Chapter 2355
Chapter 2355
"Won't you feel guilty? You could save so many more people or do so much more. You could even
achieve the next medical breakthrough. If you live long enough, you'll be able to explore the mysteries
of the world," Yasmin asked in bafflement.
She wanted to live longer to see and learn more about the world.
Dominic sighed and shook his head. "What for? Isn't the world depressing?"
After taking a sip of water, he said, "Have we not seen enough of the horror of the world at our age?
Besides, how long are we supposed to live? Are we going to watch people around us die one by one
while we remain old?"
Shaking his head, he added, "I don't want to become an old monster.”
"Well, if there's a drug that can give you and your loved ones immortality, and you can live together
forever—"
Dominic burst out laughing as if he had heard something funny. "Are you nuts? Have you actually
imagined what that would be like? You, me, our family, and friends live forever?"
He was beside himself in tears. "You've got to be kidding me, right? How many people can the world
accommodate? If we don't die, we’ll continue to marry and have kids, who will then have their own
children, grandchildren, and so on. Just counting one family alone would be too many humans for this
planet to handle.”
Having never thought about this, Yasmin was stumped. "Then… We only use the drug for ourselves,"
she said after some pondering.
"Then we're back to square one. Are we just going to watch our loved ones die?" Dominic sighed. "This
is pointless.
"I feel that our world is beautiful because of the cycle of life. Even leaves wither and fall, turning into
compost that nurtures young plants. Why should human beings be any different? It's imperfections like
death and separation that make our world perfect," he said, his voice choked with emotion.
This was Dominic’s advice to Yasmin, but it was what he truly thought. Having treated so many patients
and lived for as long as he had, he had come to realize that what mattered most was to live an exciting
life. Death was not the end but was a necessary part of one's life.
Yasmin fell into deep thought. She did not like anyone trying to talk her into giving up achieving
immortality. However, all he did was to tell her to go easy on herself, which had never crossed her mind
before. His words were similar to Lily's.
She quietly wheeled herself toward the door and stopped there. She then turned around and asked Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
gently, "You do know who I am, right?"
"Yes, I do." Dominic nodded. "You're someone who has lost their way."
She smiled at him. "Well, whatever it is, thank you."
"Thank me? What for?" He laughed. "I should be the one thanking you for chatting with me for so long.
I was so terribly bored."
