His Ex Wife Is A Billionaire

Chapter 777

“Is it you?” Aaron and Lily were both staggered in shock!

The man before them was the same one who had battled with Lily last time, leaving her gravely wounded and abducting Marilla–the hitman!

Now he appeared again, his mere presence enough to send shivers down Lily’s spine, even though he stood motionless.

At this moment, Aaron’s eyes were wide with disbelief, fixed intently on Hans‘ familiar yet foreign face.

It was the spitting image of Hubery’s face.

“Just now, if you had taken your shot, taken out any one of them, you might’ve had a chance to catch up. Pity, you didn’t.”

Hans‘ eyes were frosty, his hands idly tucked in the pockets of his black leather jacket, his tone dripping with scorn for Aaron, “That’s why I’ve never had much respect for you cops. Even with the power to punish the wicked, you waver and second–guess, all to preserve your own skin. Now, you’re too late to catch up.”

“Who the hell are you?” Aaron’s forehead was beaded with sweat, his voice fierce.

“A dead man walking doesn’t benefit from knowing more.”

A cold glint passed through Hans‘ eyes and with a swift motion, he charged at Aaron!

“Lily! Go after them! And tell my sister and Thaddeus, Marilla’s in danger!”

Aaron shouted to Lily as he narrowly dodged Hans‘ lethal punch!

Lily nodded, her eyes filled with urgency. As much as she worried for

Aaron, sticking around would mean losing the kidnapper for good. And she couldn’t overpower this terrifying man; it would only hold them back!

Splitting up was the only shot at a sliver of hope!

However, just a few steps into her sprint, another figure in black, wearing a ski mask, blocked her path.

The silhouette suggested a woman.

“Get out of my way!” Lily’s eyes were bloodshot with desperation to save Marilla!

Lily had an old injury, but she still used her full strength, and her attack was fast and ruthless, whoosh!

But the woman was also very cunning. She dodged nimbly, using soft tricks to restrain Lily’s aggression.

Lily’s eyes were bloodthirsty and scarlet, and her killing heart suddenly appeared. She pulled out the folded dagger from behind her waist and

stabbed the woman in front of her without hesitation.

However, what she never expected was that the woman didn’t hide and just take this knife!

“Uh-!” She let out a painful whimper.

The knife pierced her collarbone half an inch down.

Just because the surrounding darkness had poor vision, otherwise it will hit her hard, and she was likely to die on the spot!

Lily’s pupils shrank fiercely.

She didn’t believe that this woman couldn’t dodge, and even if she couldn’t dodge, she wouldn’t be hurt so badly!

“Go. Wye’s abandoned old factory. The person you are looking for should be kidnapped there.”

The woman panted, but pushed her hard, “Go!”

Lily stared at her weak but bright eyes, nodded vigorously, got up and

ran away.

Meanwhile, Aaron and Hans exchanged blows furiously, but Aaron was quickly losing ground.

In his years as a cop, all the thugs he’d nabbed combined couldn’t match this one man’s prowess-a veritable god of war!

People usually tire the more they fight, but this guy seemed to get more energized, like he was on some kind of high!

“Ugh-!”

Hans‘ spinning kick sent Aaron tumbling to the ground.

Then, out of nowhere, Hans produced a gleaming military knife, its blade catching the dim light of the night with a sinister gleam.

As the man leaped forward, Aaron, sprawled on the ground, quickly drew his gun, gripping it firmly and aiming straight at his head,

“Don’t move!”

In that instant, Aaron lay on the ground with Hans kneeling over him, a sharp knife raised high, aimed straight at Aaron’s heart.

“Go ahead, shoot.”

Hans was unafraid, even smiling mockingly, “If you shoot, all your troubles disappear. Go on.”

Aaron was soaked in cold sweat, breathing hard, his usually steady hands trembling.

This man, when he smiled, it was as if Hubery’s face and laughter were right in front of him.

“You’ve missed your chance again. Goodbye, Mr. Officer.”

The smile on Hans‘ lips hadn’t even faded when his knife lunged towards Aaron’s chest.

“Hubery!”

With a shattered look of despair, Aaron couldn’t help but cry out.

The knife pierced through his jacket, the sharp, cold pain searing into his flesh.

Suddenly, it all came to a halt as if someone had hit the pause button.

Hans looked down at Aaron, whose face was filled with sorrow, his eyes empty, followed by an unprecedented wave of dizziness.

In the moment of Hans‘ distraction, Aaron fired.

His shot hit Hans‘ knife–wielding arm. The man didn’t utter a sound despite the severe pain, merely furrowing his brow and dropping the weapon to the ground.

Aaron wanted to apprehend him, but he was beaten so badly he could barely get up. He could only clutch the gun tightly in case his opponent retaliated.

But Hans didn’t make another move.

Instead, he picked up his weakened partner from the ground and disappeared into the woods.

All was silent, as if nothing had happened.

“Hubery, is it really you?”

Aaron murmured, pushing through the pain to get up and dialing the

police station, “Elmsworth amusement park, there’s been a kidnapping incident, we need backup!”

Hans and Elsie were both seriously injured, but neither spoke a word as they sat in the car.

The man drove one–handed, completely ignoring his bullet–wounded right arm, and said coldly to Elsie,

“You need a hospital.”

“The Velvet Haven has its own doctors, they can handle it,” Elsie was faint from blood loss, her mind drifting.

Hans glanced at her, “You held back.”

“What?” Elsie’s long eyelashes fluttered, her heart pounding.

“You know what I’m talking about.”

“I’ve said it before I couldn’t beat her. To be injured like this, and still be under suspicion?”

Elsie looked innocently aggrieved, adopting a defiant stance, “Tch, if he doubts me, he shouldn’t use me. I’ve had enough.”

“The more he doubts, the more he uses. The more you’re used, the more you’re exposed. Mr. Chambers is very cunning,” Hans was unusually talkative tonight.

The sting of the bullet was real, and it throbbed mercilessly. Desperate to distract himself from the pain, he chose to engage in conversation. Elsie’s heart hammered in her chest, but she forced herself to remain

calm, aiming her accusation straight at Hans,

“And what about you? Haven’t you been pulling your punches? You had a clear shot at Aaron. Why didn’t you take it?”

“There’s always a second shot, and a third,” Hans said, nonchalantly. “Avery expects me to risk my neck for him? He doesn’t deserve it. Only one person can command my life, and that’s Sir.”

As Hans spoke, the name “Hubery” echoed in his mind, stirring an unusual restlessness within him.

“Yeah, you’re Sir’s man. No need to lay down your life for Mr. Chambers.” Elsie let out a weary chuckle and closed her eyes in

exhaustion.

After a moment, she heard Hans‘ quiet voice, “I’m only concerned with whether the job gets done. As long as it’s done, I don’t care about the

rest.”

Elsie’s anxiety eased, and she whispered her gratitude,

“Thank you.”

After leaving the amusement park, Jareth immediately sent Dean to ensure the safety of April, a key witness.

Next, he called back to the Fairhaven family’s estate, only to learn that his grandfather had been missing along with his secretary since the previous night. With the situation being critical, and not yet hitting the 48–hour mark to report a disappearance, the estate was in utter chaos, awaiting Jareth’s instructions. Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

Jareth clenched his eyes shut, tormented.

The sliver of hope he harbored was shattered by the cruel hand of reality.

His grandfather was likely gone from this world.

Old grudges and fresh wounds surged in his heart. Now, more than ever, Jareth yearned to catch Gary, the remorseless murderer, to avenge both his grandfather and his father!

He decided to break the promise he had made to April.

Even if she sought revenge later by refusing to testify about his father’s death, she still had to serve as an eyewitness to Gary’s crime against his grandfather!

Just as Jareth steeled himself to call the authorities, Thaddeus‘ urgent call came through,

“Jareth! Marilla’s been kidnapped!”

A thunderous crash reverberated through Jareth’s mind, his already shattered heart sank into an abyss.

“Lily and Aaron are on it, tracking the kidnappers. They’re headed to Wye’s abandoned old factory. Evadne and I are on our way!”
