Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan)

Chapter 2270

Chapter 2270

Nestled beneath the winding mountain path was a quaint little river, where Estelle and Jonathan were busy catching fish. Jonathan, armed with a sturdy branch, had rolled up the sleeves of his button-down shirt, looking every bit the part of an adventurer.

Estelle, already boasting a catch of four or five, waved over her shoulder, "Fancy some grilled fish?"

Sylvia let go of Gabriel's hand and hurried over, surprised, "There are fish in the river?"

"Plenty, and they're huge!" Estelle showed off the fish she had corralled into a small pool.

Gabriel chuckled, "We don't have any gear, how do you plan to grill them?"

"You've got a lighter, right? That and some kindling is all we need!" Estelle's face, splattered with river water, glistened like freshly fallen snow, her eyes sparkling.

Jonathan tossed aside his branch, scanning the area before instructing Estelle, "Stay here, I'll gather some wood!"

He then strode towards the hillside.

"I'll come with you!" Gabriel followed, his expression serene, "You really spoil her!"

The idea of grilling fish had swiftly turned into a quest for firewood, a sight sure to astonish anyone from the Lamont Group who knew their CEO as a figure of authority rather than a man scavenging for kindling in the mountains.

Jonathan smiled softly, "Her happiness is my happiness. In a way, I'm indulging myself too."

Gabriel smirked, uncommitted.

Navigating the rocky terrain with ease, Jonathan spoke in a steady tone, "You're the same with her, aren't you?"

Gabriel paused, glancing towards the riverbank where Sylvia was watching Estelle fish, a turbulent mix of emotions hidden in his gaze, but he remained silent.

While Jonathan collected firewood, Estelle was by the riverbank, skillfully preparing the fish with a sharp rock-scaling, gutting, and cleaning with practiced ease.

Sylvia, having removed her cozy

sweater, squatted by the river to try her hand at the task. Her

movements were less practiced than Estelle's, but she was calm and composed, a stark contrast to her delicate features and demeanor.

Estelle raised an eyebrow, "I didn't peg you for the outdoorsy type!"

"Normally, I'm not. Working under your brother meant I barely lifted a finger for such tasks," Sylvia laughed at herself before her expression brightened, "But then I started traveling the world, sometimes camping out in the wild, and

learned a thing or two about survival."

Estelle grinned, "That's pretty impressive!"

Sylvia chuckled, "Maybe to others, but I wouldn't dare show off in front of you."

As they bantered, they finished cleaning the fish and laid them out on a flat rock.

Across the river, the vibrant blooms

of red maples stood out against a backdrop of bamboo, the breeze

carrying petals into the gently flowing stream, creating a

picturesque scene of serene beauty.

Sylvia sat down on a rock, her gaze appreciative, "It's beautiful here, makes you never want to leave!"

Estelle's reply held a double meaning, "Then don't leave!"

Sylvia paused, turning to Estelle with a silent laugh.

Soon after, Jonathan and Gabriel returned, each bearing a bundle of dry branches, which they dropped to the ground.

Gabriel expertly set up the fire, using dried grass to ignite the kindling before assembling a makeshift grill for the fish that Estelle and Sylvia had prepared.

Noticing Estelle's hands reddened from the cold river water, Jonathan took them in his, warming them, "You could have waited for me, no hurry." "It's okay." Estelle's smile was tranquil and warm.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Gabriel turned to Sylvia, noticing her similarly chilled hands, and offered, "Come here, let me show you how to add the wood!"

Sylvia approached, a playful gleam in her eyes, "Is there a special technique to it?"
