Chapter 146
Chapter 146
Chloe's POV
At the announcement, everything in the banquet hall seemed to have stopped.
The elders and officials with me all froze on the spot as they looked at the direction of the announcement. At the central most end of the banquet hall was a stairway. There, all eyes laid with awe and reverence.
The next moment, | felt a cold wave of blood thirst sweeping around the entire hall. The aura was heavy and oppressing, most of all it was several times more fearsome and ferocious as my father’s suppressing aura.
While the aura was heavy and ruthless, no one resisted. Instead, everyone knelt down with their heads lowered as their mouth opened greeting in unison, “Greetings to the new Lord of the werekind Alpha Kain!”
My eyes swept at the positions where Vannessa and the rest were, fortunately, all of us were able to react on time as this was all happening.
Finally after five years of running away, four of us will lay our eyes on the person who brought our pack into ruins.
“Keep your cool and quickly regroup the moment the party resumes.” | sent a mindlink to my comrades as | was worried that they would leak out any form of rage in their bodies.
Everyone in the hall waited for the figure above to reply to the heartfelt greetings but we were all given with silence. Two pairs of eyes swept in the crowd as if he was savoring the view of the entire all kneeling down toward him in submission.
Just thinking about it made my stomach churn in rage and disgust. However, now is not the time to move yet. Clenching my fist so hard that | felt my nails digging through my palms, | blinked and tried to let out an expression of fawning and infatuation.
Since the identity of the alpha was known to have an affection to Alpha Kain, then | braced myself to act like one, even though it was too hard for me to maintain calmness deep inside.
“At ease!” Finally after the long eerie silence, a cold voice with a tone of haughtiness sounded slowly leaving another wave of cold shivers in everyone's bodies. Ironically, no one dared to lift their heads nor even dared to breathe loudly.
Slow and steady steps sounded as we felt the owner of the voice walking down the staircase. It was as if the King had descended and us the peasants must pay our utmost respect.
The sound of footsteps became louder as Alpha Kain came nearer to the audience until finally it came to a stop. Alpha Kain’s voice sounded once more, but this time, it was a little bit lighter and easy-going as compared to earlier.
“| have gathered everyone today to see if my subjects are well and good. This is a night to celebrate our strength even after the enemy tried to shake us down... Continue the banquet!”
As if in a queue everyone lifted up their heads and stood, there | saw the face of my enemy whom | have been preparing to defeat in the last five years.Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
Alpha Kain wore an elegant suit that accentuated his coldheartedness. His pale complexion added to the fearsome aura being emanated in his deep brown eyes.
Everywhere he looked feels like an attack that could easily pierce one's heart into nothingness. “This man is dangerous!” Aurora told me with great apprehension in her voice. “I don’t like him Chloe!”
“| don’t like him as well,,,” | replied as | burned his face in my mind. This was the person who destroyed all my father’s hardwork and legacy. This is the person who caused the destruction of the Blood Moon Pack!
“How are you??” While | was in my thoughts, Allan and Vannessa finally approached me and asked about my condition. “Everything's fine, | guess... How’s it going?” | asked.
“Nothing much... but there were some clues here and there...” Vanessa answered softly but her eyes were stuck at the direction where Kain was in.
Her eyes were filled with passionate rage, as if she was relieving the pain and despair she felt when she saw the pack crumble before her eyes.
“Allan...” | knew that it would be hard for Vanessa to reign her emotions at the moment, and so | mindlinked Allan to take her somewhere to calm down.
As for me, | was dragged by the rest of the Alpha from another pack to greet Alpha Kain one by one. | acted as if nothing happened as | followed where Kain’s table was.
Each of us had a glass on our hands as we would be initiating a toast as a sign of submission to Kain. In an orderly manner, we formed a line on the side while ensuring that Alpha Kain is still the center of the banquet. He was indeed treated like a king as us, his subjects approached him with fawning.
One by one, the Alpha of the annexed packs approached and gave a toast, to which Kain accepted with great pleasure. In a blink of an eye, it was my turn, to which | still caught off guard.
| stepped forward but my disgust and rage were on the verge of leaking out. Trying to calm myself down, my steps destabilized as | moved forward.
“No!” | thought to myself, but fortunately | was able to quickly find my balance and remain standing without a hitch.
“Oh, it seems like Alpha Aira still could not hide her affection forge) Alpha Kain!” The othe teased, anne . .

Using that as a scapegoat, | acted like a maiden in love, as | stammered and gave a shy glance toward Kain, “I... bring my toast to the Lord, Alpha Kain!”
Sounds of whistles and cheers rang behind, teasing ‘Alpha Aira’ once more. Kain on the other hand, gazed at me from head to toe as if he was examining an object.
“Hmmm...” He did not say anything and instead raised his glass to accept the toast. | sighed in relief the moment | saw his actions and knew that my turn was done.
However, his voice sounded with a dangerous tone that caused everything in my head to alarm in panic, “I never knew that Alpha Aira who always looked shy would leak out a ferocious aura before me.”
‘He sensed the hostility | leaked out earlier!’ | thought in surprise.
“Alpha Kain, |...| don’t dare do such disrespect!” | shivered as if acting aggrieved and looked around to the others as if seeking help.
“Hmmm... from what | sensed, that fearless aura came from you, who were in front of me 2{ Kaircrsised! his prows)iils OSS Hid not look like he would show mercy even to someone who had already shown affection towards him. Please read the original content at .
“Please... my lord, I...” | struggled to find words to say, but in my mind, | communicated already to Vanessa and the rest to prepare for the worst.
But the next moment, an aide came rushing beside Kain whispering something that looked urgent.
Kain’s expression changed from being ruthless to being pleasantly surprised as he let oyta chuckle logyediat ne, ASRaha, Alpha Aira, apologies for suspecting you. Who would have known that the aura | felt was not from you at all, but to my beloved new pack!” Please read the original content at .
As he said these words he pointed behind me and we all turned to see that the door of the banquet opened once more.
