Hiding The Twins From Their Billionaire Father

Chapter 159 The Darkest Day Of My Life

Kara's breath secretly hitched. After a few blinks, she curled up her lips again. "Yes, he didn't have time

to apologize. But, if you are willing to forgive him, he can still go to heaven."

"I want to forgive Great Grandpa."

"Yeah, I want too."

Kara lifted the corners of her lips a little higher. "Great Grandpa must be very happy to have such kind-

hearted great-grandchildren like you."

"Great Grandpa knows that we love him with all our hearts?" Emily blinked expectantly.

"Yes." Kara stroked her daughter's cheek. "Great Grandpa can always see you from above. Therefore,

keep being good children. Make him proud."

"Okay, Mommy," Louis answered quickly.

Kara's hand moved to rub her son's head. "Good. Now, don't think about anything else. Sleep. You

have to take care of your health so you can continue working tomorrow. You want to make Great

Grandpa proud, right?"

Louis and Emily nodded in unison. After fixing their position on the bed, they closed their eyes. Kara

pulled their blankets up and gave them good night kisses.

"Sweet dreams, Little Angels."

Since their eyes were already heavy, the twins instantly fell asleep. Silently, Kara turned around. Only

then did she realize that Frank was peeking at the door.

"Hey ...." Kara closed the door behind her back and rubbed Frank's arm. "How are you? Any better?"

"They’re asleep?" Frank whispered softly. Kara had never seen his face that tired.

"Yes." Kara managed a smile.

Suddenly, Frank hugged her. With his eyes closed, he took a deep breath. Only Kara's scent could

calm him now.

"This is one of the darkest days of my life. Just like the day my father died."

Kara rubbed his back. "It's been a hard day. You must be very tired. Why don't you sleep too?"

Frank looked at Kara with sad eyes. "Do you want to accompany me to sleep?"

The corners of Kara's lips lifted slightly. "I never thought that Frank Harper would be this spoiled."

Frank forced a smile, but failed. "Grandpa was like a parent to me. Now that he's gone, I only have you.

I hope you don't mind if I lean on your shoulder."

"I don't mind. But you have to remember. You also have Jeremy and the twins."

Two small wrinkles appeared on the bridge of Frank's nose. "It's strange if I lean on Jeremy, while the

kids ... they're still too small. We can’t let them support my big head. So, leaning on you is the only

option I have."

Kara smiled slightly. After grabbing Frank's finger, she took a step forward. "Let’s go to your room."

Unexpectedly, Frank refused to move. Kara looked at him in confusion. "What is it?"

Frank's breathing became heavy again. "I tried to sleep earlier, but I couldn't."

Kara's brows furrowed deeper. Didn't Frank just agree to sleep with her? "I will accompany you. Don't

be afraid."

However, Frank still shook his head. "My room … there are too many traces of Grandpa in there. Even

though I close my eyes, the scent of my room reminds me of him."

As he smiled bitterly, his gaze turned dreamy. "When I was a teen, he often rummaged my room. After I

grew up, he often barged into it to give me long lectures. I often secretly cursed at his behavior, hoping

he would quickly get out of the room. Who would have thought, now I hope he comes instead."

Frank's tears welled up again. Before his sadness spilled over, Kara quickly led him. "Then sleep in my

room."

Frank didn't answer. He just walked along and caught his breath. When he arrived at the bed, he lay

down like a child resting his head on his mother's shoulder. Even though he closed his eyes, he could

still see Rowan.

Meanwhile, Jeremy was sitting on the back porch. From the chair beside, Vivian stared at him

unblinkingly.

"What do you want to talk about, Ma’am? It's getting late. The gates must be locked and you must go

home soon." Jeremy kept staring at the garden. He didn't seem interested in his mother.

“First,” Vivian reached out a hesitant hand to Jeremy's shoulder, “I wanted to express my condolences

for your grandfather's death.” Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.

Jeremy glanced at her fingers. His hands which were resting on his lap suddenly clenched into fists.

Something was stirring in his heart, something he didn't understand.

“Sorry, Ma'am.” He turned back to face the garden. “My relationship with Rowan Harper is only about

work. I respect him because he is my brother's grandfather. Not my grandfather.”

Vivian swallowed hard. She actually wanted to confirm that Rowan was Jeremy's grandfather too.

However, common sense restrained her.

"You know what?" Vivian lowered her hands and looked at the garden lights. Her breath was faint.

“Seeing Rowan's terrible death, I was scared.”

Not hearing a continuation, Jeremy glanced over. Vivian's shoulders looked heavy. Her face was not as

bright as usual. "Scared of what?"

“I'm scared that it turns out ... my revenge would be in vain. I've sacrificed too many things. My dreams,

my freedom, my happiness.” Vivian turned her head with sorrowful eyes. "My son."

“Is that so?” Vivian's eyebrows rose to their maximum. After a few blinks, she took a deep breath.

“Thank goodness.”

“You relieve now?” Jeremy tried to keep his tone even. However, his annoyance was too thick.

While Vivian was nodding, Jeremy glanced again. There was a small change in her eyes.

“You expect forgiveness from me?”

Vivian's breath was caught in her throat. She did no movement other than blinking. "Yes, I intend to

apologize tonight. Do you mind?"

Jeremy snorted slightly. "Apologizing is your right, but forgiving is my right."

Vivian's shoulders became heavy again. Her fingers squeezed together on her lap. "Actually, there was

something else that scared me about attending Rowan Harper's funeral.”

When Jeremy looked back at her, she whispered, “I'm afraid of experiencing similar thing. The child I

dumped is reluctant to forgive me. I face death alone, without him beside me. I'm really scared to

imagine it."

Suddenly, Vivian looked down. Her breathing shortened and her shoulders trembled. When her face

lifted again, a teardrop rolled down her cheek.
