Everyone seemed to be picking a fight with her lately!
She tried to maintain her composure, "You two have fun, I'm heading back!"
Neither Henson nor Norah said a word.
Yvonne walked away, feeling utterly bored and alone.
Henson approached Norah, asking, "What did she want with you?"
Norah replied coldly, "She wanted me to beg Jonathan to let her stay in Jefferson City."
Henson frowned, "You didn't agree, did you?"
"Do I look that foolish to you?" Norah retorted, clearly unamused.
Henson looked serious, "Your smarts are like Estelle playing video games."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Norah asked, genuinely curious.
"Being a noob is the norm, occasionally you'll play well, but you never make it to the end."
Norah, feeling mocked, tried to tickle Henson in retaliation, but he dodged and ran away.
After they both left, Norah didn't feel like going back. She was confused, leaning against the railing, trying to touch the water's surface with her hands. "Acting like a child at your age?"
A husky, deep voice suddenly came from behind. Norah jumped, almost tumbling headfirst over the railing.
She gripped the railing, turning her head to look back. Her face, flushed from leaning over, was adorable with eyes shimmering with moisture.
Xavier stood a few meters away, watching her calmly.
Norah, a bit nervous, finally managed to say, "Why didn't you reply to my message?"
"Hmm?" Xavier raised an eyebrow.
"I sent you a message this morning, why didn't you reply?" Norah repeated.
Xavier took out his phone, only then noticing Norah's message asking where he was.
"I got so many messages over the holidays, I missed yours," he explained calmly.
Norah accepted his explanation, her eyes flickering slightly, "So, you're Grandpa Hanson's son."
"Sorry, I never mentioned it," Xavier apologized.
Norah shook her head, smiling, "It's okay, I never asked."
Xavier moved to stand beside her, watching the night view, "Now you know why I can't be with you, right? Technically, you should be calling
uncle'."
།
"What's the big deal with 'uncle'?" Norah shrugged, undeterred, "It's not like we're related by blood. Estelle used to call Jonathan 'uncle, and look at them now!"
"It's different," Xavier said.
Norah looked down, muttering, "It's not different at all."
"You're really stubborn!" Xavier frowned.
Taking his words as a compliment, Norah boasted, "If I wasn't this determined, how would I ever win you over?" Xavier just sighed.

Looking up at the stars, she murmured, "I've missed you so much. Have you missed me, even just a little, these past few days?"
Xavier, with his handsome, carefree features, replied softly, "We agreed to be just friends, not to talk about feelings."
Norah bit her lip, "Then, as a friend, have you missed me?"
