Chapter 155
Chapter 155
Everyone was gobsmacked and all eyes were on Una!
Everyone knew the cops wouldn’t be making such a big fuss and arresting someone without solid evidence.
So, it was pretty much a given that Una had hired a hitman to do some dirty work.
Staring at the cold handcuffs on her wrists, Una’s world was filled with a despairing darkness.
What the hell? How did this happen?
She made sure the hitman she hired was reliable. She paid a good chunk of money, and none of this happened domestically. How on earth did it get blown wide open?
“Una! Una!”
Mr. Stirling watched as Una was taken away by the cops, his heart pounding in fright. He hurried forward only to clutch his chest in pain; his vision blacked out, and he collapsed.
“Quick! Call an ambulance!” Pale as a ghost, Frederic quickly ordered people to carry the unconscious Mr. Stirling away.
Jareth was stunned and murmuring under his breath, “Holy shit, Una got busted for murder! This is the big story of the night!”
Thaddeus watched everything unfold with a poker face, not showing any intention to a**ist the Stirling group.
“You pay the price if you play with lives.” He said.
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Una was taken away by the cops.
As she pa**ed by Acacia, she gave her a tearful last glance.
And that glance almost broke Acacia.
“Don’t take her away! She didn’t kill anyone!” Acacia cried out, only to hear the sound of her dress sliding down.
Then, she felt a chill run through her body and gasps filled the room!
Her designer off–the–shoulder dress had slipped down due to sweat, leaving her in only a bandeau and underwear in front of everyone!
“Ah!” Acacia shrieked, shielding her chest with her arms in mortification.
Elspeth regretted organizing this birthday party for Acacia. It was too embarra**ing.
Meanwhile, Glynnis was sipping her wine and relishing in the drama from a corner. Wild with joy, she was grinning from ear to ear at Acacia’s downfall.
People were already sneaking out their phones to take photos.
“This body is nothing special, really. You made a good call breaking up with her.” Jareth commented lazily with a mocking gleam in his eyes.
Thaddeus felt like their decade–long friendship had turned into a cruel joke.
He lowered his head and turned to leave.
Acacia, in her despair, stood up and called out, “Thad!”
It turned out that she forgot she was still naked and exposed her entire body to everyone!
“Oh! Look at Acacia’s stomach! What are all those lines?!”
“Looks like stretch marks!”
“Those are definitely stretch marks! I’ve had two kids and I know what they look like!”
“Oh my God, she already has a kid and she’s still pretending. This woman is truly disgusting!”
“Poor Mr. Thaddeus, at least he dodged the bullet before marrying her!”
It was over.
Acacia’s dream of becoming the wife of a CEO and all her fantasies were shattered.
In the hallway. Thaddeus walked ahead with a heavy heart.
Jareth quietly accompanied him, wanting to say something but couldn’t.
“Do you think I’m pitiful, stupid, and laughable?” Thaddeus‘ voice was hoarse and wry.
Jareth shook his head seriously, “No. Thad, I’m your only friend, your best bro. No matter what happens, I won’t laugh at you. I just… feel sorry.”
‘Sorry…”
Thaddeus closed his eyes, erasing all memories of Acacia from his mind.
“There’s nothing to feel sorry about. It’s my fault for not seeing her clearly.”
“No, not that.”
Jareth sighed in pain, “It’s those three years when Evadne was married to you. If it wasn’t for Acacia, you two might have fallen in love. You could have been happy instead of at each other’s throats, right?”
Could have been happy…
Thaddeus stopped in his tracks, his eyes lost.
“Thaddeus, can we… not divorce? Because… I love you.” She used to say,
A sharp pain hit him, and he quickly leaned against the wall. His fingers were trembling as he clenched his fist. That suffocating pain he felt was unbearable.
Back then, when Evadne was crying and begging him not to divorce, he thought it was just her struggling to hold onto their marriage. He dismissed it and saw his marriage with Evadne as a cage he wanted to escape from.

Now he understood.
Evadne never wanted to trap him. Her last confession of love meant that she was putting down all her dignity and hoping to stay in the relationship.
She knew he never loved her.
So she tried her best to keep him, fearing that she would lose the right to love him after the divorce
“I saw that girl, she’s about three or four years old. This means Acacia was having an affair with George behind your back when she was in the country. But if I remember correctly, Acacia was still
pestering you at that time, making you feel that she was deeply in love with you, that she had to endure hardships in a foreign country just to wait for you. In fact, she had a lover behind your back.”
Thaddeus‘ heart ached so much it made his whole body tremble, it felt like even breathing would kill him.
“Acacia always had a lover, you were just one of them.”
Jareth stared at him deeply, “But in Evadne’s heart, there was only you. Do you remember the rainy night you went to her house? Do you know what she told me?”
Thaddeus looked at him with blank eyes, his forehead already soaked in sweat
“I tried to confess to her, but she firmly rejected me.” Jareth gave a bitter smile, “She said she won’t love anyone other than Thaddeus. And if she leaves Thaddeus, she won’t love anyone again.”
Thaddeus‘ pupils contracted sharply. He felt like he was brutally stabbed by a sharp sword, the pain making every nerve in his body convulse.
“Evadne, you said you won’t love anyone without me. So, you and I met not just three years ago. I’ve been in your life for a long time, is that it? I need an answer, Evache, I need a damn answer from you!”
Just then, Thaddeus‘ phone buzzed in his pocket. He fumbled to grab it Seeing Murray’s call, his mind raced with the possibility of something going wrong with Mr. Hamilton. He quickly picked up. “Mr. Murray, has something happened to Mr. Hamiltion?”
“Mr. Thaddeus! Mr. Hamiltion had a sudden stroke. You need to get your butt to the Elmsworth Third Hospital
“What?!” Thaddeus was suddenly on edge.
“But don’t freak out. Mr. Hamiltion has been moved from resuscitation to a regular ward. He’s more or less stable.
Mr. Murray said in a slightly panicky voice. “Thank heavens for Ms. Evadne. She gave Mr. Frederic some first aid, buying us precious time. If she didn’t well Mr. Hamition could have been in major trouble!”
A burning sensation spread across Thaddeus‘ cheeks. The sense of humiliation felt like numerous slaps on his face.Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
