Chapter 68 You Reek Of Money
Chapter 68 You Reek Of Money
"D*nm, is this the same Henry Maynard I know who never wears anything that is not specifically
tailored for him?"
Lucas asked in surprise, but there was a teasing smile on his face. He was wondering why Henry didn't
get him to pick them up earlier since they were both fine, but it appears that he just wanted to enjoy the
sweet rural life with Luz.
"Do you think everyone is like you, relying on their appearance to keep up their reputation?"
Henry rolled his eyes coldly. Lucas immediately shut his mouth. If he gets offended, he would be in Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
trouble.
After bidding farewell to the farmer's wife and her family reluctantly, Luz followed Henry to the landed
helicopter.
"I've given this family 100,000 dollars as compensation for hosting you guys these couple of weeks."
After the helicopter safely took off, Lucas said with a smile, "These people were lucky to have met
Henry. 100,000 dollars was a hefty fortune to a village like this."
"You reek of money." Mia covered her nose in disgust.
"Hey, woman, when I jumped off the plane with you in my arms, why didn't you say that I reeked of
money then? Who was it that pressed against me like a koala bear?"
"Lucas, you!"
Mia was furious as soon as she heard that. This day was definitely the worst day for her.
"If you're going to argue, get off the helicopter."
Henry interrupted the dispute with dissatisfaction. Mia glared at Lucas. She didn't want to jump off any
flying vehicles again, especially with Lucas.
They quieted down. Henry pulled Luz into his arms and pushed her head onto his shoulder. "Take a
nap."
"..."
Mia and Lucas stared at the both of them in surprise, completely forgetting their argument. It had just
been two weeks, and the two of them...
Luz was a little embarrassed, but she could only lie in Henry's arms and pretend to rest with her eyes
closed. Only in this way could she avoid the suggestive gazes.
The helicopter stopped in the big yard of the Maynard Family mansion. As soon as she got off the
plane, Logan leapt into her arms.
"Mommy, I was so worried about you!"
The little fellow looked up. He once thought that the bad guy, Henry, had taken his mommy away.
When Luz saw her son in her arms, she began to cry. She squatted down and held his little body tightly
in her arms. After being kidnapped by drug dealers, what she feared most was that she could no longer
see Logan and could not accompany him to grow up.
"I will take care of you until you grow up and get married.
"
She reached out to tap his nose, taking deep breaths to stop herself from crying.
"I don't want to get married. I want to be with Mommy forever."
The little fellow shook his head fervently, causing Henry to frown.
"Luz, Henry, you're finally back."
The old lady also came over. Her face was still pale, but her eyes were bright with happiness.
"Grandma, I'm sorry."
Luz stood up. She had heard that her grandmother's blood pressure had spiked several times because
of them. Grandmother was good to her, but she repaid her by making her worried.
"Silly girl, I just want you to come back safely."
The old lady's lips were trembling. During the first few days, she had hardly slept. She was afraid that
something bad would happen to Henry and Luz.
"Grandma, we are all fine."
Henry took two steps forward and held her arm. His expression was calm, not at all like someone who
had almost died.
Maddison was trying hard to smile, but her smile looked more like a grimace. She had always hoped
that something would happen to Henry. She had prayed every night for these two to never appear in
front of her ever again, but it seems like God had ignored her prayers. They had come back alive.
"Grandma has worried a lot about the two of you. You know she has high blood pressure and heart
diseases, so don't do this again. She's lost a son before, she might not be able to survive a second
time."
She was so frustrated that she complained without thinking. The old lady glared at her.
"You b*stard, how can you say that? That son I lost was your husband!"
Maddison was embarrassed after being scolded in public. "Mother, I was just warning them not to worry
you again."
At the same time, she was even more annoyed. Husband? Her husband left her and her son nothing
when he died. Instead, he left everything to his mother. That man had never loved her!
Maddison gritted her teeth in frustration at the thought of living under someone else's roof for the rest of
her life. "Just wait," she thought. "Bryce is coming home soon. He'll do something about the Maynard
family.
"
"Grandma, let's go inside."
Luz ignored Maddison and helped the old lady into the house.
"You're... oh, I remember, you're Luz's best friends, Mia, am I right?"
The old lady looked at Mia and took some time to recall her name.
"Nice to meet you, Mrs Maynard. I'm Mia James. You can just call me Mia." After greeting her politely,
Mia glanced at Lucas. They had done what they came here for, so they should leave.
"Um, Grandma, I've delivered Henry back to you safely. I'll just leave now, then."
Lucas chuckled. He really didn't like anyone from the Maynard Family except for Henry and the old
lady.
"Where do you think you're going? Stay here and have lunch with us."
"I..."
Henry made the decision for him. "Stay for lunch."
The servants in the kitchen began to get busy. Luz and Mia were talking to the old lady, so the little
fellow naturally stayed with his mother.
Henry glanced at Lucas and went straight to the third floor.
"What, you want to report your status on your mission in rekindling old love?"
Lucas followed him upstairs. He closed the door and began to gossip with a smile. In the last seven
years, Henry had never let go of Luz. It looks like the kidnapping really helped them in this regard,
speeding up their love quickly.
"What happened to the syndicate?" Henry wasn't planning on satisfying his thirst for gossip. He did not
forget about the people who hurt Luz.
The helicopter we fought in crashed, everyone in it died. The ones who were shooting from below were
arrested, but the police didn't manage to get them to snitch out the main syndicate. It's either these
people are really good or the police are incompetent."
"Tell them I will financially support the operation to catch the syndicate."
