Chapter 43
Chapter 43
It was different handwriting and it looked like from a man.
“I will”
It replied the previous line.
Lauren’s fingertips suddenly itched, with subtle emotions drilling into the bottom of her heart. She
closed the book and took a sip
of water, calming herself down.
At this moment, Charlie walked in from outside the door. He was wearing a black suit with documents
in his hand. He walked
really fast as if there was something urgent and when he saw Lauren, he just nodded to her and then
quickly walked upstairs.
But suddenly he retreated and then stood beside Lauren, with his eyesight falling on the book placed
on the coffee table. Lauren explained softly, “Daphne is afraid that I will be bored, so she brought it for
me to kill time.”
Charlie ignored Lauren, and leaned down to pick up the book. Then he patted it carefully and put it in
his arms. It looked like he
cherished this book very much.
“I will ask Daphne to give you another book,” Charlie said and then walked upstairs.
Hearing Charlie’s voice, Daphne ran out of the kitchen immediately.
Charlie turned to Daphne and said, “Don’t touch this book in the future.”
Daphne nodded repeatedly and said, “I am sorry, Mr. Frank. I will never touch this book again.”
Lauren, who was sitting on the sofa, was a little embarrassed. Daphne just wanted to give this book to
her for killing time so Lauren felt sorry for Daphne. “It seemed that this book was very important to him,”
Lauren thought.
While Lauren was thinking whether she should apologize to Charlie, Charlie asked Daphne to clean up
the garage. “What’s wrong with the garage? I just went to clean up it this morning,” Daphne thought in
confusion. But since Mr. Frank said this, she would better go take a look.
When Daphne passed by Lauren, she said, “I’m sorry, Miss Bennett. I’ll bring you another book later.”
“It’s okay.” Lauren waved her hand to Daphne. Lauren remembered Charlie’s cold face and thought, “It
is better not to touch his
things.”
“Then help yourself,” Daphne pushed the fruit plate toward Lauren and said, “Mr.Frank probably come
back to get the documents and I heard that he had an important meeting today. So he won’t stay here
for a long time.”
Lauren just smiled and did not say anything.
After Daphne went to the garage, there was only Lauren in the living room. She raised her wrist and
looked at her watch. It was almost 12 o’clock but Leo still didn’t come back. Lauren felt a little bored.
So she unlocked her phone to search for the literature on the Internet, but as soon as she tool out her
phone, she heard a “bang”. Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
which startled her.
It was from upstairs!
Lauren raised her head and looked up worriedly, guessing if something had happened to Charlie. While
she was still hesitating whether to go upstairs, another ‘bang’ came, accompanied by Charlie’s moan.
So Lauren no longer hesitated and decisively got
upstairs.
