Chapter 669 Is Your Daughter Of Age

Avery stopped crying at once when Tobias arrived. It gave everybody the impression that she was

mature enough to cease her tears for the collective good despite her pain.

Skylar regained her composure as well. It became clear to her that she was an outsider no matter what

Colleen said.

At the first sign of a confrontation, Colleen stood on Avery's side to gang up on me. No matter what she

says after this, I will never believe her anymore. I have seen where her priorities lie today.

Skylar did not know that Tobias was going to show up that night as she had not intended to extend the

invitation to him.

Wherever he went, Tobias was always at the center of attention with people simpering all around him.

He merely nodded to those who he did not know well as a means to return their greeting.

Skylar remained where she was and waited for Tobias to approach her.

His empty hands indicated that he did not come to celebrate Thomas' birthday. Dressed in a suit of

emerald green, his looks complemented Skylar and her black dress.

To Skylar's surprise, Tobias did not even glance in her direction as he made his way up the stairs with This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Thomas.

Her eyes followed him up the stairs, puzzled at being treated like a stranger.

“He didn't even look at you since he came in,” Avery whispered with savage pleasure. “Looks like he

lost interest in you! The trouble with having big dreams is that they can never be fulfilled.”

She was just crying a minute ago! Is nobody else seeing this bullsh*t? What a two-faced b*tch!

Skylar smirked, unbothered by her half-sister's scathing remark. “Is that so?” she replied lightly. “He

wouldn't even be here if it weren't for me. As for the marriage, I'm eagerly awaiting the day I ask you to

be my bridesmaid.”

Avery glared at her. I regret not having some boys to deal with her when we were in school together.

Her arrogant attitude is insufferable.

Just then, Colleen summoned Skylar to walk with her to the garden. It was cold outside and Skylar only

had a thin shawl around her shoulders. The cold wind blowing on her face made her head throb

painfully. Shuddering, she sneezed.

Colleen noticed that Skylar appeared a little more distant than she used to be.

“It occurred to me that my words might have been uttered without consideration of your feelings,”

Colleen began slowly. “Your sister means well, you know. I don't understand why you two wouldn't stop

quarreling. We're all family. For my sake, could you at least try to get along with Avery?”

Skylar laughed coldly. “What about me? If you actually respected me as you claim, you would refrain

from bringing this up again in the future. Please warn your beloved granddaughter against executing

whatever scheme she might be tempted to concoct.”

Colleen thought that Meredith had really ruined her. Children that grew up in the village tend to be more

calculative, narrow-minded, and vengeful. If I was the one to have raised Skylar, she could have turned

out differently. I have to take things slow with the girl.

Although Colleen longed for Skylar to reunite with the family, she was exasperated at how the latter

seemed convinced that her own family was against her.

Tobias and Thomas went up the stairs. Thomas set to work at once and brewed a pot of his best tea as

his guest took a seat.

Tobias did not care for the nauseatingly sweet tea like he did not care for matters regarding the Jones

family.

“Is your daughter of age?” he asked curtly.
