Chapter 776 Is It Fun Stealing Husbands
Saorise watched as Skylar stuffed the black card back into her pocket. Never had she expected to ever see a black card with an unlimited spending limit.
She could not be sure if Skylar was the owner of the phone that Tobias delivered that day. All she could remember was that the phone case was pink with a small rabbit on the back.
Patting her pockets, Saorise said in a spoiled and high-pitched voice, “Oops, I forgot to bring my phone. Can you lend me yours? I need to make a call to my manager. I'm afraid she's been waiting for me for too long.”
Skylar took out her phone and passed it to Saorise.
Upon inspecting Skylar's phone case, Saorise was certain that it was different from the one that she had seen the other day. I must've been misguided by the rumors too.
If Skylar was truly together with Tobias, Saorise would be unable to wrap her mind around how she was inferior to Skylar. While she desired to become closer to Tobias, the right opportunity for her to strike never emerged. Furthermore, she did not want to reveal her innermost desires. After all, a woman's dignity depended on how much a man cared for her.
Since Saorise went to the side with the phone, Skylar could not hear what she was talking about. Soon, Saorise handed the phone back and mocked her, “Your phone case is really cheap and the quality's horrible. I prefer a cuter case. One would assume that you're a dude if they didn't know who the phone belonged to.”
Skylar tossed the phone back into her bag. She had already grown out of her girly phase. The older she got, the more she preferred simplicity.
Saorise then said out of courtesy, “When are you free? I'll treat you to a meal.”
Skylar agreed out of politeness as well. On the way back, she looked at the two sets of pajamas. Far from bringing her any joy, those new pajamas that she bought made her heart ache.
She knew that a text message about the expenditure would appear on Tobias' phone, although he never cared about them. He would rather she spend more money on the card. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
Tobias did not call a single time during the day. Skylar did not know his whereabouts either.
Compared to boyfriends who would report to their girlfriends daily, Tobias was far more unpredictable, his whereabouts mysterious.
New Year's Day had just passed and the Golden Gala was coming up. Hence, Skylar headed to the company to rehearse instead of going home.
When the choreographer saw that she was late, he demanded unhappily, “What's up with you? I've been waiting for you. Don't you have a sense of punctuality?”
Skylar glanced at the time. Since they arranged to meet at half-past five, she arrived exactly on time. What do you mean, I don't have a sense of punctuality?
The choreographer, Hulk P, was extremely famous in the industry, having won numerous accolades and collaborated with multiple A-list celebrities.
During her interaction with him, she could obviously notice how dismissive he was of her. He made it blatantly obvious that it was beneath his status to choreograph for her.
When Skylar went to the changing room to change into her outfit, she bumped into Molly. Although Molly was trying to get closer to her, she had not been responding enthusiastically.
While tying her hair up, Molly shot her a sharp stare. Her previous eagerness to please was already gone.
“My dad divorced my mom.” Molly slammed the metal doors of the cupboard shut. The deafening sound startled Skylar, who had always been afraid of such sudden noises.
Even when she saw fireworks, her whole body would tense up and she would quickly cover her ears.
Frowning, she looked at Molly and asked in confusion, “Don't your parents get along well? The residents in the neighborhood always said your mom hit the jackpot by marrying him. Why did they suddenly get divorced?”
With an icy look still on her face, Molly scoffed and said, “Are you pretending to be ignorant or are you truly oblivious? You'll know once you go back and ask your mom this—is it fun to snatch someone else's husband?”
