Chapter 830 Weighing the Gains and Losses
Chapter 830 Weighing the Gains and Losses
Vanessa became even more worried as she saw Luke crying as well. She was guessing that the two
kids might have been bullied at school or criticized by their teachers.
Just then Vanessa noticed a situation where the two people in front of her seemed to be too silent.
They were still indifferent despite knowing that the kids were crying and didn't show any worry, so that
proved that they knew the reason.
And the reason wasn't the school she was thinking of.
"Tell me what is going on."
Vanessa continued to ask Megan but didn't ask Brian and her sister because she knew very well that
they wouldn't say a word even if she asked.
"I want to be with Mom and Dad, and I want Dad to stay with us at Mom's house tonight. But Mom
didn't agree, she said Dad has to go home to be with grandpa. Grandpa needs company, but me and
my brother need company too."
Even though Megan was crying, it didn't affect her eloquent play, she was going to cry and be
capricious for once.
"How much time do we get to spend with our parents? Why can't they just spend time with us? They're
busy all day, they're all back but they don't spend time with us."
Megan was still whining incessantly, the only way to get the adults' attention. Even if Mom and Dad
insisted, Vanessa might offer help.
What Megan said was very clear, but Vanessa could only feel sorry for the two kids and could not do
anything about it.
Seeing that Vanessa didn't say anything, Megan guessed that she was in cahoots with her mother.
So she increased her crying volume and continued to pester Vanessa.
"Aunt Vanessa, can't we spend with tonight with Mom and Dad? Please help us, ok? We'll be with mom
and dad tonight, just for one night, okay?"
Megan burst into tears, and her pleading voice even made Vanessa's heart ache.
"Fine, I will tell your Dad to stay at our house tonight. The four of you can play as long as you want."
Vanessa's heart ached for Megan and she had no choice but to take the liberty of agreeing to Megan.
But Winnie raised an objection.
"Vanessa, you can't let the children be so willful, you can't let her get into this habit of having everything
when she cries."
"Sister, these two kids are not willful. They know better than other kids in whatever respect, and such a
small request won't turn into a habit."
"Besides, you can't blame the kids for the distress you've caused them. Other kids aren't as good and
understanding as them, but other people's kids have homes."
"You can't give them a home, can't they be willful for once?"
Vanessa retorted that the point wasn't to develop bad habits, but that Brian had made everything
worse.
"Brian, am I right?"
Vanessa asked Brian, in her opinion, the crux of the matter was not her sister, but Brian.
He didn't take his sister seriously, and he didn't put the happiness of his two kids at a premium. It was
all his family and his company in his mind. Otherwise the children would not have had the aggravation
of today.
"Yes, Vanessa, you're right. This is all my fault, it has nothing to do with your sister. I'm sorry for the two
kids and I'm sorry for your sister."
Brian had to admit it, and there was no excuse to deny it. Everything was on him, and everyone's pain
was caused by him. And Megan and Luke's tears were caused by him.
Not only was he an unfit man but also an unfit father, he had gained nothing but the happiness of his
kids and the loss of Winnie.
Was this why Winnie had asked him to weigh the gains and losses?
"I'll change it, definitely ......"
Just as Brian was assuring her, Winnie interrupted him.
"You're not wrong, and you're not sorry to anyone. A person has a way of life, so of course they look at
things differently."
"Anyway, that's the way it is, so let's move on."
Winnie was hinting to Brian that it was impossible for them to work out. No matter what he promised,
Winnie felt that it was an expectation for the children. Yet this expectation would eventually fall short
and would be harmful to the children once again.
"Don't go far, you two, now talk about tonight's events."
"Tonight you guys will stay with the kids. Brian, our house is not as big as yours, so you can sleep on
the couch in the living room."
Vanessa made her decision for the sake of the kids, and really couldn't let the children be sad. But she
also had to remind Brian to keep his distance from her sister.
"I'll do whatever you say, Vanessa, as long as the kids don’t cry."
Brian was definitely going to say yes, and was joyful secretly.
Although Winnie's reminder just now made him helpless, he believed that time could prove everything,
and time could change everything. As long as he didn't give up, Winnie would see his sincerity and
they would give the children a complete home.
"Great, great, thank you, Aunt."
Megan was happy, but still cried and thanked her aunt.
This opportunity had been a luxury for her and her brother, and she even felt moved to the point that
her tears fell even harder.
Luke was also happy, but Luke had to take the opportunity to say one thing.
"Aunt, can you promise us one more thing?"
"Whatever it is, I will."
Vanessa looked at Luke pitifully and agreed without thinking about it.
But after the words were finished, he was a bit unsure, and only then did she opened her mouth and
asked Luke.
"What is it?"
"Can we go to grandpa's house with mom for the Thanksgiving Day?"
Luke didn't dare to be happy too soon, just in case his aunt would reject it.
"Well ......"
Vanessa was embarrassed and regretted that she had agreed so quickly.
"Aunt, we don't have Great Grandpa and the others on the suburbs. And Grandpa has graciously
invited you and Mom, so you and Mom will go to Grandpa's together."
Seeing Vanessa hesitated, Megan wiped her tears away and continued to plead.
"Your mother and I are outsiders, so it doesn't seem appropriate to go to your house. Thanksgiving Day
is a day of reunion, your Great Grandpa is old and your family should all go to be with him."
"Me and your mom we'll be fine with the two of us together."
Vanessa seemed to have a psychological shadow about going to the suburbs, especially about Felix
and Thomas.
The contempt their family had given her and her sister had made her mentally uncomfortable until now.
They would not have to make a fool of themselves.
"Aunt, Great Grandpa has company, so it is ok we don’t go to his house. You and mom don't count as a
reunion only when you have me and my sister."
"If my sister and I go home to be with you, Dad and Grandpa will have no one to be with. If my sister
and I stay with Dad and Grandpa, you and Mom will have no one to stay with."
"Aunt, don't make it hard for me and my sister, okay? Let’s spend the Thanksgiving together, okay?"
Luke rarely said so much, but his mother had pushed the problem onto his aunt, and he had to
convince his aunt.
Once again, Vanessa was in a difficult position, and she had to face it once again.
To be honest, she didn't want to see the Bennet family from the bottom of her heart, even Brian who
was driving in front of her, she didn't want to see him. The moment she saw them she would remember
the hurt her sister had suffered, and she would remember the disdainful and cold eyes of Thomas and NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
his wife.
All of the Bennet family was like a fish spike in her throat, making her ache with disgust but unable to
swallow.
But the children had said so, and she couldn't bear to hurt them, not wanting them to have to make the
hard choice between mom and dad.
"Sis, do you think we'll go?"
Vanessa didn't know what to do, so she could only seek Winnie's advice.
Winnie didn't know what to do wither, otherwise she would have made her decision long ago.
"Vanessa, if you don't want to go, don't go, I will be home with you. Luke, Megan, you stay with
grandpa and dad. Aunt and I don't have any opinion and won't make it difficult for you."
Winnie still didn't want to go, although Luke said Felix and Thomas would not be there, it was
Thanksgiving. If the Bennet family didn't get to reunite because of her and Vanessa, she might be
blamed. Invariably, she had once again become the culprit.
"Mom, you and Aunt Vanessa are fine with it, but my brother and I don't feel good. Grandaunt is away
this year, and it's just the two of you for the holidays, Megan and I just won't be happy with Grandpa
and Dad."
Megan spoke the truth, for they had experienced such a situation, and they could not get happy.
"Mom, don't think so much, just think about me and Megan, don't think about anyone else. Even if
something unpleasant happens, Megan and I are happy as long as you and Aunt are there."
Luke did not speak a lot, but he had his points.
Winnie and Vanessa had heard him clearly, that is, even if there was aggression, as long as the kids
were happy, it was worth it for them to go.
"Mom, Aunt, you don't have to worry, as long as you have Dad, you will be ok."
Once again, Luke assured in his dad's name that his dad had done a bad job before, but now he
trusted his dad that he would protect his mother and aunt.
"Luke, Mom and I will be there to spend the holidays with you."
Vanessa said, Luke’s works made her heart ache. It was just some aggravation, but she was willing to
do it for the kids’ happiness.
"Thank you, Aunt."
"Thank you, Aunt."
The two kids hurried to thank Vanessa, afraid that Vanessa would go back on her words.
Megan laughed happily, tears of laughter coming out of her eyes.
It was the most rewarding day for her and her brother, as long as the outcome was good, they were
happy.
In the hospital.
Leo's leg was still immobile, but the pain had decreased so much in the past two days that he no longer
needed medication to control it.
"Come here."
Leo called out to Emily.
"What for?"
Emily didn't know what Leo was up to and asked while walking to Leo's hospital bed.
"Sit."
Leo patted the seat beside him, allowing Emily to sit beside him.
"What's wrong?"
Emily asked, but obediently sat on the edge of the bed.
