His Ex Wife Is A Billionaire

Chapter 142

Chapter 142

In the hospital room, Una was sitting by the bed, comforting Acacia.

“Frederic pulled a lot of strings and spent a ton of cash to get Jim to help Elspeth dodge the prosecutors. It’s pretty clear that he cares a lot about Elspeth. With her help, your marriage to Thaddeus is basically a done deal! Plus, he’s been visiting you every chance he gets these past few days. He’s been super nice when he talks to you, your relationship has clearly improved!”

Una was all smiles, feeling pretty confident that she was going to be Thaddeus’s mother–in–law, “You know Thaddeus better than I do. If he was really over you, why would he even bother visiting you in the hospital?”

“Even though what you’re saying makes sense, I still can’t help but feel uneasy because of the recent events.”

As Acacia remembered the cold look in Thaddeus’s eyes, she couldn’t help but feel a shiver of fear down to her spine, “Even though he’s been with me these past few days, taking really good care of me, I can’t shake the feeling that he’s attitude towards me has changed.”

“Ainight, stop scaring yourself.”

Just then, the door to the room opened and Thaddeus walked in.

Acadia quickly put on a weak front, her eyes welled up with tears as she called out, “Thad.”

As Thaddeus emotionlessly walked towards her and she reached out her hand, thinking she could touch him, but he suddenly stopped.

With her hand awkwardly hanging in the air and a blush on her pale cheeks, Acacia was embarra**ed.

“I have to go back to the office to handle some things. I’ll come see you tonight,” Thaddeus’s tone was still gentle, his eyes deep, hiding any indication of what he was thinking.

“Thad, I’m sorry.”

Tears streamed down Acacia’s face as she looked at him weakly and wanted to show him that she was truly ashamed of her doing, “I’ve caused you so much trouble, it’s all my

fault”

“Don’t think too much, just rest.”

With that. Thaddeus turned around and left the room.

Acacia clutched the corner of the blanket tightly, there were so many things she wanted to share with him. But Thaddeus at that time was not the same person who used to dote on her and cater to her every whim.

Sometimes, the way he looked at her even made her scared.

So, she shot Una a look. Una nodded and quickly followed him out.

“Uh. Mr. Thaddeus,”

Thaddeus stopped in his tracks, looking coldly at Una as he asked, “What is it?”

“You’ve seen Acacia’s condition these past few days. She’s more lucid when you’re around, but when you’re not, she’s practically being tortured by depression. Acacia has suffered so much abroad, she’s always been looking forward to coming back to you. If you abandon her now, my daughter’s future will be ruined!” Una took out a handkerchief

to wipe her tears.

Tl take responsibility for Acacia’s illness, after all, she did save my life once.”

With that Thaddeus turned around and this time actually left the room.

Una stood where she was, thinking about what he had just said, a chill ran down her spine. Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

Over the next few days, Evadne was incredibly busy at the hotel, calling for high–level meetings every day, trying to pull off Ada Ang’s wedding plan perfectly.

One day, while Evadne was in a heated discussion with the project team, Emeric called.

“Emeric, I’m busy right now, what’s up?” Evadne turned her head, wedging the phone between her cheek and shoulder, her hands still flipping through documents.

Emeric? Emeric?!

The team, who were previously deep in discussion about the arrangement, immediately went quiet, not daring to make a sound as they didn’t quite understand what they were talking about.

This was their untouchable, top–level boss!

It’s time” Emeric’s voice was low, cryptically saying just one sentence.

“What?” Evadne was completely taken aback.

it’s timet Go on your blind date!”

Emeric suddenly yelled, causing Evadne to frown and move her phone away a bit.

Everyone in the room heard Emeric’s words loud and clear; their eyes popping out of their heads in shock.

They thought to themselves. “No way! Does our beautiful, wealthy, and talented President Ashbourne have marriage troubles? Who is she being forced to marry? Do the rest of us even stand a chance?”

“Emeric, I’m in a meeting. Let’s talk about this useless stuff later,” Evadne said, rubbing her temple in annoyance as she wanted to avoid this awkwardness in front of the staff.

“Useless stuff? You think your marriage is useless stuff?”

Emeric said sternly, “I don’t feel like talking about this anymore. So, I’ll ask you this, do you want to be the CEO of the K Group, is that important?”

Evadne thought to herself, “Emeric! You sneaky bastard, trying to use my job to threaten me! Did Thaddeus teach you these underhanded tactics?”

“Fine, I’ll go on the blind date, but not today. I have important meetings to attend to,” Evadne tried to stall as much as possible, looking for excuses to get out of that situation.

“Hmph, well, you can’t escape it.”

During the second half of the meeting, everyone trod lightly, worried about angering Evadne and getting fired on the spot.

After the meeting, Evadne returned to her office, collapsing onto the couch, clearly exhausted.

14:53

Jason came in with a coffee, asking worriedly. “Ms. Evadne, is there a problem with the project?”

“Emeric, that heartless guy!”

Evadne lay on the couch, slapping the cushion in frustration as she continued to shit talk about him, “I cleaned up the mess at the hotel and helped the K Group land a big project. Not only does he not

appreciate me, but he’s also now bringing up this blind date business! I wonder if Elvis is still hiring, maybe I should become a secret agent and get away from Emeric!”

“Ms. Evadne, I know you’re the most dutiful. You know that the chairman is getting old and has been stepping back in the company, he needs his children by his side. You won’t run away like you did before, you’ll definitely stay with the Ashbourne family, stay with the chairman.”

Jason’s eyes were full of tender laughter as he put down the coffee and sat next to Evadne and continued to say, “Plus, K Group’s ambitions to grow in Elmsworth can’t go without your strategic guidance. The internal competition within the group is fierce, with the infighting never ending. I know what Chairman Emeric has been through over the years. Seriously, he’s under a lot of pressure. He doesn’t actually enjoy being the CEO, all his efforts are for you and the family.”

“Yeah. I know,” Evadne sighed lightly, casually kicked off her heels, and revealed her feet.

Jason’s throat tightened as he picked up the blanket, placed her feet on his lap, and then covered her slender calves with it, skillfully ma**aging them.

Aside from his mother, he had only ever been this caring towards Evadne.

“That’s why I want to take on this responsibility, to completely free Ca**ius, and more importantly, I think I have the ability to handle all these,” Evadne’s fatigue seemed to lessen as she squinted her watery eyes.

Evadne not only had the ability but was also a born go–getter.

If she hadn’t been chasing after Thaddeus, she would be the CEO of K Group by now, with her own empire.

Her life went sideway because of that man, so she needed to pick up the pace to catch up.

“Ms. Evadne, it might be good to meet that guy, you know, just to make friends. The Chairman didn’t demand that you must marry him. He’s just overly concerned about you,” Jason comforted her with his best efforts, but with a hint of jealousy in his heart.

Jason knew from the beginning that he was insignificant compared to all these people. How could Ms. Evadne, this noble flower, bloom just for him?

“You’re right, it’s just a blind date. Can’t be scarier than a battlefield!”

Evadne’s eyes sparkled with mischief as her feet moved actively under the blanket, making Jason’s heart race.

“Emeric has his strategy, and I have my plan.”

“Ms. Evadne, what new plan do you have?”

Evadne quickly got up and walked barefoot to the table.

Jason knew that a girl’s feet were important and shouldn’t get cold.

So, he hurriedly picked up her heels and followed her, kneeling on one knee and urging her gently, “Put your shoes on quickly, you’ll get sick if you catch a cold.”

Evadne lifted her foot for Jason to help her with her shoes, leaning her body on the large table, picking up a pen and paper and quickly jotting something down.

Soon, she presented a list in front of him, “Here, help me prepare all the items on the list within today.”

Jason took the list with a puzzled look, examined it carefully, and couldn’t help but laugh as he said, “You really are a cheeky one.”
