Chapter 13
It had already been midnight when Colin sent them home.
Jolene was a little embarrassed. After settling down with her mother, she had invited Colin to have a midnight snack at the snack bar at the community gate.
As soon as the spaghetti was served, Jolene had received a message from Bowen Evert.
She had taken a sip of the hot spaghetti soup and clicked on.
Bowen had said, “Aren’t you at home?”
Jolene’s hands had trembled, and the soup had burned her lips.
It seemed that Bowen had gone to her place at night.
She had thought he would not come tonight.
She had quickly replied with one hand, “Aren’t you with Miss Viona?”
“Who would look at the moon all night?” After reading the text, Jolene had felt Bowen’s displeasure, then Bowen had said, “Aren’t you still dating Colin?”
Jolene hadn’t intended to tell him about the family affairs and had replied vaguely, “Yeah.”
After finishing a bowl of spaghetti, Jolene and Colin had just

walked out of the snack bar when Bowen had called.
His tone had been low and concise, “Where are you?”
“Just finished supper.”
“Come back, and I’ll wait for you.‘

Jolene had hung up the phone and found Colin watching her.
She had smiled and smoothed her long hair that had been blown by the wind, “Thank you so much, Colin. It’s too late, and you should go home.”
“Are you staying at your mother’s house or going home?”
Jolene had thought of Bowen still being at her house, “Go home.”
“I’ll take you back.”
Jolene hadn’t had a reason to refuse, and besides, it had been late at night, and it had always been dangerous for her to take a taxi alone.
She had gotten into Colin’s car.
But she hadn’t let Colin take her downstairs to the unit, and Jolene had excused that it had been troublesome to register in the community and had gotten out of the car.
She hadn’t wanted Colin to see Bowen’s car.
She hadn’t cared what other people had thought of her.
But Colin had been different.

Jolene had thanked Colin, gotten off the car, and taken a few steps. Colin had suddenly called her name.
“Jolene.”
She had stopped, turned her head, and looked at him from afar, “Huh?”
“I’ve taken a fancy to you. How about you?” Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
The wind had picked up, and Jolene’s long curly hair had blown.
She had tilted her head and smiled, “The day after tomorrow, I’ll treat you to dinner.”
She hadn’t said she had liked him or that she hadn’t liked him.
When she had gotten home, she had seen Bowen sitting on the sofa in the living room as soon as she had opened the door.
Judging by his appearance, he had been waiting for her for a while.
Jolene had hung up the bag on the door hanger, leaned against the shoe cabinet to change shoes.
Bowen had hugged her from behind and suddenly lifted her skirt.
Jolene had changed half of her shoes and had looked a little embarrassed.

And she had been a little tired after tossing all night, so she had struggled a bit, “It’s too late. There is an early meeting tomorrow.”
Bowen had never forced a woman. He had stopped since she had been struggling.
Besides, Jolene’s hair had smelled of other men.
Not smoke, not cologne.
It’s hard to say, but it had been the smell of other men who didn’t belong to Bowen.
In addition, the first time she had refused, Bowen had suddenly lost interest.
Bowen had let go of her, watching the woman hurriedly change her shoes, then he had trotted to the bathroom to remove her make–up.
Bowen had stood in the living room, waiting for her to come out. Jolene’s face had been full of exhaustion after removing her makeup.
Jolene had yawned and had been about to speak when she had heard Bowen ask her indifferently, “Is blind date so tiring?”
Jolene had stepped on the slippers and had walked before Bowen, raising her head with a tired smile, “I’m not as powerful as Mr. Evert. You are still so energetic after you have taken Miss Viona to Kea Mountain. Mr. Evert, I’m tired.”
