Chapter 708 Provide For You For The Rest Of Your Life
It was clear that Tobias had little understanding of women's emotions. Often, women preferred to hear
flattering lies compared to the truth as they wished to be praised as if they were ethereal beauties.
Skylar replied, “Nope. I'm on a diet. I want my eyes and brows to look prettier.”
Tobias could sense her jealousy, but he did not understand why she reacted in such a manner. I was just giving my honest opinion.
After instructing Skylar to wait by the door, Tobias retrieved a carton of milk from the refrigerator. He
placed it in the microwave and heated it for approximately thirty seconds before handing it to her. “You
need to replenish some protein. I'll drive you today. Where would you like to go?”
Skylar accepted the offer without any reservations.
With the cold air sweeping in the previous night, the outside temperature abruptly dropped to zero
degrees. As they made their way to the car, Skylar instinctively hunched her shoulders, shivering from
the piercing cold.
Tobias had not anticipated such extreme cold, especially with the biting morning wind that seemed to
penetrate one's bones. I should have warmed up the car first before asking Skylar to come out.
Regardless of how luxurious the car was, without the warm air circulating inside, it felt as frigid as an
ice cellar. As Skylar entered the car, her body shivered uncontrollably.
Despite not being known for being talkative, Tobias could not resist remarking, “You always dress so
lightly. When you're older, you'll regret it when illnesses come knocking. You may not realize it now in
your youth, but you'll regret it later.”
Skylar could not help but be reminded of her grandmother by his remark, and it made her ponder if that
was how elderly people tended to nag all the time.
Due to her slender physique, Skylar lacked the insulation of body fat that could help keep her warm in
the cold weather.
Tobias removed his coat and draped it over Skylar's lap, leaving himself with only a shirt on.
Skylar picked the coat up and returned it to him. “Won't you feel even colder if you don't have this? If
you get sick, there won't be anyone to look after you.”
She impulsively covered her mouth, realizing the potential impact of her words on the person before
her.
Tobias was not oblivious. He heard every word clearly.
It seemed he was unperturbed by what she said. “It doesn't matter if no one takes care of me. I've Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
grown accustomed to it over the years. I've faced illness numerous times, and I've always managed on
my own.”
Skylar quickly tried to rectify the situation, offering reassurance, “I was just making a casual remark. I
would never do that. Oh, I once came across a news story about a man and a woman who had been
dating for about six months. The man suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning, rendering him unable
to eat, drink, move, or speak—an unconscious state. Throughout it all, the woman cared for him
diligently. It's a truly touching tale of love.”
Tobias adjusted the car's heater to its maximum setting and, after changing gears, held the steering
wheel with one hand while tightly gripping Skylar's hand with the other. “If you were in her position,
what would you do?”
Having read the news and pondered similar scenarios before, Skylar responded without hesitation, “I
would undoubtedly stay and care for him. I can't just abandon him since I care about him.”
However, Tobias' demeanor remained indifferent. “Even regular couples can grow weary of each other
after a lifetime of marriage and raising children, let alone dealing with someone like him. No one will be
touched by your action, except for yourself. You'll simply be wasting your entire life on such a man.”
Skylar inserted a straw into the warm milk, and while biting down on it, she said, “Your thoughts terrify
me. I guess I'll have to prioritize taking good care of myself and avoiding unfortunate circumstances,
just in case you leave me during a difficult time.”
Tobias elaborated on his reasoning. “We mustn't be overly naïve if we want to survive in this world. I'm
referring to human nature in general, so there is no need for you to fret. Perhaps, my sole redeeming
quality is my financial stability, so don't worry, I won't abandon you. Even if you were to lose
consciousness, I would remain by your side, caring for you throughout your lifetime.”
