Chapter 34 Resounding Victory
Chapter 34 Resounding Victory
Edward quivered hearing his brother’s words. He took a secret look at his elder brother, who happened
to look toward him coldly. Subconsciously he retreated half step and got goose bumps on the back of
his head.
Charles, different from his two younger brothers, handled the company affairs since his childhood. All
people who conspired against the Chambers Group would have been killed or muzzled by him, which
included Edward.
The Chambers Group had long been in the hands of Charles since Maddox's withdrawal to the present.
So all things in the family were decided by Charles besides Maddox.
Edward just wanted to take his son away quickly. He said, “Yes, brother, you are right. It is my poor
parenting that has caused so much trouble. I will teach Eric a lesson when we get home.”
“Go! Apologize!” Edward twisted his eyebrows and pushed Eric.
Eric was speechless. He was afraid of Charles, though he was unwilling to, he had to apologize to
everyone. Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
“We are family and you are the youngest. I made a move because I was nervous, I will forgive you.”
Steven exhaled like a sigh of relief and patted Eric's shoulder with kindness.
Eric had got beaten and could not vent his anger out, so he gritted his teeth hard. Wearing a fake
smile, he said a few words and was taken away by his father.
After the two men left, Maddox closed his eyes slightly and muttered, “Steven, I'm going to take your
being the paramour of that girl as a whim. It's up to you whatever you want to do with the woman you
like. But she is the vice president of the Shaws Group. Do you know what that means?”
Steven knew this was the secret of the family, and it was Charles and Maddox's taboo. They were
afraid that he would collude with others to ruin the Chambers’ Group. Unfortunately, he really wanted to
do so.
The Shaws family was not the enemy of the Chambers family at the very beginning. It was due to the
enmity of the last generations. About twenty or thirty years ago, when Maddox was still in his prime, he
and Griffin Shaws, the owner of the Shaws family fell for the same woman, namely Gloria Smith, Viola's
mother.
Their relationship gradually became tense and finally fell apart completely. It was because they were
having a big quarrel at a dinner party, Griffin slipped off a balcony, leaving him disabled for life. But
none of them could marry Gloria. Myles Sutton married her in the end.
“Sure, but I didn't know she was the vice president of the Shaws Group at first.” Steven answered
sincerely.
“So are you going to continue your relationship with her?” Charles asked.
Steven looked down and thought about it, looking embarrassed, then hesitantly said, “Brother, I don’t
mean to...”
“Well, that is it.” Maddox seemed to be tired. He pinched his eyebrows. “Steven, your mother will be
back soon after playing cards. Stay home for a few days and spend more time with her. She misses
you.”
“Ok.” Steven replied meekly, “I'll go back to my room first.”
“Go ahead.”
At the moment when Steven turned around, his smile disappeared instantly. The warm sun outside
shone on his chiseled face through the window. He walked silently and calmly step by step, like a beast
before hunting, walking freely in the territory.
Dusk was coming.
It was already seven o'clock when Viola got home. She made a bowl of noodles with broth for herself.
She had no appetite and only ate half of it. As she put down her fork, she got a message.
