Chapter 6: Additional Work
Chapter 6: Additional Work
I couldn't believe what I had just found out. Kiro has a sexual condition, which left me feeling shocked. But that doesn't change the fact that he did something wrong to me. I went to the bathroom in the maid's quarters and stayed there for a long time. I cried my heart out, feeling like there was nothing I could do. If I were to tell Madam and Miss Linda about what happened, I would lose my job, and they might try to give me money to keep quiet. But I really need this job to support myself. I cried and cried, and yesterday I bought different types of soap from the Convenience Store. I hoped that by using them, I could wash away the marks and kisses Kiro left on my body. In my anger and disgust, I brushed my hair with my fingers, trying to show how repulsed I was. I might not have much education, and I may not know about specific laws like the Republic Acts, but I do know that there are laws to protect people who have been abused. As I thought about it, I couldn't ignore the fact that Kiro himself is also a victim of his condition. It made me question my feelings towards him. "Listen, Lyka. You really need this job, okay? Losing it would be a huge problem because you didn't even go to school. No other place would hire you..." I said to myself, looking at my reflection in the bathroom mirror. "And losing your virginity or anything like that doesn't determine your worth as a woman, alright?" I continued to encourage and uplift myself. Even though I still felt pain in my private area, I had to get used to it and walk normally so that no one would suspect anything. Feeling frustrated, I let out a sigh and muttered, "This feels useless!" I continued with my bath, spending more time in the bathroom to let my tears dry. When I finally stepped out of the bathroom, I went back to our room to change into my maid's uniform. It was just another day for me, the second day of working as a maid in Gustavo's mansion. As I entered the kitchen, Joday and Doday greeted me. Doday tried to say ‘hello’, but I refused to talk to her. I still felt disappointed with what they had done. They knew that only Miss Linda was allowed to go to Kiro's room, yet they sent me instead. I understood that they didn't know about Kiro's condition,
but they were partly responsible for the suffering I was going through. "Good morning, Lyka," Miss Linda greeted me. I remembered how worried and concerned she was for me yesterday. I smiled and hugged her. "Good morning, Miss," I greeted her back. "Oh, what's the hug for? You're really special, Lyka. How was your sleep?" she asked. I thought for a moment before answering, "Um, I'm not sure if I had a good or bad sleep, Miss…." She frowned at my response. I smiled and added, "Do you want to know why, Miss Linda?" "Why?" she asked. "Because I was sleeping! Haha! You see, I can't tell if it was good or bad because I was actually asleep!" I chuckled. I don't know why, but I felt comfortable joking around with her. She laughed with me and said, "You're such a kid! That made me laugh!" I smiled at her. It's funny how I can still be happy and make someone else happy with my jokes. "Alright, let's get to work, Lyka," she said. Miss Linda was very professional when it came to work, and I nodded in agreement. "We're going to cook bacon, eggs, and hotdogs for breakfast, the usual morning meal," she explained. Together with Joday and Doday, we started preparing the usual breakfast. While I was whisking the eggs, Joday came closer and whispered to me. "Hey, Lyka." I looked at her with an expression that wasn't my usual self. I gave her a bored and uninterested look. "Stop being rude. That look doesn't suit you at all," she said. "Tss, if you're only here to say mean things to me, then get out of my sight, Joday. Unfortunately, I'm not in my usual 'kind' mood right now," I replied flatly and continued with my task. I heard her sigh. "Okay, okay. You can be rude to me, but leave Doday alone, okay? Talk to her. I was the one who sent you to Kiro's room yesterday, so don't take it out on her." I didn't respond to her comment.
"Why are you treating us like this? What happened yesterday? We just asked you to go to Kiro's room, so why are you acting like we did something wrong to you? Actually, you're lucky because you probably got to see Kiro's face. Unlike me and Doday, we haven't seen him at all," Joday questioned, trying to understand my behavior. Her words caught my attention. What? They hadn't seen Kiro's face? Miss Linda had mentioned that she was the only one allowed to go into his room, and Joday and Doday didn't know about his condition of Satyriasis. And now, they hadn’t seen his face? As if his condition is contagious…. Suddenly, I recalled his face. He had a perfectly defined jawline, thin lips, a nose resembling those famous actors on TV, and captivating brown eyes. I brushed off my admiration for his appearance. When did I become so observant that I could clearly remember his face? "Right, because he's a demon, so of course I'll remember his face!" I thought to myself. "Hey, what are you thinking? So you're going to spare Doday from your rudeness? Well, she didn't do anything," Joday continued. "Yes, Doday and I are friends. I was just not in a good mood earlier, so please tell her that I'm sorry for refusing to talk to her," I interrupted her, wanting to clarify my feelings. I wasn't really angry at the two of them. It's just that I'll be cautious in choosing my friends because I know that friends can sometimes turn into enemies who will betray me. "Okay then," Joday walked away. I continued with my work, setting the eggs on the stove. As we were preparing breakfast with Madam, Miss Linda whispered to me. "Lyka, since Kiro didn't touch you yesterday, as you told us... Madam said that now you will be the one going in and out of Kiro's room to serve his meals," Lady Linda informed me. My mouth dropped open. What? No way! What on earth?! "Miss Linda? But my assigned tasks were just in the kitchen, pool, and garden..." I stammered. She nodded in response. "Yes, but Madam will increase your salary if you take on this additional responsibility. Since you already know about Kiro's true nature, we trust that you will handle the job well."
Oh no, lying only leads to trouble! So instead of avoiding the demon, I'm supposed to be closer to him? What the heck? "Is it fine with you, dear? If you don't want to, I can talk to Madam and ask for another arrangement," Miss Linda offered, concerned. Her words replayed like a song to my ears. ‘Madam will increase your salary if you take on this additional responsibility.’ I need the money! I'll just have to come up with a plan to ensure the demon never touches me again. "No, Lady Linda! I'm okay... I can handle the added work. It's a deal!" I replied, trying to sound confident. Please, please, I hope I made the right decision.Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
