Her Precious Baby

Chapter 173

Chapter 173

“Wow, it’s beautiful!” Angeline entered the room and patted Floretta’s head dotingly. “You’re a cute girl, Floretta. It will definitely look lovely on you when you carry it.”

Floretta lowered her head and stuck out her tongue bashfully. “Daddy said the same thing. I’ll bring it to school tomorrow, then.”

After a few minutes, Evander was done assembling the toy. He handed it to Floretta and said seriously, “It’s getting late. Follow Francesca and go back to your room to sleep.”

Since Floretta was satisfied as she had obtained a new toy that night, she didn’t throw a fit and left with Francesca obediently.

Angeline was slightly worried. “Francesca can’t bathe Floretta on her own. I should go help her.”

Looking concerned, she was about to follow Francesca and Floretta when the door slammed shut right in front of her face.

Then she was pulled into a warm embrace by the man behind her.

“Aren’t you being too attentive to Floretta? I’m your boyfriend, Angeline!” A magnetic voice sounded right beside her ears as if a mesmerizing hand was pulling on her heartstring.

Angeline remained in her spot and felt a tingling sensation throughout her body. She kept quiet for a moment before chuckling. “You’re already an adult, yet you’re jealous of a little child? Not to mention that she’s your daughter! Shouldn’t you be glad that I’m treating your daughter well?”

“You’re such a sweet-talker,” said Evander.

He kissed her earlobes repeatedly and gradually made his way down to her irresistible swan-like neck.

Angeline’s throat went dry at Evander’s seduction. Just when she was about to give in and surrender herself to him, he let go of her abruptly and took a few steps back.

“Come here. I have a gift for you,” he said.

A gift? He prepared one for me as well?

Angeline’s misty eyes were filled with confusion as she watched him take out a red velvet gift box with a black silk ribbon tied around it.

He opened the lid with his slender and defined fingers. Inside the gift box was a set of sapphire jewelry.

The eye-catching jewelry glimmered gloriously under the light. One could easily tell it was invaluable.

Even Angeline—who had been the spokesperson for various pieces of jewelry—was enchanted by its gorgeousness. She had seen nothing as beautiful as this set of jewelry before.

“This is?”

“This is known as the Heart of the Ocean, and there is only one set in the entire world.” Evander held Angeline’s hand and led her to the mirror. He went behind her and took out the necklace from the box, then put it on her. “It looks perfect on you,” he complimented her gently, his eyes filled with praise.

He wasn’t exaggerating at all. The necklace complemented her snow-white neck, accentuating her slender features and enhancing her elegance.

Angeline was also pleased with the gift. Feeling flattered, she caressed the necklace lightly to feel the texture of the sapphire on her fingertips. This is such an expensive necklace. I don’t think I should accept it.

She was just about to return the necklace to Evander when she noticed the logo on the gift box. It was a brand she knew all too well. “These are from Majestic Elite Jewelry?”

Evander nodded and replied nonchalantly, “Mm-hmm. This brand is established and reputable. Mr. Will —the brand’s jewelry designer—loves releasing limited edition pieces of jewelry.”

Angeline’s mind began buzzing, and her heart started throbbing.

She was agitated as the man who had slept with her five years ago had left a ring behind. It was the same brand as this necklace. Not long ago, she had brought the ring to a jewelry shop to have it investigated and hadn’t gotten it back.

Angeline gulped. She didn’t know what came over her when she asked instinctively, “Did you buy a ring from this brand five years ago?”

Evander frowned slightly and responded curiously, “How do you know?”

“So you did?”

“Yeah, but I accidentally lost it a long time ago.”

Angeline clenched her fists and felt a gush of blood rushing to her head. In that instant, her breath grew hasty.

If that’s the case, does this mean Evander is most likely the man who sexually violated me five years ago? Is he the man whom I hated to the bone? No. I can’t believe it.

“What’s wrong, Angeline?” Evander looked at her worriedly and intuitively took a step forward. “Are you feeling unwell? Or is there something wrong with the necklace?”

His questions were too much for Angeline currently, and she couldn’t handle the blow from the truth she had just learned. She backed away and replied, “I’m fine.”

She tried her best to suppress the emotions stirring up within her and pretended to look calm, but her voice was unusually raspy as she said, “I’ll go check on Floretta. You should get some early rest. Don’t mind me.”

With that, Angeline stormed out from the room frantically.

It wasn’t a stretch to say she was fleeing from the room with how panicked she seemed when she left.

Evander watched her escape from the room and noticed there was something odd going on. It was impossible for an intelligent man like him to believe her words.

His expression grew darker as he recalled the situation carefully and realized Angeline’s mood changed when he spoke of the ring.

He didn’t know what happened to the ring after losing it, and he didn’t remember where he left it as well. However, he had sent someone to look for it because it was his favorite at that time.

Yet, the search was to no avail. His only option was to end the pursuit.

Did Angeline pick it up back then? So what if she did? What could that mean? Why was she so stirred up? Unless she has been hiding something from me.

After rushing out of Evander’s room and escaping his overbearing presence, Angeline panted heavily while supporting herself against the wall.

Her body was trembling out of fear, and she felt as if her blood was frozen at that moment.

Why? I’ve always tried guessing who the man I hated could be. However, never in my life had I expected him to be Evander—the man whom I just confessed to and got into a serious relationship with.

“Mommy!” All of a sudden, a clear voice sounded.

Angeline’s body stiffened. She turned around in a daze and looked at Floretta, who had just taken a shower and was running toward her.

The little girl was wearing a pink bathrobe, and her dark, long hair cascaded down her shoulders. She looked like a mermaid. Angeline looked at the girl’s facial features and realized they looked similar to her own. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

Angeline felt tears prickling in her eyes, especially when she heard Floretta addressing her as Mommy.

Come to think of it, Floretta’s current age is similar to the child I gave birth to a few years ago. If Evander really is that man, does that mean Floretta is my biological daughter? No wonder he never answered me directly whenever I asked him about Floretta’s biological mother.

Francesca rushed toward Floretta and corrected, “Ms. Floretta, you can’t simply call someone Mommy. Ms. Sorelle isn’t your mommy, all right?”
