Chapter 436
Morwenna pinched her thigh hard, fighting back the tears that threatened to spill in front of Norbert Hetfield. She managed to say softly, "Norbert Hetfield, I don't need any of this. All I want is for you to be okay. I don't need anything else."
"Listen, sweetheart, what Grandpa's giving you, you take. I know you're not one to fight for more, but I've selfishly dragged you into the Hetfield family mess. If I don't leave you something to protect yourself, I'll never rest easy!"
"Okay, okay, I'll take it. Please, don't get worked up, Grandpa."
Initially, Norbert had given Morwenna a choice.
One option was a collection of real estate, antique paintings, and jewelry.
The other was shares in the Hetfield Group.Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
Either choice would ensure Morwenna's financial security. If Morwenna had chosen the real estate, he would have divided the Hetfield Group shares among the others.
But Morwenna turned down the real estate, and so Norbert became determined to leave everything to her.
It was a decision that would sound unbelievable to most.
Out of all the people within the Hetfield family, Norbert, holding twenty percent of the Hetfield Group's shares, chose to leave it all to Morwenna, an outsider.
Norbert rambled on, gently making arrangements for after his passing.
Norbert grew weaker, his moments of clarity fading fast. Morwenna, struggling to keep her composure, whispered, "Grandpa, it's late. You should rest."
"Oh, how I crave a good drink," Norbert mumbled weakly.
Wiping away a tear that threatened to fall, Morwenna said, "Just wait, Grandpa. I'll get it for you."
She quickly fetched a bottle of whiskey and two mugs, rushing back to find Norbert barely keeping his eyes open.
Pouring a little whiskey into one mug and handing it to Norbert, Morwenna had to support his hand as both their hands held the mug together.

"Can I have a drink today?" Norbert asked with a weak smile.
Nodding, Morwenna replied, "Yes, I'll drink with you."
She held another mug in her other hand. These mugs, usually for tea, often ended up filled with whiskey instead.
Now, it was for the last time.
Their mugs gently clinked together. "Cheers."
"Cheers," Norbert echoed, closing his eyes for the last time.
Morwenna forced a gulp of whiskey down, her heart torn apart.
In the depths of a no-man's land forest at dawn.
Stuart and Edmund packed up their gear, preparing for the journey ahead.
The biggest danger in this
wilderness was its maze-like
structure. Many areas were shielded from the sun, with no signal, and compasses malfunctioned, possibly due to maic anomalies.
Finding their way out was as challenging as the journey in.

Stuart had left markers, thinking it would ease their exit. However, they found themselves circling backto the same spots despite these
Edmund remained calm, having entered the wilderness with a whatever-comes-will-come attitude, never expecting to venture so deep.
Now, escaping seemed nearly impossible.
