Chapter 714 Bad Dream
Skylar stared at the bowl of chicken soup on the coffee table, her appetite waning.
What she really needed at that moment were some vitality tablets to help calm her down.
“Don't bother with these anymore, Madelyn. It's just a waste of time and effort. Besides, I have no
appetite for it,” she said dismissively.
Madelyn didn't seem too enthusiastic about it either, but she found herself in a difficult position. “Mr.
Ford sent the ingredients over this afternoon. He specifically instructed me to make this nourishing
soup to boost your immune system before he left. He must think you're too skinny for your own good,”
she explained.
Skylar had heard Tobias mention earlier that morning that she was severely underweight.
He had remarked how her hands and feet were always icy cold as if he was cuddling up to an ice block
at night.
She thought it was just a passing comment, but now it seemed he was actually taking it seriously. He
was certainly proving to be an obstacle to her efforts in maintaining a fit physique.
Not wanting Tobias' efforts to be in vain, Skylar reluctantly consumed half a bowl of chicken soup.
She had been apprehensive ever since she arrived home, wondering if Tobias had discovered her
encounter with Marcus.
After all, Tobias had a strong distaste for his half-siblings.
As she sipped the soup, Madelyn commented, “Skylar, I must say, you're incredibly accomplished for
your age, and you have such a devoted spouse. You truly have it all.”
Skylar didn't take the compliment to heart, knowing that Madelyn had witnessed their countless fights.
Most of the time, Skylar did all the talking while Tobias remained silent. When he couldn't bear it any
longer, he would simply ask, “Are you done?”
It took Skylar a good half an hour to finish the bowl of chicken soup. Halfway through, Madelyn
excused herself and retired to her room.
Skylar glanced at the clock and realized it was nearly two in the morning. Once again, Tobias had spent
the entire night away without giving her prior notice.
Sometimes, she couldn't help but see this as one of the downsides of living together.
Tobias' absence made her feel insecure. Desperate for answers, she dialed his number, but it rang
unanswered for a long time. Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Frustrated, she retreated upstairs to her room and absentmindedly opened Instagram, only to swiftly
close it again, unwilling to subject herself to the negativity of the comments.
Her selfie from yesterday had garnered over a hundred thousand comments, but her followers had
dwindled by several hundred thousand.
It dawned on her that she had seen Isen on her blacklist a few days ago, but she dismissed it as a
glitch or network issue.
Yet, upon checking, Isen had mysteriously found himself back on her blacklist without her knowledge.
She opened the live stream, put on her earphones, and quietly listened to the song Isen was currently
singing.
At the same time, she felt sorry for Isen that he didn't have many opportunities to make it big and had
to settle for being a streamer despite his exceptional talent.
That night, Skylar had a dream where Tobias came home covered in blood, but he seemed unfazed as
he sat on the sofa, wounds visible all over his body.
