meyer, Mr. Jefferson is hungry,” Jon said indifferently.
Having picked up the call in a daze, Gisele was confused and blurted, “He should eat something if he’s hungry. It’s not like he’s a three–year–old who can’t feed himself. Even if he is, he shouldn’t be looking for
me.”
Then, she hung up, turned over, and went back to sleep. She was exhausted.
That afternoon, when she returned to the apartment, she had grounded all the herbs in the house and made them into different types of pills, teabags, and cooking ingredients.
She was so busy that she only managed to grab a bite at midnight. After that, she washed up simply and
went to bed.
“Ring, ring.”
Once again, her phone started ringing. This time, her blurry mind cleared up a lot, and she answered the call. “What’s up?”
“Ms. Meyer, Mr. Jefferson’s stomach feels uncomfortable whenever he’s hungry. Please make him a healthy meal and deliver it to Jefferson Manor,” Jon’s crisp and cold voice said quickly.
As though worried that she would hang up, before he ended the call, he added, “If you have any questions, you can check with Mr. Jefferson. He’s waiting for you.”
Click.
Then, he hung up.
Completely awake, Gisele stared at her phone in disbelief. Did he just order her to make a healthy meal in
the dead of the night?
Gisele rubbed her eyes and called Jon. “We’re sorry. The number you’ve dialed is turned off. Please try
again later…”
Speechless, she wondered when Jon started being lazy. Didn’t he know how much Dorian hated her?
As she snuggled in her huge, soft bed without moving a muscle, she struggled within herself because of this. A part of her didn’t want to do this while part of her nagged her to do it. Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
“This is so annoying! Whoever wants to eat should just cook for themselves!” Gisele wailed, tossing
around in bed.
